BEFORE: Previously, Mapepeza Newspaper published the story of Kwanele Primary School’s situation.
AFTER: Gauteng Education department and OR Tambo International Airport donated a fully functional library to Kwanele Primary School in Katlehong, Ekurhuleni.
On Thursday March 3, the O.R Tambo International Airport donated a fully functional library with four new computers, stationery packs with solar powered lights, and a R400, 000 cheque to Kwanele Primary School in Katlehong.
Tambo International General Manager, Ms Bongiwe Pitye said: "No one can deny that education does open doors that no one can close - that is why we are here today. We were touched when we found out about your challenges," said Ms Pitye.
But that's not all, as part of this initiative; the learners will have extra tutoring and counselling sessions for those that require the service. The learners will also get free eye screening from SpecSavers South Africa. Addressing the school, the visibly touched OR
Speaking on behalf of the MEC Panyaza Lesufi, DDG Vuyani Mpofu said we must provide the type of Education that ensures all our learners reach and pass Grade 12. "As government alone, we cannot do it all, hence we are grateful for the support from OR Tambo."
