Cangas de Onis: La Asturias eterna

COVADONGA, RUTA DE PEREGRINACIÓN

El valle de Covadonga se encuentra situado al Norte de los Picos de Europa, en el municipio de Cangas de Onís, y es el centro de peregrinación mariana más importante de España.

Covadonga seduce por la belleza de su paisaje, por su valor cultural, y por el eco de su espiritualidad, convirtiéndose en una referencia clave de la historia de Asturias y de España.

La Basílica de Santa María la Mayor de Covadonga se alza en medio del verde valle del río, flotando sobre la típica niebla asturiana, paisaje digno de ver en persona.

LA JOYA DE LOS QUESOS, SABOR DE LEÑA Y CUEVA

Este enclave asturiano también destaca por su gastronomía, como ya mencionábamos, aunque no por cualquier plato, sino por un queso reconocido mundialmente, y uno de los más exclusivos. El queso Gamonéu es una variedad de queso azul con denominación de origen protegida, con un sabor único y una receta milenaria, que se elabora de forma artesanal únicamente en las cuevas y valles de Cangas de Onís, en el corazón de los Picos de Europa.

Probar el queso Gamonéu es probar la tradición, textura, el olor y el sabor a Asturias, y así lo hace saber la Cofradía de los amigos del queso Gamonéu desde el 2004, cuya meta es dar a conocer este queso tan singular. La cueva donde se encuentra la Virgen, “La Santina”, tiene como acceso un hermoso túnel de piedra natural, donde encender una vela por tus seres queridos.

Existe una fuente a los pies de la cueva con forma de cáliz, de la cual salen siete chorros de agua bendita. La tradición reza “La virgen de Covadonga tiene una fuente muy clara, la niña que de ella beba, dentro del año se casa”.

This Asturian point also stands out for its gastronomy, as we already mentioned, although not just a dish, but for a cheese recognized worldwide, and one of the most exclusive and expensive.

Gamonéu cheese is a variety of blue cheese with protected designation of origin, with a unique flavor and an ancient recipe, which is made in an artisanal way only in the caves and valleys of Cangas de Onís, in the heart of Picos de Europa.

Taste Gamonéu cheese is taste the tradition, texture, smell and flavor of Asturias, and this is what the “Brotherhood of Gamonéu cheese” has been doing since 2004, whose goal is to raise awareness of this unique cheese. The valley of Covadonga is located to the north of Picos de Europa, in the municipality of Cangas de Onís, and is the most important Marian pilgrimage point in Spain.

Covadonga seduces by the beauty of its landscape, by its cultural value, and by the echo of its spirituality, becoming a key reference in the history of Asturias and Spain.

The Basilica of St. Mary the greater of Covadonga rises in the middle of the green river valley, floating above the typical Asturian fog, a landscape worth seeing in person.

The cave where the Virgin is located has as access a beautiful natural stone tunnel, where you can light a candle for your loved ones.

There is a fountain at the foot of the cave with the shape of a chalice, from which seven streams of holy water come out. The tradition says “The virgin of Covadonga has a very clear fountain, the girl who drinks from it, within a year she gets married”.

They are located in the high area of Cangas de Onis, called Cangas de arriba, where you have a 360º perspective of both forests, and mountains. You will have the whole Cangas at your feet.

En esta ocasión os queremos recomendar que no dejéis pasar el verano sin acudir al menos en una ocasión a este pequeño paraíso a tan solo una hora de nuestra querida Marbella.

Afrikana tiene posiblemente una de las mejores vistas que podemos disfrutar en Tarifa, situado en alto y en frente ya del Océano Atlántico, podemos ver África mientras disfrutamos de la mejor música o bebida.

El staff de Afrikana te hará sentir parte del lugar y te llevarán a un punto de relax y disfrute como pocas veces habrás tenido la oportunidad de vivir.

On this occasion we would like to recommend that you don’t let the summer go by without going at least once to this little paradise just an hour from our beloved Marbella.

Afrikana has possibly one of the best views we can enjoy in Tarifa, located high and in front of the Atlantic Ocean, we can see Africa while enjoying the best music or drinks.

The staff at Afrikana will make you feel part of the place and will take you to a point of relaxation and enjoyment like you have rarely had the opportunity to experience.

One of the biggest advantages of the Afrikana Tarifa is that without having to leave the place or your table you can go down to enjoy a swim in the always majestic beach of Valdevaqueros, as you will be in the water in a minute and you can come back for lunch any of the delicious dishes they offer. Special mention for their delicious gazpacho or their grilled squid, which are not to be missed.

You can enjoy a full day at Afrikana because you have to stay to see the sunset which is spectacular and if you are lucky it might coincide with an open air concert, you can’t ask for more. I hope you enjoy it as much as we did. Happy summer to all of you and see you at Afrikana.

CÓRDOBA

Córdoba es una ciudad con un ingente legado cultural y monumental.
