Congratulations to Marian’s International Thespian Society students who competed at the Michigan State Thespian Festival this past December along with 1600 other high school theatre students from around the state.
KARINA MITRIUS received a Superior rating in the Scenic Design category.
JEN SUAN (Solo Musical Theatre) and LAUREN KOWALEWSKI (Playwriting and Solo Musical Theatre) each earned Excellent ratings in their categories.
A special congratulations to LAUREN KOWALEWSKI who participated in the college scholarship auditions and earned over $95,000 in scholarship offers.

Mrs. Abbie Bailey graduated with a BFA in Ceramics and Art Education from Western Michigan University. She promptly got a job at Pewabic Pottery in Detroit working in the education department teaching pottery in Detroit Public Schools, adult ceramics classes/workshops, and was the mural coordinator on projects for Motts Children’s Hospital and the DMC. In 2018, Mrs. Bailey received her Master of Education in Art Education from Wayne State University and is also an adjunct professor of Ceramics EducationatWSU.
Mrs. Bailey’s husband and two sons are her biggest fans giving her support every day to fulfillalifelongpassionforartandeducation.
Mrs. Abbie Bailey is finishing her seventh year of teaching at Marian and her fourteenth year asasecondaryartteacher!
This is Mr. Mahoney's ninth year of teaching and sixth year at Marian. Previously, he worked ten years in Special Education, working with students with autism. Mr. Mahoney has also worked as a graphic designer, and in film/video production. He graduated from Madonna University with a degree in Sociology and a certification in Art Education. Mr. Mahoney has also continued his education with online courses along with professional developmentworkshops.
He is an avid chess player, loves to hike, draw, andhangoutwithhisgrandchildren.
Mrs. Kelly Davis is the Director of the Marian Rice Players. Kelly has worked as a Director, Choreographer, Production Stage Manager, and Designer as well as a Theatre teacher for K-12 in schools, camps, and community theaters throughout the Metro Detroit area for over 25 years. She is also a Board Member of the Michigan Educational Theatre Association and the Moderator for the International Thespian Society Troupe #5537 at Marian and BrotherRice.
Currently finishing her ninth year at Marian, Mrs. Amy Blevins conducts the Marian Melodies, Marian Rice Concert Choir, Liturgical Choir, and teaches the Music Technology and Intro to Acting classes. Under her direction, the choirs and students consistently received Excellent Ratings at District and State Festivals. Prior to working at Marian, Mrs. Blevins maintained a thriving private voice studio and was a soprano soloist throughout the Detroit area. A graduate of Oakland University, she earned a Bachelor of Music with a concentration in Vocal Performance and Music Education.
Mrs. Blevins is an active member of the Michigan School Vocal Music Association, where she is currently Co-Manager of District #4. She is frequently called upon to clinician and adjudicate District/State Festivals and Regional/National competitions.
She lives in Waterford with her extremely supportivehusband,Vernon.
