Locally owned and proudly independent

The annual school swimming carnival last Friday didn’t stop these dedicated school leaders from finalising plans for their first fundraiser of the year. The Mareeba State High School student council annually holds a Valentine’s Day fundraiser by selling roses at the school. This year they are hoping to sell around 50 roses at $3 each to students and say it’s not just for sweethearts but friends as well. “We are promoting friendship

roses this year,” said school captain Giulia Rogato. Valentine’s Day is a special occasion and it’s a great fundraiser for the student council. The money raised will be donated to a charity of their choosing.
