Legenda o Ružici gradu The legend of Ružica town

Ovu knjigu posvećujemo našoj dragoj učiteljici Tatjani Maršić, koja nas je na maštovit i čudesan način upoznala sa svijetom mnogih legendi.

Jedna je od takvih legendi bila i legenda o Ružici gradu.

We dedicate this book to our dear teacher Tatjana Maršić, who introduced us into the world of legends in an imaginative and miraculous manner. One of those legends was the legend of Ružica grad.

Beyond the eleven mountains and the seven hills, on exactly the third peak of a sleeping giant's horn, there stood a magnificent stone palace. That powerful, romantic palace, surrounded by rose bushes, was built a long time ago by the ancestors of our ancestors.

Iza jedanaest brda i sedam gora, na točno trećem vrhu roga jednog uspavanog diva, stajala je prekrasna kamenita palača.

Sagradiše ju još u davna vremena preci naših predaka, snažnu i romantičnu, grmovima ruža okruženu.

In that palace lived a young princess with her father and mother.

Their home was filled with warmth, peace and love.

U toj je palači živjela mlada kneginja sa svojim ocem i majkom.

Njihov dom bijaše ispunjen toplinom, mirom i ljubavlju.

However, the peace did not last forever. Soon a war broke and the Franks attacked the palace with all of their power. The brave knights of Ružica town did everything to protect the young princess.

Mir u palači nije potrajao vječno.

Uskoro izbi rat i mnogobrojni neprijatelji Franci svom silom krenuše u napad na palaču.

Hrabri vitezovi Ružicinog grada učinili su sve kako bi zaštitili mladu kneginju.

Many knights did not survive that terrible fight, and neither did Ružica's father.

Ružica was brokenhearted, crying over her father's grave.

Mnogi vitezovi pogiboše u toj strašnoj borbi.

Pogibe i Ružicin otac.

Ružica je bila slomljena srca, oplakujući grob svog oca.

After a few days of grieving, Ružica decided to speak to her people. ''I will give up my parents' place in the palace and marry the knight who wins the tournament'', said the princess

Nakon nekoliko dana tugovanja, Ružica se odluči obratiti svome narodu.

"Prepustit ću mjesto svojih roditelja u palači i udati se za onog viteza koji pobijedi u turniru", rekla je kneginja.

When they found out about the tournamnet, many knights from all over the world gathered in front of the castle to test their strenght.

Čuvši za turnir, pred Ružicin dvorac sa svih strana svijeta počeše pristizati vitezovi kako bi okušali svoju snagu.

The fight lasted all day.

Not even the bright sun, whose rays reflected on the swords, could distract the knights.

However, there was one knight who stood out.

It was the Black knight.

Borba se vodila cijeli dan. Čak niti žarko sunce koje se svojim zrakama opiralo o mačeve, nije uspjelo omesti vitezove. Jedan se vitez ipak isticao među svim drugim vitezovima.

Bio je to Crni vitez.

Everyone marveled at the Black knight, who carried the day. He defeated the rest of the knights, who painfully accepted their defeat, one by one.

Svi u čudu gledaše tog Crnog viteza koji je odnosio pobjedu za pobjedom.

Redom je ispraćao sve druge vitezove koji su s teškom mukom prihvaćali poraz svog moćnog protivnika

The tournament finally came to an end.

When the Black knight kneeled before the princess and took off his helmet, Ružica was shocked to find out he was a Frank – an enemy of her people.

Konačno je turniru došao kraj.

Kada je Crni vitez kao pobjednik došao pred kneginju Ružicu i skinuo svoju kacigu, Ružica se zaprepastila uočivši da je on Franak - neprijatelj njezinog naroda.

For the princess, it was a horrible thing to happen.

Black clouds descended over her palace.

Despite the given promise, Ružica could not accept to marry the vicious enemy.

Bio je to strašan događaj za kneginju.

Crni oblaci spustili su se nad njezinu palaču.

Unatoč danom obećanju, Ružica nije mogla prihvatiti udaju za zlobnog neprijatelja.

Princess Ružica decided to end her life by throwing herself off the highest tower of her palace.

At that place grew a rose as red as Ružica's blood.

Kneginja Ružica odlučila je okončati svoj život bacivši se s najviše kule svoje palače.

Na tom je mjestu izrasla ruža, crvena poput Ružicine krvi.

Since then, the spirit of the unlucky princess appears and watches over the town, protecting it from the enemies.

Sve od tada, duh nesretne kneginje pojavljuje se i bdije nad gradom, čuvajući ga od neprijatelja.

In the memory of the brave princess and the roses that blossomed in a place where her eyes closed for the last time, the town was named Ružica town...

U spomen na hrabru kneginju i ruže što niknuše na mjestu gdje su se njezine oči posljednji put sklopile, grad dobi ime Ružica grad...
