BAR ROSS Named for Dornoch native Donald Ross, the legendary golf course architect who first learned the game on Royal Dornoch's links, Bar Ross is the social heart of Marine & Lawn Dornoch. THE GOLDEN GORSE A destination restaurant with stunning views over the Royal Dornoch Links and sea beyond, The Golden Gorse is the dining room at Marine & Lawn Dornoch that offers a seasonal, all-day a-la-carte menu, afternoon tea, and Sunday Roast. The menu draws from the best of the Scottish Highlands, focusing on local meats, freshly caught seafood, and seasonal produce from the Sutherland larder. DUNROBIN CASTLE

Around 20 minutes from Dornoch, this beautiful castle overlooks the Moray Firth and offers plenty to see and do. Admire the architecture, manicured gardens, falconry displays or check out its museum.

THE PICTISH TRAIL

Follow in the footsteps of the Picts, who inhabited Scotland from 300 to 900AD, and learn about their legacy, starting in Dornoch, up to Dunrobin Castle and down to Inverness. You’ll find several notable stops along the trail, all home to enigmatic carved stones, including Edderton, Tain, Shandwick, Hilton of Cadboll and Tarbet Discovery Centre in Portmahomack.
