Homecoming Program 2015

WELCOME HOME

GLAD YOU’RE HERE!

I want to personally thank all of you for coming out to celebrate Maranatha’s 2015 Homecoming Game! It takes a team effort to put together an event like this and many thanks goes out to those who put in many hours to help make this a fun and memorable event! Attending a Maranatha football game feels like you’ve stepped into a time machine and landed in the middle of the 1950’s – a time when families from small towns rallied around their home teams and cheered their boys to victory. We make every effort to create a family-friendly environment for you, and hope you enjoy the Homecoming festivities, cheerleaders, floats, pep band, food trucks, and football! Maranatha’s enrollment has grown, school spirit is at an all-time high, and the Athletic Program is on an upswing. With a new High School building on the way, along with a potential full renovation of our Athletic Fields, we are primed for further growth. The Lord is blessing Maranatha! As many of you know, we are changing the very heart of our Athletic Program by emphasizing player development. Strength, speed, agility, and skill training are being heavily implemented. More importantly, all of our coaches are encouraging our players to do ‘All Things’ for God’s glory. We know that if we play in a manner that pleases Him, we will have a successful program. Last year, 7 of our 8 team sports qualified for CIF playoff berths, and we are hoping to repeat or better that record this year. After winning the Ocean League title in 2014, our football team has moved up a level to the Pacific League and has a legitimate shot at winning back-to-back titles. Tonight’s game pits two of the league’s best teams, and the result will have a huge impact on who will walk away with the league championship. Exciting stuff! Thanks again for coming and we hope you have a fantastic time! All Things! Steve Whitley | Athletic Director

He also adores ice cream. He would like to attend the Coast Guard Academy next fall. His favorite quote is, “It’s not about how hard you hit, it’s about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward...It’s about how much you can take and keep moving forward...That’s how winning is done...” And his favorite Bible verse is Micah 6:8, “He has shown you, O man, what is good; and what does the LORD require of you but to do justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God?”

MORGAN WURTZLER DANIEL TRENT Daniel likes to play football for the Maranatha Eagles and having pasta dinners at his house for his team. He enjoys hanging out with his friends and family, as well as his brothers and sisters. His favorite things to do are playing guitar and visiting family in Colorado. His favorite verse is Jeremiah 29:11, “For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.” (NLT)

Morgan loves to play soccer, softball, run track, surf, and cheer. She is currently the President of National Honors Society. She enjoys exploring her creativity, through art, photography, and videography. She is adventurous and wants to travel the world. Morgan also enjoys her current involvement in missionary work, and sees herself continuing it in the future. Her favorite place to be is at the beach and she hopes to attend Point Loma Nazarene University next fall. Her favorite Bible verse is 2 Corinthians 4:18, “So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.”
