The artist who reads other artists badly is a great nearsighted survivor of images. He fumbles into the brute matter of technique and into the accumulated mass of history. He skids through cacophony, noises, taints, gaps and through the infiltration of poetic matter, through the leaking of images and substances that contaminate his own life up until now. It is an attitude from this artist to fight for survival, in the memory of those who are living, making images. This artist approaches others carefully, in a wrestle between rapture and reason. He piles the layers of construction of understandings, adhering and dislocating, strengthened by the imaginal exchange.

O artista que lê mal os outros artistas é o grande míope sobrevivente das imagens. Tateia na matéria bruta da técnica e da massa acumulada da história. Ele resvala pelas cacofonias, ruídos, manchas, brechas e pela infiltração de matéria poética, pelo escorrimento das imagens e de substâncias contaminadoras de sua própria vida até então. É deste artista lutar pela sua sobrevivência, na memória de quem está vivo, fazendo imagens. Este artista aproxima-se de outros cuidadosamente, num embate que entre arrebatamento e razão. Empilha as camadas de construção de entendimentos, aderindo e deslocando, fortalecido na troca imaginal.

The artist who admires strong artists becomes a fortress, emanating in its imag-es/texts/voices directions and meanings to where others will follow, fumbling, fingering, scarifying their own skin to perceive in it other organisms, other corporal images, fragments/cells of the strong living artist. A furious and almost blind guides through walls. Choosing esthetics as politics, the strong artist who sees/reads/listens other strong ones do it astigmatically, in liquid, juxtaposed particles, to survive and later find himself transformed, deviant.

O artista admirador de artistas fortes torna-se uma fortaleza, emanando em suas imagens/textos/vozes direções e sentidos para onde outros seguirão, tateando, dedilhando, escarificando sua própria pele para nela perceber outros organismos, outras imagens corporificadas, fragmentos/ células do artista forte vivo. Um quase cego feroz guia através de paredes. Escolhendo a estética como escolha política, o artista forte que lê/vê/ouve outros fortes enxerga-os astigmaticamente, em partículas líquidas e sobrepostas, para poder sobreviver e encontrar-se mais tarde, transformado, desviado.

Graduated in Artistic Education at Universidade Estadual de Campinas (1989), Master in Education at Universidade Estadual de Campinas (1996) and Doctor in Education at Universidade Estadual de Campinas (2000). Professor at the Department of Drawing at Escola de Belas Artes (UFMG). Post-Doctorate at Unicamp in Laboratório de Estudos Audio Visuais-OLHO, coordinated by Prof. Dr. Milton José de Almeida and at Universtá degli Studi di L´Aquila, at Dipartamento di Culture Comparate, with Prof. Dr. Angelo Turco.
