Dear Eagle Supporters, Over the last few years Maranatha Athletics has risen to new heights and is now competing at a level never seen before. To say there is a buzz and excitement around campus regarding the growing success of our athletics program is an understatement! Continued growth in the student body, coupled with success on the fields and courts, has driven up the participation of student-athletes. MCS can now proudly claim that over 75% of all Jr. High & High School students are involved in a sport. While this is great news, it has also led the Athletic Department to scramble to accommodate all 38 teams (Jr. High & High School) and the entire Physical Education Program (TK-12th) on very limited field and court space (on and off campus). Adding to this stress is the deterioration of our current fields resulting in over-usage. The fields are well past the point of patch and play and are not allowing us to expand the growing athletic program. Simply put, it’s time for a major overhaul and renovation and it’s time to put our kids on the fields that they deserve and the community expects. In late February, your Superintendent and MCS School Board (seeking to address the field issues) unanimously voted to move forward with planning and permits to undertake a $3.5 million dollar project to Finish-theFields, including an application-submission to the County for future field lights.
The Athletic Fields project plans will include:
• Two new multi-use cutting-edge synthetic turf athletic fields • Girls softball field (synthetic turf) • Renovated and rotated baseball field (synthetic turf) • Upgraded sports courts for outdoor volleyball and basketball • New sprint lanes and jump pit for track athletes • Electrical housing and foundation for future light standards around the perimeter of all of the fields • Application to the County for field lights that cover all MCS athletic fields
The completion of this multi-use field project will be a game changer for the Athletic Program and all MCS athletes. With more field space and top-tier synthetic playing surfaces, Maranatha Athletics hopes to generate continued student athlete participation and carry on its winning trajectory. Lastly, the school desires to create a place where its students can discover their God-given talents and thrive in a highly competitive athletic environment as Christian athletes honoring God in all things. The completion goal for the entire project is this August, 2018 – just in time for the 2018-2019 Football Season! To make this a reality, MCS is looking to all of its devoted sports families to help the school raise 20% of the total $3.5 million amount of the field project to help as a down payment. The MCS School Board has made the commitment to move forward with grading as soon as this May, 2018, if the school can raise $700K in pledges by May 1, 2018 with a promise to fulfill pledges by August 31, 2018.
