Marie Ackers is a French contemporary sculptor based in England, working in bronze and resin. Self-taught, she has developed a singular sculptural language that distils animal presence to its most essential form, inding the geometry, line and curve that reveals the soul of each subject.

In luenced by the French Animalier tradition of François Pompon, the geometric modernism of Lynn Chadwick, and the reductive philosophy of Brancusi, her work spans across ive distinct collections: Horses and Riders, Essence of the Wild, Bulls and Bears, Inspired by Birds, and Independent Studies. Each sculpture moves through a rigorous process of clay explora on, resin and nally bronze. Her work is exhibited in galleries and interna onal exhibi ons across Europe, and is collected privately in the UK, Europe, and beyond.

I have always been drawn to animals, not to their surface or their beauty, but to something deeper. The

essential presence that makes each creature unmistakably itself.

I don't impose a single language on every animal I sculpt, I listen to what each one needs and ind the geometry, the line, the curve that reveals its soul, its presence, its attitude. The horse demands lowing line and mythic stillness. The rhino demands geometric mass, the architecture of an animal unchanged for millions of years. The leopard demands concentrated power held in perfect balance. In a world that never stops adding noise, my work tries to do the opposite , to strip each animal down to its most powerful essential form. To ind the stillness at the centre. To make visible what has always been there, waiting to be seen. I N F L U E N C E S

François Pompon — The French Animalier Tradition Growing up in France, the great Animalier tradition and Pompon above all, shaped Marie's instinct that animal form could be reduced to its most essential and most powerful presence without losing its soul. Pompon's pursuit of the irreducible, his ability to strip an animal down to pure form while keeping it completely alive, remains the deepest root of her practice. Constantin Brancusi — Simpli ication as Revelation From Brancusi, the understanding that simpli ication is not subtraction but revelation. That the essential form of a subject is more true and more present than any surface detail could ever be. That less, pursued with rigour and honesty, becomes more. Lynn Chadwick — Geometric Modernism From Chadwick , whose work Marie loves with an immediacy that has always felt like recognition rather than admiration. She found the geometric language that makes her work fully itself. The angular planes, the sharp edges catching light, the ability to make a relatively small bronze feel monumental.
