Your Chamber works every day to make our community a place where businesses can grow and prosper, where people want to raise their families and tourists want to visit.

To meet this mission, the Chamber’s organizational structure includes specific committees to create a strong economy and business climate.

As a member-based nonprofit organization, it allows members and businesses to help drive the focus of the Chamber of Commerce and meet the needs of our business community. By including our members in the discussion, the Chamber is the center of our community and is able to adapt as needed. We are the voice of our business community due to your participation and engagement.

AMBASSADORS

The Ambassadors are the oldest and largest standing committee. Ambassadors are the public relations arm of the organization that works for business and community interests in Josephine County.

This fun group of business representatives dedicate themselves to serving the entire Chamber membership by promoting the Chamber’s message and mission to fellow business professionals within our community.

BUSINESS RETENTION & EXPANSION (BR&E)

The purpose of BR&E is to help existing local businesses grow, expand and overcome obstacles. Formal face-to-face business surveys are conducted every three years to gather vital information to provide assistance to local companies. After the survey the chamber implements symposiums, forums and workshops to help in the areas that businesses need at that current time. They also engage with City Council, County Commissioners and government agencies to relay important concerns from the business community.

This committee reviews monthly financials and helps create the annual budget. They serve as an advisory committee for all financial guidance. As a 501c6, this is an important step for monitoring and financial stability.

GOVERNMENT AFFAIRS

Chair - Josh Ballock, Allcare Health

This committee is the advocacy arm of the Chamber. They identify, evaluate, and recommend positions to the Board of Directors on national, state, and local governmental political issues and opportunities that will impact the business community and economy in Josephine County. The committee also promotes community awareness, engagement and education on issues impacting the community through forums and other resources. The committee is bipartisan and covers what is in the best interest of businesses.

LEMONADE DAY

Chair- Billy Rossknecht, Hart Insurance

Lemonade Day is a fun, experiential program that teaches youth how to start, own and operate their very own business - a lemonade stand. Youth have the opportunity to experience entrepreneurship by setting up their business during our community-wide Lemonade Day in August. The Chamber continues to branch out to work with all ages in our community to develop our future leaders.

YOUNG PROFESSIONAL NETWORK (YPN)

Chair- Robyn Lasky, Oregon Broker at RE/MAX Integrity

This group is for young professionals in the target age range of 21-45 who are looking for networking opportunities with other young professionals, connections to the community and business leaders, community engagement, and professional development. YPN holds monthly luncheons, professional development & quarterly socials. They also organize an annual community service project. This group is creating the next generation of business and community leaders.

AWARDS BANQUET

Annually we hold our Awards Banquet to celebrate business. We look back at the accomplishments for the previous year, our goals for the upcoming year, and to present the business award winners. It is an evening to honor local businesses and organizations as well as personal contributions to the community.

CANDIDATE FORUMS

The Grants Pass & Josephine County Chamber of Commerce hosts candidate forums to support advocacy, communication, and community engagement—core pillars of our mission. These events give members and the public a chance to hear directly from candidates, understand their positions on key business issues, and make informed decisions. By fostering dialogue and transparency, we ensure the voices of local businesses are heard in the policymaking process, helping to build a stronger economic future for our region.

CONCERTS IN THE PARK

Concerts in the Park is a beloved community-building event that the Grants Pass & Josephine County Chamber of Commerce has proudly hosted for nearly 40 years. This free summer concert series brings families, friends, and neighbors together to enjoy live music in a fun, welcoming atmosphere. We’re excited to announce that the event will return to Riverside Park this year, continuing the tradition of fostering connection, supporting local talent, and celebrating the vibrant spirit of our community.

BUSINESS AFTER HOURS

Business after Hours is the premiere networking event for business professionals. It is generally hosted by a business once a month from 5:30pm-7:00 pm. A great opportunity to discuss and share ideas while learning about other local businesses.

It is a relationship-building experience held in a relaxed setting that benefits you and your company through added contacts and resources. Stay for 20 minutes or enjoy the full event. Business After Hours are typically held the third Thursday of each month.

BUSINESS FOR BREAKFAST –GREETERS

This active group of businesses and organizations start their Wednesday mornings early at 8:00 am to 9:00 am with some laughs and announcements about what is going on in the community.  Each week is hosted by a business at their location or the location of their choice, that can accommodate 65-80 people. Check the calendar to see who the business host is each week and location. Each attendee has one opportunity to promote their products and services.

KICKSTART

Workshop for new members or a refresher for current members on available benefits available through membership. This workshops also includes hands-on business directory training.

LEMONADE DAY

Lemonade Day event empowers local youth to learn the fundamentals of entrepreneurship by planning, launching, and running their own lemonade stands. This hands-on experience teaches valuable skills like budgeting, marketing, customer service, and goal-setting. Aligned with the Chamber’s mission to support and promote local commerce, Lemonade Day helps inspire the next generation of business leaders while fostering a spirit of innovation, responsibility, and community involvement.

PEERSPECTIVES FORUMS

The Chamber’s Peerspectives forums, held quarterly and hosted by our Business Retention & Expansion Committee, bring members together to address key issues impacting the local business community. These solution-focused gatherings are designed to engage and educate, offering a platform for open dialogue, shared experiences, and collaborative problem-solving. By highlighting challenges and exploring practical strategies as a community, Peerspectives strengthens local business connections and supports long-term economic vitality in our region.

TAP WALK

This is the valley’s premier craft beer event held in beautiful Grants Pass. The Chamber of Commerce places breweries, food vendors and restaurants inside downtown businesses. Participants stroll from location-to-location sampling amazing craft brews and delicious food!

Each year, the Grants Pass & Josephine County Chamber of Commerce hosts our Annual Awards Banquet to recognize the exceptional achievements of local businesses, organizations, and individuals who make our community a better place. This year’s sold-out event was a night to remember as we honored many remarkable accomplishments—including the presentation of a special Lifetime Achievement Award to Mary Lou Thomason for her decades of leadership, service, and unwavering dedication to our region.

We were also proud to launch the inaugural Catalyst program, a new initiative designed to support the growth of local businesses through sponsored Chamber memberships. The Catalyst fundraiser was made possible thanks to the generosity of local business owners and community members who were inspired to share the value and effectiveness of Chamber membership with new and growing enterprises. Their support ensures that more businesses can access the resources, advocacy, and connections the Chamber provides.

Honoring the Living Legacy of MaryLou Thomason

The Grants Pass & Josephine County Chamber of Commerce is bringing Lemonade Day back on August 9th! Last year 300 kids participated! This program continues to grow and evolve preparing out next generation of entrepreneurs.

Throughout the course of the program, these young entrepreneurs learn how to start, own, and operate their own business- a lemonade stand. They learn business skills, financial literacy, goal setting, and teamwork. This experience helps spark an explosion of new confidence in their abilities and a new vision of the possibilities for the future. Participants are encouraged to spend

some, save some for the future, and share some with a local nonprofit of their choice.

Ages in the program ranges from K-8TH grade. Each participant will learn valuable skills. Lessons include creating a budget, finding investors, customer service, product creation, selling tips and more.

This is an annual event for the Grants Pass & Josephine County Chamber of Commerce. The Chamber continues to branch out to work with all ages in our community to develop our future leaders.

THE OREGON CAVES

Nestled within Oregon Caves National Monument, the Oregon Caves Chateau stands as a testament to early 20th-century rustic architecture and the burgeoning era of automobile tourism. Constructed between 1931 and 1934, this six-story lodge was designed by local architect Gust Lium, utilizing native materials like Port Orford cedar to harmonize with its natural surroundings. The Chateau features 25 unique rooms, a fine dining room, and a 1930s-era coffee shop, embodying the charm of that period.

The development of the Chateau was closely tied to the efforts of the Grants Pass Chamber of Commerce in the early 1900s. Recognizing the potential of the Oregon Caves as a tourist destination, the Chamber played a pivotal role in funding and promoting the construction of a highway to the caves, which officially opened on June 27, 1922. This new accessibility sparked significant public interest and underscored the need for upscale accommodations to serve automobile travelers—a symbol of status and modernity at the time.

In response, local businessmen established the Oregon Caves Company in 1922, with the vision of enhancing visitor experience by providing lodging and other amenities near the caves. Their commitment led to the creation of the Chateau, which has since become an iconic part of the monument’s landscape.

The Chateau at the Oregon Caves serves as a critical economic pillar and vital part of our national heritage, standing proud as a treasured “Great Lodge” in the National Park Service. Like all historically significant structures, the Chateau has faced challenges in maintaining and renovating its structural integrity and was designated in 2016 as one of Oregon’s Most Endangered Places by Restore Oregon, highlighting the urgent need for preservation efforts. While the Oregon Caves National Monument remains open to seasonal visitors, the Chateau is closed for extensive rehabilitation and restoration, enhancing accessibility and to maintain its unique features as a historic architectural marvel, ensuring that this National Historic Landmark can continue to welcome visitors for generations to come.

In 2024, Oregon Caves National Monument and Preserve was recognized as a dark sky destination following a three-year night sky monitoring program and a comprehensive in-park lighting assessment. The designation bring stargazers to the Siskiyou Mountains of southwestern Oregon where the 4,554-acre Oregon Caves National Monument and Preserve sprawls. The park, which is now recognized for its inky black skies, has long protected a sprawling system of caves and passages that offer their own brand of darkness.

CITY OF GRANTS PASS

The City of Grants Pass prides itself on creating a climate that supports a healthy economic ecosystem; one built on dynamic networks, robust partnerships, and cultivated collaborations. These conditions foster an environment for the area’s strategic growth. Grants Pass is a mecca for small business with leverageable assets.

Small Business

Home-grown business is an economic staple. The city works closely with the Rogue Community College Small Business Development Center (RCC SBDC) and the Grants Pass & Josephine County Chamber of Commerce (Chamber) to assist entrepreneurs and business owners with growth, recruitment, expansion, and retention. Many small businesses launch at the Growers’ Market, a Saturday morning tradition in Grants Pass for more than 43 years. In the 2022 Summary Data Business Survey, businesses rated Grants Pass highly as a good/ very good place to live (96%) and do business (83%). “Area businesses see many advantages to operating in this community, chief among them the sense of community and quality of life here…” From a twoman coffee cart to the Wall Street stock board, Grants Pass has seen entrepreneurs like Dutch Brothers grow to a publicly traded company because of the strong support of local customers. In the city of Grants Pass, “the friendly, small-town feel, and support of loyal customers are especially valued.”

Josephine County businesses give the local community high scores for many local services and amenities. The top-rated city services are fire protection (89% good/very good with 43% very good), police (81% good/very good), disposal/recycling (71%), streets (71%) and sewers (70%). City tourism (67%), parks and rec (60%), downtown parking (53%) and City Administration (53%) are also seen by the majority as either good or very good. Post secondary education (64%) and healthcare (56%) are also favorably viewed by more than half. (2022 Summary Data Business Survey)

Strategic Growth

Solid regional partnerships help the city provide support to manufacturing and primary industries. Southern Oregon Regional Economic Development Inc (SOREDI) promotes and manages tax incentives for key industrial sites, like Spalding Industrial Park, while the city offers matching grants and low-interest loan incentives dedicated to infrastructure and development. In the past two years, Grants Pass Urban Renewal Agency (URA) has awarded eleven grants totaling nearly

one million dollars, contributing to private investment in infrastructure, energy efficiency, and accessibilities improvements. The URA has additionally dedicated several million dollars to public infrastructure and amenities, like the Spalding Industrial sewer upgrade and the downtown event space at Owl Plaza. Grants Pass’s strategic location at the intersection of three state highways combined with two I-5 interchanges, a short rail line and the Grants Pass Airport provides transportation advantages for ease of commerce.

Robust partnerships with Business Oregon, WorkSource Oregon, Rogue Workforce Partnership, Rogue Community College, Southern Oregon University, makerspaces, and coworking spaces are further developing the Southern Oregon Innovation Hub. The regional collaboration between partners seeks to nurture our economic ecosystem and support entrepreneurs and workers at whichever point they enter the market. Regular design workshops, pitch opportunities, and networking events are part of the Grants Pass entrepreneur landscape.

Tourism

The City of Grants Pass sponsors three major community events: 4th of July Celebration, Art Along the Rogue Chalk Art and Music Festival, and the Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony. Each event provides an opportunity for local businesses and vendors to showcase their goods and services, and for many, the chance to give back. Our community members and businesses value the economic stimulus and draw these events provide.

To further promote tourism activities, in 2023 the City created the Sustainable Tourism Grant, awarding businesses and organizations funds to promote events that bring visitors to town which in turn supports lodging, hospitality, restaurants, merchants, and retailers. Thus far, the program has provided eighteen awards totaling $70,000 to extend the promotional reach for local events and tourist activities.

Grants Pass has an especially vibrant downtown with a cute historic, quaint feel. The community invests in the heart of the city and has formed a downtown organization to support merchants and strengthen the core. Main Street Grants Pass works directly with downtown property and business owners to create continuity and secure state grants to assist with private.

MAIN STREET GRANTS PASS: REVITALIZING THE HEART OF OUR COMMUNITY

In the vibrant tapestry of Grants Pass, the downtown district stands as a testament to the city’s rich history and dynamic future. Central to the next chapter of this renaissance is Main Street Grants Pass, a nonprofit organization dedicated to breathing new life into the city’s core. Through a steadfast commitment to economic development, historic preservation, and community engagement, Main Street Grants Pass is becoming an indispensable partner to the Grants Pass & Josephine County Chamber of Commerce.

At the heart of this collaboration lies a shared vision: to foster a thriving downtown that serves as a hub for commerce, culture, and connection. Main Street Grants Pass employs a comprehensive approach, focusing on four key areas: Economic Vitality, Design, Promotion, and Organization. This strategy not only supports local businesses but also enhances the aesthetic and functional appeal of the downtown area, making it more inviting for residents and visitors alike.

The synergy between Main Street Grants Pass and the Chamber of Commerce is evident in their joint initiatives aimed at bolstering communication and strategic planning. By organizing forums, workshops, and community events, they ensure that the voices of business owners, property investors, and residents are integral to the decision-making process. This inclusive approach seeks to produce tangible improvements in downtown infrastructure and a renewed sense of community pride.

This free, family-friendly tradition returns this summer to its longtime home: Riverside Park, nestled in the heart of Grants Pass with the majestic Rogue River as its backdrop. Featuring a vibrant lineup of talent, food vendors, kids activities, and plenty of room to dance, the series is a true celebration of community spirit.

Josephine County is home to a variety of agricultural operations including dairies, farms, lavender fields, orchards, farm stands, wineries, and more! Agritourism allows visitors to see our beautiful agricultural areas, participate in farm activities, and see where their food is grown while taking some home.

AGRICULTURE TREASURES IN JOSEPHINE COUNTY

Josephine County is home to three river valleys with fertile soil making it a destination to outstanding farm to fork experiences. Take one of our scenic drives and visit some amazing gems. Fort Vannoy is a great opportunity to get local produce from their farm stand. Nothing tastes better than fresh fruits, berries, and vegetables that have just been picked. From hoop houses to row crops to fields full of the tastiest corn, Fort Vannoy Farms has all of the fresh produce you will need. They are also offering u-pick berries.

Just down the road stop at Rogue Creamery for a chance to see a working dairy including the robotic milking room and state of the art barn. Of course, cheese samples are a must as they have also been honored with the title “World’s Best Cheese” for their Rogue River Blue. The Dairy and Farm Stand also carries grilled cheese sandwiches, cold drinks, and treats for a picnic.

Of course, wineries are also a must while visiting! Southern Oregon’s world class wine country can be enjoyed all year long. Wineries are scattered throughout the Applegate and Illinois Valleys. Varieties for the climate include Pinot Noir, Merlot, Tempranillo, Syrah, Chardonnay, Riesling and more!

YPN stands as a beacon for young professionals navigating the early stages of their careers, offering a unique blend of networking, professional development, and community service opportunities. The network has quickly become a powerhouse of potential, leveraging the collective energy and creativity of its members to make a tangible impact on the local economy and community life.

What sets YPN apart is its holistic approach to professional growth and community engagement. Members find themselves not just exchanging business cards but forming meaningful connections that transcend traditional networking. THE APPLEGATE VALLEY

Recognized as premier wine country since the mid-1800s, the Applegate Valley is also known for its historical sites and natural beauty.

To explore this famously sunny landscape, follow the wind of Highway 238 out of Grants Pass. This riverside route will delight you with vineyards, tasting rooms, farm stands, the historic Lindsay Lodge Restaurant and summertime swimming holes.

While you’re in the valley, take a detour to admire the historic McKee Bridge— tied for the oldest covered bridge in Oregon. If you’re feeling a little road-weary, wander along the East Applegate Ridge Trail. This panoramic route is designated an “Oregon Signature Trail” for the way it showcases the regions distinct flora and fauna.

Hot summer days may call for a dip in Applegate Lake--beloved for its perfect swimming temperature, surrounding Red Butte Mountains and trailhead to the “Bigfoot Trap.”

You will not find an official “downtown” in the Applegate, but instead you’ll come across several hubs: Ruch, Provolt, Applegate, Murphy and Williams. These former stage coach stops are each about seven miles apart—which used to be a day’s drive by oxen and cart back in the 1800s. Means of transportation may have changed since then, but the hubs largely serve the same purpose: To provide refreshment, services and sundries to travelers and residents.

While the Applegate Valley is a destination in its own right, it can also break up a monotonous drive along I-5. Part ways with the freeway in Grants Pass and follow Highway 238 through historic Jacksonville and rejoin the I-5 in Medford or Phoenix. This can be done in reverse, of course!

SUNDANCE DISTILLERY

Brandon and Barbara Conover were born and raised right here in Grants Pass and were school sweethearts, they married in 1985 and never left the area. They spent 30 years fighting wildland fire with their fire trucks. When they retired from fighting wildfires, they started making liquor.

They mash, ferment, distill and package everything themselves here in Grants Pass. They specialize in Rum, Whiskey and Moonshine, currently producing 9 flavors of moonshine, 3 flavors of rum, 3 whiskeys and 3 unaged whiskeys. Sundance Distillery offers their awardwinning spirits at their tasting room next door to Hellgate and Co. on south sixth street near the Caveman Bridge.

STEAM DISTILLERY

Steam Distillery is located in the heart of downtown Grants Pass, offering a small craft distillery, bar and restaurant. Join them for a distillery tour or stay to unwind with one of our specialty craft cocktails. The steampunk inspired decor and exceptional service staff can be found in an historic building constructed in 1886 that was the original home of Rogue Brewing, the first brewery in Grants Pass. The brewery eventually fell victim to Prohibition but now Steam Distillery is happy to bring the “spirits” back to life as Grants Pass’ history and creative artisan craftsmanship blend for a touch of new and old. Downtown Historic Grants Pass has the small-town charm, history, and specialty shops for locals and visitors. The historic district is alive with activity, small businesses, galleries, and more. It is the full experience with free parking.

The Downtown historic district is the heart of our community. It is the perfect spot to find unique shops from boutiques, glass blowing, antique stores to local art and goods. Downtown also offers an array of shopping for jewelry, clothing, shoes, and the latest fashion trends. While shopping, don’t forget to sample local treats from the famous Blind George’s popcorn, chocolates, gelato, coffee, and more!

Take a stroll on a self-guided walking tour to learn the unique history with buildings from the 1800’s! The Famous “It’s the Climate” sign still hangs on 6th street welcoming visitors. It was first hung on July 20, 1920.

Make it a day by dining at one of the local restaurants or grabbing a drink at a taproom, distillery, or taste some local wine and cider. Downtown Grants Pass has a little bit of everything for all budgets and tastes.

Throughout the year, downtown also has several hometown celebrations including Boatnik parade, Back to the 50’s activities, Art Along the Rogue, and the Christmas Tree Lighting and parade.
