Según la RAE una gema es “Nombre genérico de las piedras preciosas”, seis palabras que saben a poco para los apasionados de las gemas. Una gema, también llamada piedra preciosa, es una roca, mineral, vidrio o producto orgánico de origen natural, que al ser cortado o pulido se puede usar en la confección de joyas u objetos artísticos. Para la Confederación Mundial de Joyería una gema debe ser adicionalmente, de muy alta calidad o perfección.

Las gemas siempre han sido un misterioso regalo de la Naturaleza. Su formación, vetas y vivos colores las hacen únicas. Los egipcios eran unos apasionados de las piedras preciosas, las tallaban a mano y las convertían en hermosas joyas, que luego lucían tanto hombres como mujeres. Eran conscientes de las propiedades beneficiosas de las piedras, de la influencia de su energía en nuestro estado de ánimo y de los poderes que nos otorgan.

Son cientos las gemas existentes. Seleccionar las gemas para la marca Shankla® no es fruto del azar, si no de un detallado estudio de las propiedades de cada una de ellas.

La palabra CORNALINA viene de la palabra latina para la carne (“carnis”) y se aplica a cualquier ágata de color rojizo. Se encuentra principalmente en India y en yacimientos de America del Sur, Australia, Rusia y EEUU. Los egipcios ya decoraban sus tumbas con esta gema, atribuyéndole el poder de ayudar a las almas en su viaje al más allá. En cuanto a las propiedades de la cornalina aporta paz y equilibrio, facilita la creatividad y la sociabilidad y proporciona grandes dosis de optimismo y alegría. Asociada tradicionalmente a los signos del zodiaco Tauro, Cáncer, Leo y Virgo.

According to the RAE a gem is “Generic name of precious stones”, six words that are not enough for lovers of gems. A gem, also called a precious stone, is a rock, mineral, glass or organic product of natural origin, which when cut or polished can be used in the manufacture of jewelery or artistic objects. For the World Jewelery Confederation a gem must additionally be of very high quality or perfection.

Gems have always been a mysterious gift from Nature. Their formation, veins and bright colors make them unique. The Egyptians were passionate about precious stones, they carved them by hand and turned them into beautiful jewels, which were later worn by both men and women. They were aware of the beneficial properties of stones, the influence of their energy on our mood and the powers they give us.

There are hundreds of gems. Selecting the gems for the Shankla® brand is not the result of chance, but rather of a detailed study of the properties of each one of them.

The word CORNELIAN comes from the latin word for the flesh (“carnis”) and applies to any agate that is reddish. It is found mainly in India, South America, Australia, Russia and USA. The Egyptians already decorated their tombs with this gem, attributing the power to help the souls in their journey to the beyond.

As for the properties of cornelian it brings peace and balance, facilitates creativity and sociability and provides large doses of optimism and joy. Traditionally associated with Taurus, Cancer, Leo and Virgo.

El NÁCAR o MADREPERLA se crea en la parte interna de los caparazones de los moluscos, como las ostras. Por tanto, el nácar es el material madre de las perlas, de ahí su otro nombre: madreperla. El LAPISLAZULI es una gema que podría haber salido de “Las Mil y Una Noches” por su azul índigo profundo con inclusiones doradas de pirita que brillan como pequeñas estrellas. El nombre se compone de “lapis” palabra de origen latina que significa piedra y “azula” que proviene del árabe y significa azul. Históricamente muy apreciada en ornamentación y joyería. Las mejores muestras proceden de yacimientos en Afganistan, Rusia o Chile. Desde hace cientos de años se le atribuyen multiples propiedades al Lapislázuli: despeja la mente, fomenta las relaciones sociales y está considerada la piedra del amor. LAPIS LAZULI is a gem that could have come out of “The Thousand and One Nights” for its deep indigo blue with golden inclusions of pyrite that shine like tiny stars. The name is made up of “lapis” a word of Latin origin that means stone and “azula” that comes from Arabic and means blue. Historically highly prized in ornamentation and jewelry.
