Each of these statements require a Judgement + Reason.

A hypothesis and thesis statement can be tested. A contention is one possible assertion that can be argued with or against.

To write your hypothesis, you must answer the assessment question and provide a clear reason (or reasons) for your statement or stance.

Annotated Bibliography

An annotated bibliography is an alphabetical list of bibliographic information (APA style) and a summary and/or evaluation of each source.

Features

• Listed in alphabetical order.

• One paragraph per source.

• Restate the main argument.

• Addresses the purpose of the source and/or information.

• Assesses the relevance or usefulness of the source to the task.

Language

• Formal language is used.

• Use of verbs to summarise and discuss the text e.g. argues, assesses, claims, indicates, investigates, concludes…
