A Message from our Head of School

Dear Manzano Day School Supporters,

Thank you for the outpouring of support during the 2021-2022 school year. I am grateful for the return of our community events. Coming together in August to thank parent volunteers was a fantastic way to kick off the school year. Fall Festival made a joyous return providing us with an opportunity to reconnect and have fun.

Our Golf Tournament was an outstanding success raising over $70,000 for the Wings Scholarship Program. Annual Fund donations were also successful, with 100% participation from our Board of Trustees and 99% participation from the employees at Manzano Day School. Parent participation came in strong, with 75% of families contributing.

The Bi-Annual Gala, “There is No Place Like Home,” allowed us to truly celebrate this amazing school with our wonderful faculty and staff, amazing volunteers, dedicated Board of Trustees, and fantastic families. We were able to travel to the Land of OZ and raise over $240,000 for the General Endowment.

As our world emerges from the pandemic's difficulties, we still face challenges. I am grateful to the Manzano Day School community for continuing to stay strong in supporting education, Core Values, and opportunities for our students to grow and thrive.

Giving to Manzano Day School

Manzano Day School continues to set the bar for a vibrant and committed community of donors! Gifts to Manzano Day School have allowed the school to provide present and future support, ensuring the continuation of Joy in Learning ®. Annual Giving was highly demonstrated this year as donors supported many areas of the school’s financial goals. Our community of donors includes, but is not limited to, current and past families, grandparents, the board of trustees, faculty and staff, local businesses, and friends of the school Gifts to the Annual Fund provide classroom materials, professional development, upgrades to campus, and so much more than tuition and fees cannot cover alone

The Annual Fund plays a significant role in keeping tuition costs low while providing monetary support to help cover the gap between what tuition and fees cover versus the actual cost of educating our students and operating the school. Individual gifts and events allow the school to continue to offer and grow the Wings Scholarship and Financial Aid program.

Donor gifts and event-generated monies allow Manzano Day School to continue to provide a diverse, equitable, and inclusive community.

By giving to Wings, you are helping families access our community and making a lasting impact.

Manzano Day School's General Endowment continues to impact the current and future generations of students and families Gifts to the school's Endowment allow us to build a healthy reserve account that the school can draw down each year to help cover needed and significant expenses By supporting the Endowment, donors are helping to secure the present and future goals.

Our Golf Tournament continues to take flight! This year our sponsors and donors provided us with a new record in supporting the Wings Scholarship and Financial Aid Program. Sponsors, players, and donors joined in to play for a good cause and generated over $83,000 for the program!

This event could not have seen its success without the hard work of our Chairwoman, Kayci Trevino, as well as the many volunteers who make this event happen. Thanks to the generosity of all those involved, Manzano Day School is well on its way to creating a new fully funded scholarship for the next generation of families and students.

WINGS PROGRAM

Manzano Day School prides itself on having a diverse, inclusive, and equitable community. The Wings Scholarship and Financial Aid program is a pillar to opening our doors as often as possible to families who may not have the financial means to afford a Manzano Day School education. Through individual donors and monies raised through the Annual Golf Tournament, we have continued providing scholarships and financial aid.

Each scholarship is guaranteed for the entirety of a child's education while at Manzano Day School Upon graduating, the scholarship will return to a newly enrolled student and continue perpetually Thank you to the many donors and sponsors who have contributed to this beautiful cause Having Wings Scholarship recipients as part of the Manzano Day School community benefits the recipients, the entire student body, and the broader Albuquerque community.

Students enrolled in the Birthday Book program choose a brand new, never-checked-out book on or around their birthday. The book will have a commemorative nameplate placed inside the front cover and the student will be the first to check it out. When they return the book to the library, it will be circulated and enjoyed by other readers. After postponing this event due to COVID-19, our community was excited to journey home for the 2022 Gala. Our beautiful campus was transformed into Oz thanks to the vision of our Chairwomen, Gala committee, and many wonderful volunteers.

From a newly installed Yellow Brick Road to a cast of Dorothy and her land of Oz castmates, this Gala had it all. The event set a new record, raising over $260,000.

While "Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain" might be a famous line from the Wizard of Oz, Manzano Day School wants to recognize and thank the WOMEN behind the curtain of this year's gala.

With HEARTS full of passion for Manzano Day School, the COURAGE to do what hadn't been done before (a Gala on campus??!), and the BRAINS to envision, plan, and execute a flawless event, our Gala Committee produced an unforgettable, record setting and WONDERFUL evening.

Manzano Day School’s General Endowment provides the financial base needed to assure a fiscally healthy present and future for our school.

A robust endowment enables the school to grow its earnings each year, generating a higher drawback. The drawbacks earned each year provide the school with necessary financial resources that go directly back to the school.

The Endowment is vital, whether it be a new bus, playground, or the need to provide more to keep up Manzano Day School’s excellence in education.
