(Jean Sultan) is thrilled to be with Marin Theatre, revisiting Pictures from Home after appearing in the regional premiere at the Alley Theatre in Houston, TX. Working for the past 30 years as a Houston-based actor, recent performances include Angels in America (Rec Room Theatre) and the U.S. premiere of Miss Marple in Agatha Christie’s The Mirror Crack’d (Alley Theatre). Other Houston performances include Clue, Sister Act, Murder on the Orient Express, Steel Magnolias, The Foreigner, Company, Jane Ere, You Can’t Take It with You, Grey Gardens, The Children, Ubu Roi, and the longest-running show in Houston’s history, Always…Patsy Cline.
VICTOR TALMADGE*
(Irving Sultan) MT Debut. Talmadge was most recently seen at Berkeley Rep, In The Reservoir. His other Bay Area appearances include: Cal Shakes, Marin Shakes, Aurora, ACT, Theater Works, San Francisco Playhouse, Oakland Thater Project, Z Space, The Magic Theater
and Santa Cruz Shakespeare. He has worked extensively in New York and regional theaters and was on Broadway in the world premiere of David Mamet's, November. He played “The King” in the Tony-Award winning production of the National Tour of The King and I and was seen as Scar in the L.A. production of The Lion King. Talmadge’s film and TV credits include recurring characters on the series, Manhattan and Vegas. As a playwright, his The Gate Of Heaven was awarded The Nakashima Peace Prize. It was the first live theater to be produced at The U.S. Holocaust Memorial and has been subsequently performed around the country.
JONATHAN MOSCONE°
(Director) s thrilled to be making his Marin Theatre debut with Pictures from Home. He most recently served as the Executive Director of the California Arts Council after having worked for 7 years as Chief Producer of Yerba Buena Center for the Arts and for 15 years as Artistic Director of California Shakespeare Theater. He is the first recipient of the Zelda Fichandler Award, given by the Stage Directors and Choreographers Foundation for “transforming the American theater through his unique and creative work.” Upcoming projects include the world premiere of Aaron Loeb’s ROI (Return on Investment) for SF Playhouse and Abe Koogler’s Deep Blue Sound for Actors’ Reading Collective. He lives in San Francisco with his husband, Darryl Carbonaro and their pets, Lucy and Turtle
SHARR WHITE (Playwright)
Sharr White’s Pictures from Home premiered on Broadway at Studio 54 in 2023, with Bartlett Sher directing Nathan Lane, Danny Burstein and Zoe Wannamaker. Other Broadway credits include The Other Place at Manhattan Theatre Club (Joe Mantello, dir., Laurie Metcalf, Tony nom.); and The Snow Geese with MCC Theatre at Manhattan Theatre Club (Daniel Sullivan, dir., Mary Louise Parker, Danny Burstein, Victoria Clark starring). White’s off-Broadway productions include
The True at The New Group (Scott Elliot, dir., Edie Falco, Michael McKean, Peter Scolari starring); Annapurna at The New Group (Bart DeLorenzo, dir., Megan Mullally, Nick Offerman starring); The Other Place at MCC Theatre (Joe Mantello, dir., Laurie Metcalf starring). White also works extensively in television, including three season on Showtime’s The Affair; creator of Netflix’s Halston (Ewan McGregor, Emmy Award); coShowrunner on HBO’s Generation and, most recently, Executive Producer on Palm Royale and Presumed Innocent, both for Apple.
CLIFF CARUTHERS+
(Composer/Sound Designer) is based in the Bay Area with over 300 productions credits near and far, including Born With Teeth for Oregon Shakespeare Festival, Frankenstein at Guthrie Theatre, 1984 at Alley Theatre, Caucasian Chalk Circle for American Conservatory Theater, TRAGEDY: A Tragedy for Berkeley Repertory Theater, Man in Love for Kansas City Rep, and A Clean House for TheatreWorks Silicon Valley, where he was Resident Sound Designer for seven years. His work on Fighter Airplanes for Cutting Ball Theater was featured at the Prague Quadrennial in 2007. His work on Earth: A Primer, was featured at the Experimental Gameplay Worship at the Game Developers Conference (GDC) in 2015. He has received numerous Bay Area Critics Circle awards, most recently in 2026 for the world premiere of 5 and Dime at TheatreWorks Silicon Valley. Caruthers is co-curator and technical director of the San Francisco Tape Music Festival, a member of United Scenic Artists, and teaches sound design at Stanford University.

CHARLIE ANTHONY MEJIA (Co-lighting designer) is a Bay Area–based artist. He previously worked at Marin Theatre as an assistant on The Odyssey (2023). Recent design credits include Annie (Berkeley Playhouse) and Both Eyes Open (Zellerbach Playhouse). As an assistant lighting designer, he has collaborated with companies including San Francisco Opera and Berkeley Repertory Theatre. Charlie holds a BA in Drama from San Francisco State University.
MEG NEVILLE+ (Costume Designer) is a Mill Valley resident and costume designer who is thrilled to be back at MT after designing Yaga last season. Bay area theatre credits include many productions at Berkeley Rep, ACT, TheatreWorks, The Magic, Calshakes, San Jose Rep, Joe Good performance group, UC Berkeley. New York and regional credits include The Public, The Atlantic, BAM, Second Stage, NY Stage & Film, Arena stage, Oregon Shakespeare Festival, the Mark Taper Forum, Southcoast Rep, Dallas Theater Center, The Guthrie, and Yale Rep among others. JOAN OSATO (Projection
Designer) is an artist and cultural worker from San Francisco. She has been recognized for her work by Cal Shakes, and was awarded Yerba Buena Center for the Arts’ YBCA 100. She was the inaugural recipient of Theater Bay Area’s Award for Excellence in Video Design and the Surdna Foundation’s Artists Engaged in Social Change Award. Plays and films include Garuda’s Wing and Richard II by Naomi Iizuka, Alleluia: The Road & The Travelers, by Luis Alfaro, Hookers from Mars, Eventually, Josephine’s Feast and Side Effects by Star Finch and Dirty White Teslas Make Me Sad by Ashley Smiley.

LARRY SULTAN
Larry Sultan (American photographer, b. Brooklyn, NY, 1946; d. Greenbrae, CA, 2009) spent his childhood in California’s San Fernando Valley and settled in the Bay Area. His work, heavily influenced by the post-war popular culture of Los Angeles, plays with notions of documentary and staged photography and explores the psychological nuances found in the everyday suburban landscape and family life. Acclaimed for his use of color and light, Sultan is also known for uniquely collapsing the distance between himself and his subject. His series include Swimmers (1978-82), Pictures from Home (1983-92), The Valley (2004) and Homeland (2006-2009). Sultan co-authored the ground-breaking work, Evidence (1977) with Mike Mandel. A beloved and highly influential educator, Sultan taught at the San Francisco Art Institute (1978- 1988) and California College of the Arts, San Francisco (1989 - 2009). The recipient of numerous awards including an NEA grant and a Guggenheim fellowship, Sultan’s work has been widely published, exhibited, and collected worldwide. Sultan’s project Pictures from Home was developed for the stage by Sharr White and premiered on Broadway in 2023. Selections from Pictures from Home are on view at Casemore Gallery, San Francisco, May 2 – June 13.
