MIDVAAL OPENS NEW KGATELOPELE!

EXECUtIVE Mayor of Midvaal Local Municipality in sedibeng, Cllr Bongani Baloyi was proud in introducing the Kgatelopele initiative. The mayor encourages all young people in Midvaal to join in.

The closing date is set for Friday, July 22.

The programme aims to establish an employment creation and entrepreneurship development programme aimed at training, up-skilling and mentoring young people, to provide them with opportunities, employability and a chance to step forward!

ISIS NABBED! HAWKS ARREST ALLEGED TERROR SUSPECTS!

At least four individuals, aged between 20 and 24 years, suspected of working in terrorism related activities in Gauteng have been arrested in a joint operation by the Hawks, National Intervention Unit, Bomb squad and other law enforcement agencies.

The anti-terror raids took place in Newclare and Azaadville, Johannesburg.

The arrests follows protracted investigations by the Hawks and the state security of possible terror related activities in the Johannesburg area. Four suspects were identified after they attempted to travel to syria in 2015. They were however refused by an international airline to travel after they were informed of their intentions.

On saturday, July 9, members of the Hawks swooped on their locations where several items were seized for analysis.

Notice is hereby given to the rate payers and consumers in terms of section 13 of the Local Government: Municipal Systems Act 2000 that Lesedi Local Municipality has by council resolution approved 2016/2017 Medium-Term Revenue and Expenditure Framework (MTREF) for levying a rate on a property and service charges. The tariffs were approved by Council on 24 May 2016 – Council resolution number LC.MC –66 /05/2016. It is important to note that electricity tariffs are subject to the approval of NERSA. ANC MAYORAL CANDIDATE – CITY OF EKURHULENI MR. MZWANDILE MAsINA is an ANC member in good standing from Ward 51, Enkululekweni Branch and currently serving as the Regional Chairperson of the African National Congress (ANC) in Ekurhuleni.

He served as the ANC Ekurhuleni REC and RWC. At the age of 16, Masina became involved in youth active politics and became a full member of both the ANC and ANCYL after the unbanning.

He served in various capacities, from street, section to zone and branch leadership structures, before ascending to the Regional and Gauteng Provincial leadership of the ANCYL. Masina was active in student politics and went on to become the Chairperson of the Congress of south African students (COsAs) and later a member of the south African student's Congress (sAsCO).

The African National Congress (ANC) went on a door-to-door campaign in Ekurhuleni townships, canvassing for votes and introducing their candidate councillors for the upcoming Local Government Elections.

The party’s secretary-general Gwede Mantashe lead the comrades within the informal settlements in Duduza alongside the City’s mayoral candidate, the deputy minister of trade and Industry Mzwandile Masina. The Regional Executive Committee, with current Ekurhuleni executive mayor Mondli Gungubele joining the ANC parade.

With two consecutive clean audits with no findings under her administration Ekurhuleni’s Group Chief Finance Officer (GCFO) Ramasela Ganda certainly means business.

Her efforts are drawing attention and she was recently nominated as one of 17 finalists for the coveted Businesswoman of the Year Awards.

The annual Businesswomen’s Association of south Africa (BWAsA) celebrates and recognises astute leadership and contribution of south African women in various sectors of the economy. she is responsible for allocating funds that have changed the economic landscape of Ekurhuleni – a significant contributor to the country’s GDP. Ganda has been nominated in the government category where nominees must be considered “role models” within government and be able to show a commitment to mentorship and empowerment of women. These awards are the only recognition of its kind that focuses solely on Women in Business.

“Having a supportive leadership with a vision and the desire to create jobs has really made my job easy. When they presented the City’s vision I was already sold I looked at it and said ‘I really want to be a part of this metro’,” she said.

“It’s really all about the work you put in even if it means working overnight. The love for the city and the potential I have seen is what keeps me motivated and driven to make Ekurhuleni work. I wake up every day to get paid to do what I love, says Ganda” .

On the official launch date of the initiative on September 1, the 200 selected candidates will meet the Midvaal Mayor before they attend their training sessions.

Training in business and entrepreneurship, as well as additional skills like accounting and cleaning will be conducted. Candidates will also learn how to register their own cooperative and gain accreditation.

Enter the Business Plan Competition and you too can be a winner – calling all aspiring young entrepreneurs aged between 18 and 35.

Everybody is a winner - all participants will be invited to attend a fullday workshop to learn how to compile a business plan, and more.

The Competition is divided into three phases: First, you enter to win a seat at a "Creating an effective business plan" workshop in an area near you.

Forms can also be collected for free at the Gauteng Provincial Legislature. The GPL will place entry boxes and nomination forms in municipalities for people who cannot reach the Provincial Legislature.

3. Community Builder of the Year Award A woman who has shown courage and commitment in developing her community. She stops at nothing to empower her community to sustain itself, be it through business ventures or incomegenerating projects. This community builder is a mentor for community leaders and leads her community in various aspects.

4. Woman of Honour Award A female achiever in a traditionally maledominated industry and has contributed to job creation for women within her industry. She has broken the gender role stereotypes and is an inspiration to young women who wish to enter traditionally male-dominated industries.

5. Unsung Legend Award Deserving of this award is a woman who has been serving her community for 20 or more years, without any recognition or compensation. She never seeks fame or reward for her contributions but has served her community tirelessly and with passion.

6. The Guardian Award This category is for a woman in the Police or Military force, who holds the fort and has made sacrifices in the interest of her community.

7. Young Dignitary Award The category seeks either a primary or a high school pupil who is positively influencing her peers and those older. She is a determined, positive and dedicated youth who never tires in helping others in different ways.

8. Outstanding Creative Award This category one can nominate any influential woman who positively uses her creative work to showcase the best of and uplift the value of women in society. Examples include a motivational speaker, a poet, a fine artist, writer etc.

MEC MAZIBUKO LAUNCHES THE GAUTENG SPORTS AWARDS! LAUNCHING the 2016 edition of the awards, MEC Mazibuko outlined this year's plans and nomination processes.

"We will be hosting this year's sport Awards at silver star hotel in Mogale City just like last year and we are still in partnership with Mogale City Local Municipality.

The Awards will take place on 2nd October 2016 and as from this moment the nomination process is opened to every athlete and journalist who wants to win these prestigious awards.

MEC for sport, Arts, Culture and Recreation MEC Faith Mazibuko formally launched the 2016 Gauteng sports Awards on Friday, July 1, under the theme, "Gauteng the enabler of Excellence".

"This year we have added three new categories as follows Community sport and Recreation programme of the year .This will be awarded to a community based sport and/ or recreation programme that is implemented at a community level (grass roots level).

place in the capital city of Brazil, Rio de Janeiro as from 5 August - 21 August 2016" says MEC Mazibuko. Let's encourage them to win lots of medals especially the gold one's", she said.

MEC Mazibuko concuded with a request to the media houses around the province to help in identifying people fit to get the Gauteng Lifetime Achievement Award.

“Working closely with ward-based sports can help identify talent and to find sports facilities that need renovation or rebuilding.

More and more people will stop using drugs when they participate in sports and recreation,” she said.
