Under his leadership, it has grown into a trusted, white-glove service that gives our clients unmatched peace of mind. MEET KURT BLACKMON, ESTATE EXECUTIVE - RALEIGH
With a deep-rooted passion for construction and an unwavering commitment to detail, Kurt Blackmon brings full-circle expertise to his role at the Raleigh division of Tongue & Groove Property Services. Originally from Rock Hill, South Carolina, Kurt’s journey in the field began early—spending summers assisting his father, a veteran of 42 years in residential and commercial construction, and helping build the family home where his parents still live today.
Now, nearly two decades later, he has returned to the company—bringing his career journey full circle—as part of our growing Property Services division in Raleigh. His time away, including 14 years as a Registered Veterinary Technician at N.C. State University, broadened his perspective and deepened his skills, but his passion for construction and client care ultimately led him back to Tongue & Groove.
After earning a full athletic scholarship to play baseball at N.C. State University and being drafted by the Philadelphia Phillies, Kurt carried the same dedication, discipline, and work ethic from the field into his professional career. He graduated from N.C. State with a Bachelor of Science in Management while balancing the demands of Division I athletics, and later pursued an Associate Degree in Veterinary Technology while working full-time—an experience that further sharpened his time management and adaptability.
Kurt began his career with a small residential construction company in South Carolina, where he gained hands-on experience in project management and field operations. In 2007, he joined Tongue & Groove as a Project Manager, overseeing new construction and remodel projects.
Having lived in Wilmington, Houston, and now Raleigh, Kurt brings a broad perspective on regional approaches to construction and maintenance, while reinforcing the universal importance of collaboration, pride in workmanship, and client care. He credits much of his professional growth to working alongside Mark Batson, whose meticulous attention to detail and dedication to creating seamless, enjoyable client experiences have deeply influenced his own approach.
Outside of work, Kurt is an avid sports fan and devoted N.C. State supporter. He enjoys staying active, spending time outdoors, and cherishing every moment with his 9-year-old daughter— whether they’re playing sports, exploring nature, diving into art projects, swimming, or simply relaxing together with a movie and snacks.
