LESEDI AERODROME TO CREATE JOBS! “At first I was a bit terrified of this long needle that was going to be embedded into my arm. But it happened so quickly, so easily. It was just a prick on my flesh and I really did not feel much pain.” These were the words from President Cyril Ramaphosa who was among the first to get the Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine, together with Health Minister Zweli Mkhize and healthcare workers in Khayelitsha on Wednesday, February 17. After taking the vaccine, the President addressed the media saying this was milestone for South Africa. “This day represents a real milestone for us as South Africans that finally the vaccines are here and they are being administered. I was rather pleased that there were five people who were vaccinated before me and they are health workers,” said Ramaphosa. More on vaccines inside...
Beware of crooked commuters! The Ekurhuleni Metro Police Department (EMPD) has received numerous calls of victims claiming that they were robbed while commuting in the taxi. According to the EMPD, the incidents happen while people are moving from place to place. A lady in her late 20s claimed that she took a taxi in Dinwiddie area, near the Reef shopping Mall on January 23. She
was on her way to Germiston when she fell victim to the crime. “As the white Toyota Quantum minibus taxi, with five male occupants including the driver was in motion, four passengers took out dangerous weapons (a knife & the firearm) and started assaulting her. She was robbed her jewelry, a cellphone and in the purse, she had R450 cash and a bank card. A banking App on her cellphone was
accessed and R1000 (as a daily limit), was immediately withdrawn/transferred by crooks, before she was dropped off injured and disoriented after two hours, on the side of the roadway in Primrose area, by the cemetery,” explained EMPD spokesperson Kobeli Mokheseng.
