SERMON NOTES

Advent of Love | 1 John 4:7-10

1 John 4:7-10 (ESV) 7Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God, and whoever loves has been born of God and knows God. 8Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love. 9In this the love of God was made manifest among us, that God sent his only Son into the world, so that we might live through him. 10In this is love, not that we have loved God but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.

Advent of Love:

• Love is _______________ through Jesus.

• Love is _______________ through Jesus.

• Love is _______________ through Jesus.

Questions for Reflection:

1. How do you define love?

2. If God the Father sent His Son Jesus to make love visible by being the propitiation for our sins, how does this change your perspective of love?

3. In 1 John 4:8 we read, “Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love.” What areas in your life, or people in your life, do not experience love from you? Can you confess these to God this week and ask the Holy Spirit to give you opportunities to grow in your love toward others?
