WHO WE ARE Manzano Day School is an independent non-profit elementary school serving pre-k through fifth grade in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Founded in 1938, Manzano Day School is dedicated to innovative child-centered education, excellence in teaching, and Joy in Learning®.

ABOUT T OUR SCHOOL
PHILOSOPHY Manzano Day School’s philosophy of Joy in Learning® is central to all we do. Within a warm and nurturing environment, Manzano Day School inspires children from pre-kindergarten through fifth grade to become the very best they can be. Every year, we enroll approximately 460 children from culturally, ethnically, and socio-economically diverse backgrounds.
ACCREDITATION AND MEMBERSHIP Manzano Day School is accredited by the Independent Schools Association of the Southwest (ISAS) and a member in good standing of the National Association of Independent Schools (NAIS).
STUDENTS Manzano Day School enrolls approximately 460 students in grades Prekindergarten through fifth grade from the Albuquerque Metro and surrounding areas. 51% of students enrolled at Manzano Day School identify as being a student of color.

A MESSAGE FROM OUR HEAD OF SCHOOL
As we reflect on the 2020-2021 school year, we remember a year full of twists and turns. Through all of the challenges, our community pulled together. Our faculty, staff, and administration worked endless hours for the many different educational models used throughout the year. Families and students also worked tirelessly to make the most of the learning opportunities. While we had to be flexible, resilient, and brave, we all continued to strive for excellence and redefine Joy in Learning®. Even in the most challenging times, the generosity of our community continued to shine brightly. Our Golf Tournament was an outstanding success raising over $70,000 for the Wings Scholarship Program. Annual Fund donations were also successful with 100% participation from our Board of Trustees and 100% participation from the employees at Manzano Day School. Parent participation was also excellent, with 95% of our parents joining in with donations. While we could not hold our bi-annual Gala, we still felt the joyous sense of community generosity and support throughout the year. Looking ahead, please save the date for our Gala on April 9, 2022. WINGS PROGRAM The Wings Program provides full scholarships for academically promising students to attend Manzano Day School. Granted to families with limited financial resources, these scholarships cover six years of tuition to ensure students will not be forced to leave for financial reasons. Having Wings Scholarship recipients as part of the Manzano Day School community benefits the recipients, the entire student body, and the broader Albuquerque community.

BIRTHDAY BOOK CLUB Birthday Books are a beloved tradition at Manzano Day School. Parents are able to purchase books in honor of their student(s). On their birthday, the student is able to celebrate by having their birthday book read aloud and being the first student to check out the book. After enjoying it at home, the book is returned to the library for the next reader to enjoy. This is a fun way to help keep our library stocked and refreshed with books every year.

20TH ANNUAL GOLF TOURNAMENT
This year’s 20th Annual Golf Tournament was a show of support like never before! From the excitement of having the opportunity to win $250,000 in the Great Manzano Golf Ball Drop to one golfer coming within inches of winning a car, the day was nothing short of entertaining. Concerns regarding Covid-19 and the continued pandemic were at the forefront of everyone's mind while planning this year’s event. However, between our diligent committee members and volunteers, the hardworking staff at Sandia Golf Club, and guidance from various professionals, we are proud and grateful to announce that this year’s tournament set a new record! Golfers arrived at staggered times this year, creating a safe and intimate setting with time to take in the beautiful vistas amplified by the mountains behind Sandia Golf Club. With the addition of Pro-packs, exciting raffle items, and opportunities to win multiple prizes, golfers came out swinging. “The Great Golf Ball Drop” created added excitement to this year’s event. With the help of Buzz Biernacki at Hot Air Balloonatics, 400 golf balls were dropped from the sky in the hopes that a contestant would win $250,000! While the event didn’t see a grand prize winner, several families walked away with some serious cash in their pockets. In a year filled with so many unknowns and limited public outings, Manzano Day School wants to thank presenting sponsor KOB-TV and the many other sponsors, donors, volunteers, and chairwoman Kayci Trevino, for helping raise over $73,000! Proceeds from this record-breaking year support The Wings Scholarship Fund at Manzano Day School. The Wings program provides full-tuition scholarships for children with limited economic resources. Through events like this, we can continue to give children, who otherwise would not have the financial resources, the opportunity to achieve future academic success by receiving an education at Manzano Day School.
