Dear MCS Family and Friends, After months of waiting‌we have the permits to Finish-the-Fields! Thank you for your prayers and patience during this delay. It is your unwavering support that has enabled us to reach this monumental point in the growth of Maranatha Christian Schools. With over 75% of all Jr. High & High School students involved in a sport, 38 teams (Jr. High and High School), and our growing TK-12th Physical Education program, moving forward on this project will make a major impact for all our Eagle families. While we were all hoping to see the fields completed in time for the 201819 school year, it is clear now that God had other plans for our timeline. We used the delay to investigate all aspects of the project thoroughly and to ensure would get the best contractor and sports turf possible.

We are thrilled to announce, we will be using Hellas Construction for the construction and installation of cutting-edge, sport-specific synthetic turf. Hellas Construction is headquartered in Austin, Texas and is the largest sports design/build/construction and turf contractors in the United States with over 2,500 projects nationwide - from schools and community projects to universities and professional teams like the Raiders, Dolphins, LA Rams & Chargers, Texans and Dallas Cowboys (click here for Business Insider article). Closer to home, examples of their work can be found at | Cathedral Catholic | Orange Glen | University of California Berkeley - Memorial Stadium | University of San Diego | City of Oceanside Maranatha Christian Schools will be the first sports complex in San Diego to use Hellas Construction’s 100% Organic* Geo Plus Infill! That means no crumb rubber! Geo Plus Infill is made from carefully selected, specially treated, natural coconut fibers and cork to ensure the highest level of sports performance, compared to the experience on a natural grass field, and with 90% less water usage. Geo Plus can reduce surface temperatures by up to 40 degrees Fahrenheit. The days of melting cleats and crumb rubber concerns will not be seen or heard here at MCS! As always, we place the safety of our student body above all else. The Chairman of the School Board, our Athletic Director and myself had the pleasure of visiting many schools throughout Texas who have installed the cutting-edge sports turf and all natural in-fill through Hellas and were beyond amazed at what we found. The low temperature, safety, aesthetics and playability factors of the turf and in-fill are second to none! Attached is a picture of myself standing barefoot on a football field in Texas with the outside temperature of 96 degrees and my feet felt just fine. We are proud to be the first school in San Diego to install synthetic fields that do not compromise in playability for high-end athletes or the safety our students.
We are grateful the MCS Board and all our families who support the growth of our campus to meet the needs of our current and future Eagle families. It will take an estimated time of five months to complete the full scope of this project. Please pray for a smooth and successful project.
