MAI SUNSET BEACH RESORT RESORT ACTIVITIES GUIDED MANTA RAY SNORKELING EXPERIENCE (BY BOAT) Day: Selected days from May to October based on sightings (see the activity bure) Time: Variable Duration: 2 hours Cost: FJ$125 Notes: Minimum 2, maximum 10 people Not far from the resort is Manta channel (between Naviti and Drawaqa Islands) where plankton is funnelled through a narrow channel, a favourite feeding ground for the local population of manta ray between May and October each year who feed when the tide is high. When manta ray have been sighted, take the resort tender boat to the area to snorkel with these majestic creatures in their natural environment. As a bonus, there is some fantastic snorkelling in the area even if you don’t get to see a manta ray.
GUIDED VILLAGE VISIT/SCHOOL TOUR Day: Monday to Friday, Saturday - Village only Time: 9.15am Duration: 2 hours Cost: FJ$85 Notes: Minimum 2 people Experience the traditional island way of life for yourself with a guided tour to Gunu village. Meet the locals, visit and have a tour around the local school (Monday to Friday only), and let your heart melt with the genuine smiles and laughter of our village friends whilst enjoying morning or afternoon tea with a local family. Depart and return to the resort by boat.
GUIDED SUNSET RIDGE WALK Day: Daily Time: Early evening, departure time changes seasonally Duration: 1.5 hours Cost: FJ$55 Notes: Minimum 2 people Hike to the ridge above the resort (average to hard) with your guide, to catch the sun setting over another glorious day in paradise and take in the panoramic views of the surrounding area below. This guided walk takes you on a loop track back through a local plantation and jungle-like native bush.
GUIDED SUNRISE RIDGE WALK Day: Daily Time: Early morning, departure time changes seasonally Duration: 1.5 hours Cost: FJ$55 Notes: Minimum 2 people Hike to the ridge above the resort (average to hard) with your guide and using headlamps, to catch the sun rising over the horizon and take in the panoramic views of the surrounding area below. This guided walk takes you on a loop track back through a local plantation and jungle like native bush.
GUIDED SNORKELLING TRIP (BY BOAT) Day: Daily Time: Morning and afternoon Duration: 2 hours Cost: FJ$68 Notes: Minimum 2 people Take a tender boat (approximately 10 minutes) to visit our outer house reef either north or south of Mai Sunset Beach Resort, and discover vibrant coral gardens and colourful reef fish on our guided snorkel trip. A guide, snorkelling gear, and easy instruction are included—perfect for first timers and experienced snorkelers alike. Swim through crystal-clear waters, explore vibrant coral reefs and discover the colourful marine life that calls them home.
GUIDED VILLAGE CHURCH SERVICE Day: Sunday Time: 9.30am Duration: 2 hours Cost: FJ$55 Notes: Minimum 2 people Each Sunday morning, your guide will take you to the village of Nasoqo by boat and take you to the local village church for their weekly 10.00am church service. Fijians love music and singing and hearing the congregation sing in harmony with the band is an experience not to be missed experience. Return to the resort by boat afterwards.
NAMA (SEA GRAPES) SEA TO TABLE EXPERIENCE Day: Daily, tide dependent Time: Low tide (check with the activities bure for exact timings) Duration: 1.5 hours Cost: FJ$35 per person Notes: Minimum 2 people Nama, also known as sea grapes, is a local Fijian delicacy prized for its fresh, unique flavour and natural properties. It is also used in locally made skincare products, including Nama Fiji, available for purchase from our resort boutique. At low tide, join one of our local guides and head out to carefully hand-pick nama from the surrounding waters. Learn the traditional and sustainable way to harvest nama by taking only the top of each cluster and leaving the root system intact, allowing the plant to naturally regenerate within just a few weeks. Bring your freshly harvested nama back to the Activities Bure, where the experience continues. With the help of our local guides, you’ll clean and prepare the nama, husk and scrape fresh coconuts, and extract coconut milk the traditional Fijian way. Prepare seasonal vegetables before bringing everything together to create a fresh, island-style nama salad. Once your creation is complete, sit back and enjoy the fruits of your efforts as you share your freshly prepared nama salad at lunchtime - a delicious taste of Fiji, made by you.
SUNSET DRIFT & TUNES Day: Daily (weather dependent) Time: Early evening, from 5pm onwards, timing changes seasonally Duration: 2 hours Cost: FJ$79 Notes: Minimum 2 people, maximum 8 people Head out on the water in our 8-person inflatable party lounge to drift around the bay (tied to our tender boat) enjoying drinks as you watch the sun set over the horizon & vibe to our very own Fijian crew entertainment complete with guitar on another gorgeous day in Fiji. One canned drink is included, and others can be purchased while on the excursion.
SUNSET COCKTAIL CLASS Day: Daily Time: At Mai Sunset hour (check with reception on exact timings) Duration: 45 mins Cost: FJ$45 Notes: Minimum 2 people Learn to mix a tropical cocktail with fresh ingredients and island spirits as the sun sets in the background and then enjoy your delicious concoction watching the sun set on another beautiful day in paradise as you lounge under the coconut trees.
