Your NEW Online Business Guide EXCITED: Sisters Mikayla and Alexa Haigh are excited to be back at Tolga State Primary School together.
WELCOME BACK SCHOOL IS BACK! Even though Queensland schools are mid-term, lots of parents across the Tablelands breathed a sigh of relief as schools resumed back to normal this week. On March 26, the Queensland Government announced that all schools would be going student free as a measure to stop
the spread of COVID-19. Then on May 11 Prep, year 1 and years 11 and 12 went back to school for Term 2. This put some parents in the unenviable situation of having some children at school and some staying at home. Jo Haigh from Tolga said it was strange having one girl at home and one at school.
“Mikayla is in year 3 and she stayed at home with me for home schooling, while her younger sister Alexa who is in prep had to go to school,” said Jo. "We had a mini-meltdown most mornings when Alexa couldn't understand why she had to go to school but her sister got to stay home with me.”
Jo also admitted that she has a newfound respect for the teachers, "I'm not made to be teacher, there were so many websites that I needed to log onto and get so much information from so many different sources,” she said. “But both girls are really happy to be back at school, seeing their friends.”
