FOR THIS EDITION OF SUPERYACHT INDUSTRY, WE HAVE DECIDED TO SHOWCASE SOME NEW DESIGNS FROM SEVERAL DIFFERENT YACHT BUILDERS AND DESIGN STUDIOS FOR ALL THE YACHT LOVERS INTERESTED IN THE NEW LUXURY YACHT DESIGNS OF 2021. YACHT DESIGN IS AT TIMES the unglorifed heart of the luxury yacht industry, as this is where a large custom yacht begins her journey, from concept to eventual launch and navigation. Let’s look at some new designs in the yachting industry.

Columbus Yachts, a brand of Palumbo Superyachts, happily announced the launch of a new line devoted to elegance and versatility: Atlantique. The frst of a series of 3 boats, the Columbus Atlantique 43m fully refects Hot Lab’s design philosophy of, ‘Architecture for Voyagers’, a combination of stylistic, design, and functional elements dedicated to traveling by sea to fully enjoy every single moment on board. Hot Lab, responsible for both exterior and interior design, has pushed the interaction of spaces with the marine environment to the limit. The hull silhouette is reminiscent of yachts of bygone days and the stern area, with its large

panoramic swimming pool, is just 50cm above water.

Atlantique 43 is a yacht designed to the exact requirements of the owner and his family, characterised by large outdoor areas that seamlessly merge with the generous interior spaces. The indoor areas of the main and upper decks allow for total contact with the surrounding landscape. Her exterior lines are clean and elegant, with a touch of sportiness reminiscent of the most admired Italian GT cars in the world. The sailboat-style stern of the Atlantique 43 is perhaps her most distinctive area. The central swimming pool surrounded by a C-shaped seat facing astern is highly scenic. The whole area is very low on the water thanks to the choice of digging the aft section and taking it to just 50cm from the sea, in addition to the two folding side wings that enhance the feeling of direct contact with the natural environment. Immediately behind and only two steps up, are two large L-shaped seats facing aft and an expandable table seating.

Indoor, the main saloon is typifed by two relaxation areas. The rest of the main deck is divided into several areas; moving starboard towards the bow is the main lobby with the stairwell, the double-exit lift and further on, access to a guest area that can be used as a small gym or library. The forward port area of the main deck is instead dedicated to the crew and houses a pantry, a cold room, the laundry, the main galley, and even a crew mess. The deck is completed by the captain cabin with an ensuite bathroom and a second garage for rescue tender and toys. The upper deck is mainly reserved for the owner (in the six cabin version) and characterised by an entirely private aft terrace. The sundeck version includes an external staircase for access from the stern as well. The owner’s studio, a large dressing room with a comfortable sea view vanity, and the owner’s bathroom with tub and shower complete this area. The bow features an outdoor lounge area and a second swimming pool surrounded by sun pads. The lower deck houses fve cabins, two VIP with bathroom at side, two twin, and a full-beam VIP suite. The lower deck forward is dedicated to the crew, with four double cabins, each with their own bathroom, and a staircase leading to the second crew area on the main deck. In the fve cabin version, the owner’s cabin is located on the main deck and features four large cabins below deck.

Proposed as a stately, contemporary ‘classic’, the Commodore 57 aims to achieve the robust charm of timeless seagoing vessels, without the compromises of vintage builds. The fowing, airy spaces aboard, combined with unique features and systems, will help ensure a truly capable yacht. Amenities include an enclosed 10.4m expedition tender, 8.5m sport RIB, eco-friendly hybrid power, fve staterooms, beach club, sauna, masseuse suite, elevator, pool and hot tub, dive centre, fared bow giving on-deck safety for passengers, and crew of twelve.

The name of the concept highlights the extreme practicality of this yacht. A Commodore, being a senior naval commander, knows what works and what makes sense. Such an experienced man would order a purposeful, no-nonsense yacht like this. The Commodore 57 includes a 10.4m enclosed expedition tender, a fne machine for exploring. Being the perfect companion to the mother ship, this 10.4m craft has been called Blackthorn, after the stick traditionally carried by a Commodore.

The exterior has a wide range of spaces with a logical layout and many functional elements, all arranged artfully. One of her hallmarks is the transformability of certain areas such as the aft deck and sky lounge. The bow deck hosts one of the two spa pools aboard, a raised seating group positioned ahead of the foremast, and a 5.5m rescue tender that can be launched within seconds using a preprogrammed robotic crane. From there, the access stairs lead the guests to the lounge coach roof. The second pool is located on the deck lounge, along with a shaded drink bar, various sun loungers, and great views. The beach club area is one deck below and includes both a sauna and a treatment and massage suite. A second, bottom-hinger beach platform emerges from the port side. Liebowitz & Partners has unveiled two proposals for Commodore 57’s interior: light colours are the essence of the frst concept, while the second one is based on a darker palette.

Vripack Yacht Design and Royal Huisman have for the very frst time unveiled the overall looks of the magnifcent new Project 406. At 52m, this ground-breaking creation will be the largest, most luxurious, and individual true sportfsh yacht in the world. Vripack Yacht Design is responsible for the exterior and interior design and naval architecture of this highly prestigious project, in close collaboration with Royal Huisman. The project is managed by Aqua Marine representing the owner’s team, working closely with Bush & Noble and Hampshire Marine as technical managers in a close cooperation to deliver an exceptional project.

The yacht’s purposeful lines sweep dramatically aft from her distinctive long and sleek bow, via six towering decks to the stylish downward arc of her stern profle. The unique vessel effortlessly blends the ultimate sportfshing experience with genuine superyacht scale, comfort, and refnement. The sky lounge offers the extraordinary theatre of spectacular fsh catches by day, and the relaxed ambience and stunning outlook of a boutique hotel penthouse by night. Designed for an experienced owner passionate

about fshing, Project 406 will be immaculately and extensively ftted out, both for high end sportfshing and for luxurious living. Her Alustar aluminium hull and superstructure offer strength and resilience, as well as the lighter weight that facilitates smooth and effcient passages from berth to fshing grounds.

Sportfshing has in recent decades attracted many new owners, with larger boats growing to around 30m in length, with a handful exceeding 40m. Against this backdrop, Project 406’s 52m is a serious step up, involving signifcant design and engineering challenges for her designers and builders at Vripack and Royal Huisman. A challenge both are keen to take on.
