Farrow & Ball Paint: Modern Emulsion: Washable and mould resistant matt finish, especially suited to bathrooms, kitchens and busy areas. For spot removal use a damp soft sponge or cloth and wipe with a very mild non-abrasive mixture of mild detergent and water. Never use cleaning sprays.
S&H Car Color Paint: Interior Latex Matte is a broad wall finish with a sophisticated subtle luster. This product is designed for bedrooms, hallways, and other living spaces, and is characterized by exceptional hiding, adhesion, and washability. Unsurpassed application properties give all C2 LUXE products a refined hand, a smooth beautiful finish at once elegant and durable.
Satin Finish: Satin paint has a smooth finish with just a hint of sheen, falling somewhere in the middle between flat and glossy paint. While it isn’t quite as effective as flat and matte paint for concealing surface flaws and imperfections, satin paint resists dirt and is fairly resistant to stains.
Flat and Eggshell Finishes: Avoid harsh chemicals on flat and eggshell finishes. Both flat and eggshell (also called satin) latex paints look nice on interior walls because they don’t bounce a lot of light. Unfortunately, these popular paint finishes can be finicky to clean. These finishes can be damaged easily, so do not use chemicals or degreasers on this kind of paint. Mix a few drops of dish detergent in a 0.5 gallons of water. Choose a gentle dish detergent that is free from dyes. After mixing a few drops with about 0.5 gallons of warm water, soak a sponge in the solution. Another option is to mix 2–3 tablespoons of white vinegar with 1 gallon of warm water.
Wring the sponge out completely. It is very easy to leave streaks on flat and eggshell/satin walls. This means you want to use as little cleansing solution as possible. After soaking the sponge in the solution of your choice, wring it out until it’s just about dry. Never use scrubby sponges or rough materials. A soft cellulose sponge will work best.
Use a mild degreaser in your kitchen. Gloss and semigloss paints can stand up a bit better to cleaning, which is why these paints are more popular for kitchens. If your kitchen especially the area around your stove has gotten covered in food splatter, a mild degreaser is a great option. Gently spray the area with the degreaser product, then wipe it down with a slightly damp sponge. For best results, follow this with a dish detergent and vinegar solution, or simply a clean water rinse.

A liquid spill left untreated will act as a magnet to any dirt particles that are in the rug, causing the dirt to rise to the surface. This dirt may cause a dark stain. If liquid, blot up as much as you can with a clean, undyed cloth, pressing firmly all around the spill to absorb as much of the liquid as possible. Avoid placing furniture in areas with extreme variations of temperature and humidity. Placing a wooden piece in a room which fluctuates from being humid to being dry can cause the wood to crack as it absorbs and then releases moisture. Avoid placing furniture directly in front of vents. Wood naturally contains a small amount of moisture. Placing a piece where it is bathed in a constant stream of dry air, whether from central air-conditioning or central heating, may cause the naturally occurring moisture to evaporate and may lead to cracking Avoid exposing your piece to strong sunlight which can cause discoloration in finishes. Avoid writing directly on the surface of your piece, as it may leave small indentation marks. Avoid leaving water or other spills on your piece for any period as it may cause wood, veneers, and lacquer finishes to warp or bubble. Simply dab spills dry with a soft paper towel or a soft clean sponge. We recommend the use of coasters under glasses to avoid moisture rings. Avoid spilling acetone or alcohol-based fluids on your piece as they may dissolve finishes and leave unsightly spots. This does not apply to mirrored pieces which are impervious to most spills. Many household items such as rubber-based placemats, phones, alarm clocks, lamps, computers, and decorative accent pieces use rubber-based plastic pads on the bottom. To prevent discoloration and chemical reaction with the finish, rotate these items regularly so they do not remain in the same place for extended periods of time. If you cannot rotate a piece, we recommend the use of undyed felt pads instead. Avoid placing hot objects on surfaces since heat can damage the finish. Always use protective pads under hot dishes and plates.
WOOD & LACQUER
Avoid using glass cleaners on anything but glass and mirror. Ammonia can cause discoloration and dull the finish. Our lacquer pieces come in both high-gloss and medium-gloss. Clean lacquer with a soft cloth or duster. Avoid rubbing hard as this may produce tiny scratches.

To protect the wood from the start, apply a protective coating. We recommend Occulto Oil (9911). This will seal the pores of the timber and create a natural protection. Stains and marks should still be removed immediately.
For regular dusting, use a dry cloth. For cleaning or in case of a spill, use a damp cloth and natural soap. Wipe in the direction of the grain. Do not use soap containing detergent or other chemicals. Dry with a soft, clean cloth to prevent spotting.
We always recommend protecting surfaces with coasters, mousepads, or placemats, as extreme and repetitive daily use or heat can damage the finish.

In almost all instances, regular vacuuming of an Oriental rug with an electric vacuum cleaner is good for the rug. A dirty rug wears prematurely, and regular gentle vacuuming helps prevent dirt on the surface of the rug from filtering down into the pile where it can accumulate and cause increased wear. Still, be careful with a cleaner equipped with a power brush or "beater bar." These powered brushes in the vacuum head help the vacuum to do a good job on machine made carpeting, but they cause a raking effect on the top layer of an Oriental rug's pile if used too strenuously. For routine cleaning, use just the plain vacuum nozzle. This is especially important for fringes; try not to run an upright vacuum or a power brush attachment over the fringes. The brush shreds the fringes and causes rapid wear. Frequently fringes get caught and chewed up by the rotating mechanism of the brush, so try to vacuum with the nap of the rug.
Rotate your rug as often as possible, at least every 3 to 6 months. Do this more often if you notice that the high traffic areas of your rug are starting to appear dirty, or if the nap has lost its original direction or shape. Also, rotate your rugs according to the amount of direct sunlight they receive, as over time, direct sunlight can fade the dyes of your rug. Rotating your rugs will allow them to wear more evenly, which helps them to maintain their original appearance and value.
In case of a food spill, the spot should be treated promptly before the spill dries out. Always try to work on the spill spot rather than brushing it, which will make the spill spot spread around. Blot up as much liquid as possible with paper towels or a clean white cloth. Try to rinse out as much of the spill as possible. If necessary, use a tablespoon to scrape up all the material. Blot the area dry and immediately sponge several times with rug shampoo or with a cleaning solution made from a mixture of 1/4 cup white vinegar, 1/2 tsp liquid dishwashing detergent and 2 cups tepid water. Don't scrub too hard; too much manipulation of the pile can spread the stain. Make sure that you sponge in the direction of the nap.
Most Oriental rug dyes are acid reactive. However, if you add a little white vinegar to the solution you will make the solution more acidic, and this reinforces the bond between the dye and the wool in the rug. It also helps prevent the colors from wearing away. Finally, sponge the area with cool, clean water. Use absorbent towels or a firm, nonshedding sponge. Don't use a stiff brush, as it will pull out the fibers from the pile. Don't scrub the pile too harshly. Place some towels under the spot to keep the floor or pad from getting wet and then let it dry thoroughly. When the nap feels dry, check the back of the rug to see if the area is completely dry.

For stubborn areas, use our AR Power Washer to clean. Hold the power washer approximately 30" away from the furniture and do not exceed 1200 PSI. Rinse, and then allow to sun-dry. Exposure to moisture over time can raise the wood grain. A light sanding with fine 120-grit sandpaper smooths the surface. Once the weathering of the finish begins, we recommend the following: • Hose down the furniture (DO NOT use a power washer) and clean with Golden Care® Hardwood & Teak Cleaner using a sponge or soft scrub brush to remove dirt and loose paint, ensuring a clean surface. Allow the surface to dry for 24 hours. • If exposure to moisture over time has raised the wood grain, sand lightly with 120-grit sandpaper. • Apply Golden Care® Instant Grey to maintain the color of your finish. Allow to air dry for 24 hours. • Apply Golden Care® Hardwood & Teak Shield to protect from UV rays, mold and mildew, and food and drink stains. Wipe clean with a soft, non-abrasive cloth dampened with clean water. Wipe dry with a soft, non-abrasive cloth. Apply a light coating of liquid Carnauba wax to the product with a soft cloth. Perform this periodically to preserve the original patina. Frequency will depend on specific conditions and location of the installation.
Important: Do not use any abrasive or non-abrasive cleaners or solvents, whether chemical or organic, to clean the products as they may degrade or remove the patina completely.
