TOO MUCH LAND AND NO SKILLS!
Member and founder of the Tokolohong Communal Property Association, Willliam Phiri stands outside his home in Tokolohong agri-village outside Ratanda. He was recently intervied by Mapepeza Newspaper.
Written by N.J Sithebe Meet William Phiri from the Tokolohong Agri-village in the far-side of Ratanda. He is a well-known community leader who has founded the Tokolohong Communal Property Association. On Wednesday, December 30, he opened up to Mapepeza Newspaper about how he feels about his community. “The community was established through a social investment by Karan Beef for the workers. The agri-village is a portion of land made for us to utilize for our wellbeing. Our association was established to organize, build and manage our community,” he said. William says that ever since the establishment of the Karan Beef feedlot, which now stands as the biggest cattle feedlot in the southern-hemisphere, they have been given some hope at the time. “Our plans to build our own township, with basic services to benefit our people, were not done. We formed many societies, which some still exist today, but nobody has put the plans to work.”
