Apply for the World Skills Competition

Department of Higher Education and Training has invited young South Africans to submit applications for the 47th WorldSkills International Competition to take place in Lyon, France, late this year.

The 47th WorldSkills International Competition will feature over 1 500 competitors from 65 different countries across the world, competing in 61 skills from 10-15 September 2024.

The department said a total of 24 Skill Areas are open for application until 20 April 2023 to young South Africans who should be 22 years old or younger in September 2024.

“To be eligible to apply, you must be a student in an apprenticeship or learning programme; you must be a student undertaking studies towards a qualification at a Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) college or a Technical High School, or a student undertaking studies towards a Diploma at a University of Technology for one of the skills: Mobile Robotics, CNC Turning, Health and Social Care, Mechatronics and Fashion Technology.

“However, to apply for the skills [including] Mechatronics, Mobile Robotics, Aircraft Maintenance, and Water Technology, applicants must be 25 years old or younger in September 2024,” the department said in a statement.

Mamsi continues to climb the ladder of success!

Mamsi Mashinini Ndlalani, founder and CEO of Mamosa Educational Institute, which is the first English-medium school in Duduza, Ekurhuleni continuous to climb the ladder of success.

She is the recipient of Duduza Heroes Awards 2022 under the category of Community Development & Philanthropy.

These awards were first time by Community Witness Media to applaud and celebrate the hard work and dedication of many organizations, individuals and businesses that continue to bring it towards making the community a better place.

“I was born in Vrede in the Free State but I grew up in Charterston and Duduza. I graduated from the University of Fort Hare and currently serve as an EXCO member for Gauteng Chapter. I’m also an award winning author of the book titled, Revisit the Mirror.

The book was selected for Es’kia Mphahlele Community Library in Tshwane and also donated to the University of Fort Hare for the Nosicelo Mtebeni GBV project. It is now available on Amazon.

Mamsi has recently been selected to represent Ekurhuleni at the Africa Women Summit taking place in Cape Town between the 11 and 12 May 2023.

“I’m truly grateful and excited for this pportunity because I believe that my contribution will add value and have impact on the drive for sustainable development. The summit seeks to foster an environment were women have equal opportunities and platforms to participate, engage and influence policies at all levels without fear and intimidation. The challenge now is to raise funds for the trip because our school has not fully recovered due to the impact of Covid 19. People who are interested to donate can contact me”, she said. Mamsi is a Philantropist and an agent of change. She runs an enrichment program for elderly people and children.

“To women and the youth out there I want to say that you are the best thing that ever happened in this world, but you won’t know that until until such time that you tap into your inside and release your God given talents and find your purpose in life. To those who gave fallen along the road, it is just a learning experience and you can start again as a better person than before. Dreams are not for sale, don’t sell them for anything,” she said.
