CODEX PROJECT This project was based on the book “Heavy: an American Memoir by Kiese Laymon. The book explores what the weight of a lifetime of secrets, lies, and deception does to a black body, a black family, and a nation teetering on the brink of moral collapse. The goal of the project the project was to design a space that allows people to experience the codex.

A SMALL SPACE For this project students had to design a space based on a preexisting project, the Codex project from desing 3. The students had to chose a site that embodied the concept of their codex project and further develop their design. The area ofWynwood in Miami was chosen for the site because the area has similarly issues explored by the codex. The project developed into a gallery space that showcases artwork related to social issues in the area as well as providing a view of the area.

KEYSTONE STATE PARK

SITE PLAN

CABIN 192 A JiA - Jose Isturain Architecture Cabin 192 is located in montanous area located at the West sector of Panama. The cabin was designed as part of three cabins and a main house as a family getaway. The cabin is elevated by wood columns to keep the humidity of the site off and pallet windows that help control ventilation. Keystone State Park was chosen as the new site for cabin because of its similarity to the original site including the vast vegetation and sloping terrain. With 118.11 sq. ft on the second level the cabin consists of a bathroom, a kitchenette, and a bedroom leading to a balcony with a view of the forest.
