Theprojectconsistsindemolishingthe existingdisusedstructureinthepast operatedasapastafactoryandbuilding amixed-usedevelopmentwhichoffers3 undergroundlevelsofparkingspaces, 4-storeywarehousingareaandareceded levelatthetopfloorassignedasoffice space.

Thedevelopmenthasalightweightand transparentskin,madebypolycarbonate modularshapedpanelswhichwrapsall aroundthestructure,givingtothe curvedandtiltedfacadeanextraordinary effectofahugefishscale.

Thefishscale-likedesignhasbeen conceivedinordertogivethefacade exquisiteuniformityanddynamism.

Thepeoplepassingbytheindustrial complexjustonwalkordrivingtheir vehiclescanexperiencetheimpression thatthebuildingisbreathing.

Especiallyatnight,thefeelingof dynamismisevokedthankstothe artificialdimlightsysteminstalledbehind theskinmadeupof960translucent polycarbonatepanels.

PROJECTDESCRIPTION:

Theprojectwasconceptualisedfora competitionsponsoredbySkyParks Development,aimingtoexpandthe existingbusinessareabyintroducinga hospitality-officetower,alongwitha separatebuildingforofficesandretail. Additionally,theoveralllandscapeand parkingareasrequiredcomprehensive redevelopment, necessitating new accessibilityfeatures.

Thedesignapproachforthetower revolvesaroundacircularshape,aligning withtheadjacentroadandestablishinga seamlessfacadecontinuity.Notonly doesthisconfigurationcontributetoan aestheticallypleasingdesign,butitalso enhancestheoverallvisualcoherenceof the structure. Considering the significanceoforientation,distinctive vertical red elements have been strategicallyintegratedintothefacade. Theseelementsprovideshadetothe glazedfacadeconsequentlyreducing energyconsumptionfortemperature controlduringthewarmerseasons.On theoppositesideofthetower,a deliberatealternationbetweenregular andfrostedglasspanelscreatesa captivatingcheckeredeffectonthe facade.Inordertopreservethetower's slenderprofile,thecentralsection experiences a gradual reduction, introducingadynamicelementthat resultsinvaryingbalconydepthsoneach floor.

Thethoughtfulconsiderationofboth formandfunctioninthisprojectreflects acommitmenttoinnovativedesignand sustainablepractices.

Despitetheinherentcomplexitiesarising fromthedistinctiveshapesoftheseplots, thefocushasbeenonmaximizingthe interiorspaceoftheunits.Thishasbeen achievedbyskillfullymanagingthe layouttoensuresufficientlightand ventilation,adheringtoMaltesesanitary standards,whilesimultaneouslycrafting aestheticallypleasingdesignsforboth theinteriorandexteriorfacadesofthe buildings.Theemphasisliesincreating livingspacesthatnotonlycomplywith regulations but also provide a comfortable and visually appealing environmentfortheresidents.

Theinventivesolutionsappliedto overcomechallengesinlightand ventilationunderscorethecommitment tomeetingregulatoryrequirements withoutcompromisingontheoverall qualityandaestheticintegrityofthe residentialprojects.
