CULTURE CULZEAN CASTLE AND COUNTRY PARK

Perched on the Ayrshire cliffs, Culzean Castle is a magnificent structure designed by Robert Adam in the late 18th century for David Kennedy, 10th Earl of Cassillis. The extravagant Earl wanted an extravagant home: check out the castle’s aweinspiring Oval Staircase, discover 40 buildings and secret follies in the park (includes the castle itself) and explore its glorious location, featuring delightful gardens and the beach.

BURNS COTTAGE & ROBERT BURNS MUSEUM

Visit the humble birthplace of Robert Burns, Scotland’s national poet, and get an insight in to what influenced the much-revered bard. Located in Alloway, see his home, visit the museum, showcasing over 5,000 Burns artefacts,and discover landmarks known to Burns himself.

SCOTTISH MARITIME MUSEUM

A must-visit for maritime history enthusiasts, the museum enjoys two locations: the Irvine-based museum, housing its permanent collection under a spectacular glass roof; and the Dumbarton museum, which is in fact the Denny Tank, the world’s first ship model experiment tank.
