MIAMI HOUSING BUILDING

Miami’s housing crisis prompted a project based in sustainability and community. Inspired by the resilience of trees, the design process focused on optimizing space and promoting a sense of belonging.

The main challenge was to provide affordable housing. Featuring a central “tree” symbolizing life and community. Apartment layouts mimicked tree roots. Sustainability was principal, with solar panels generating electricity and heating water, louvre systems regulating temperature and sunlight, and sustainable materials like recycled wood. The project’s outcomes emphasized community engagement, sustainable design, flexibility in housing options, and cost-efficient solutions. By balancing affordability with quality and sustainability.

02 THE BRONX-Community hub

The Bronx Community Center stands as a visionary project meticulously designed to serve the local community, strategically positioned near prominent landmarks such as Jerome Slope and Yankee Stadium. This center embodies the concept of consolidating diverse community activities into a centralized hub. Extensive research revealed a scattered distribution of recreational offerings throughout the city, prompting the realization that a dedicated space was lacking, particularly for children. The center emerges as a transformative solution, providing a singular location where youngsters can access an array of enriching activities, from theaters and playgrounds to basketball courts and even a rock climbing wall.

By situating the community center in close proximity to iconic Bronx landmarks, it becomes a focal point, fostering a sense of unity and pride among residents. This intentional location serves as a beacon for communal gathering, offering a diverse range of recreational, cultural, and educational opportunities under one roof. The thoughtful integration of various amenities ensures that the community center caters to the holistic development and well-being of its diverse inhabitants, providing a dynamic space for social interaction, play, and personal growth. Ultimately, the Bronx Community Center emerges not just as a physical space but as a cornerstone for community cohesion, engagement, and the flourishing of shared experiences

WRITERS HOUSE

In envisioning a design for Savannah, Georgia, my approach prioritized a deep understanding of the community’s dynamics and the imperative to create a design seamlessly integrated into their daily lives. Through careful analysis of the carriage house’s future residents, predominantly comprised of workers with vibrant social lives, I tailored the design to their lifestyle needs. The deliberate separation of bedrooms and kitchens from the communal areas ensures privacy and enhances functionality.

Additionally, my design incorporates elements inspired by Savannah’s climate and local architecture, fostering a sense of place and cultural identity. This approach seeks to create a living space that not only serves its practical purpose but also embodies the community’s spirit and individuality, establishing a harmonious relationship between architecture and lifestyle.

04 THE FOLLIES

This experimental project explores tension-based design, drawing inspiration from spider webs to create diverse and complex structures. These architectural follies, adaptable to any location globally, redefine spatial possibilities by merging artistry with engineering ingenuity. The project’s vision is to establish a universal language of tension, transcending cultural and geographical boundaries, and inspiring an appreciation for its beauty and adaptability. This initiative represents a compact yet powerful exploration of contemporary architectural innovation, showcasing the potential for expressive and functional structures that break away from traditional norms.
