DRAKE CERTIFIED LOVER BOY
works for him”. Despite the reviews of the sonic aspect of the album being mixed, there was on aspect of the album that mainly everyone agreed with and that was the questionable album cover.
The album cover was designed by Damien Hirst and showcases a collection of 12 pregnant women emojis. The cover art became a major topic of conversation online with Drake receiving a mountain of negative feedback surrounding the album cover.

The cover art was slammed by critics who labelled it as ‘ridiculous’ but mainly ‘lazy’. The album cover even ranked number one on Exclaim!’s list of the ‘30 Worst Album Covers of 2021’.
The main problem that I, and many others, have with the album cover is that it does not represent the lyrical contents of the album (or even feature the title) in any way.
In my reworked version of the album cover I took a still from the album trailer which featured Drake recreating his past album covers. Using a still from the trailer as the basis of the cover art seemed like the most appropriate choice since many critics who did praise the album stated that the body of work featured sounds similar to his earlier records. I also used this still as I loved how the silhouette worked hand in hand with the heavy theme of loneliness throughout the album. I believe that this reworked album cover highlights the key themes and nature ‘Certified Lover Boy’ as opposed to the original cover which lacks any type of depth to it.
