As we say goodbye to summer, we’re excited to welcome the arrival of our fall programs! Fall is a favorite season for many, with cooler temperatures and vibrant autumn colors making it the perfect time to enjoy our parks, programs, and community events.
This summer was a hit, featuring two Movies in the Park events and our 2nd annual Park-a-Palooza, which had the community rocking to three live bands, along with a variety of food trucks and vendors. One of my favorite programs, the Junior Giants, hit a home run this year, with over 500 kids registered and hundreds of dedicated volunteers making it all possible this program has truly stolen my heart Our Music on Maple event in September celebrated Hispanic Heritage Month and was our most attended yet! With an added car show, live cumbia and Latin music, a mariachi band, folkloric dancers, and plenty of food trucks and vendors, it was a community favorite. I can’t wait to do it all again next year!
As we move into October, we’re kicking off the fall season with our final Music on Maple of the year, the exciting new Día de Los Muertos celebration, and of course, the ever-popular Trunk or Treat, taking place downtown on Saturday, October 26th. Don’t forget to join or nominate a house for the annual Halloween House Decorating Contest for some spooky neighborhood fun!
As November and December bring cooler weather, we’re ready to spread holiday cheer! From the beloved Christmas at the Center and Tree Lighting Ceremony to our giving events like Angel Tree and Stuff the Bus, there’s something for everyone. Be sure to participate in our Christmas House Decorating and Coloring Contests, perfect for getting into the holiday spirit.
This season is also packed with new leisure classes whether your kids want to learn to cook or master the latest line dance moves, we’ve got something for everyone. We’re wrapping up 2024 with a full schedule, and we can’t wait to see you all there!

The Recreation and Parks commission is established to provide a communication link between the community and the City Council and staff. The commission specifically advises the City Council on subjects of recreation and facility master planning and development, needed parks and recreation facilities, goals and objectives for parks and recreation, and methods of community involvement.
I grew up in this community. Attended Lincoln Elementary and Manteca High School. Swam every summer at Lincoln Pool. Met my lovely wife, Eryn Bowers, here as well. We now have a kiddo who is even more active than we were. She plays softball, basketball and volleyball. We’ve attended six father-daughter dances. Our family loves the parks in the city and spend a great deal of time together enjoying the programs the City offers My appointment to the Manteca Recreation Commission means a great deal to me. It’s a chance to support the community programs that encourage our families, students, parents and residents to come together as a community. I believe simple and fun events throughout the community are a chance to establish meaningful relationships with our neighbors and ultimately build stronger communities together. I am honored to be part of the commission. My favorite event is by far the daddy-daughter and family dances at the senior center I commend the staff for putting these events together and I look forward to these each year. Not too far behind that are community events like the Food Truck Frenzy and Movie Nights!
The future of the Manteca Recreation & community Services department is very bright I believe the future of the department directly aligns with the facilities that are to be constructed within the City. I’d like to see the department revisit standards for our parks, their design elements, and how those items align with opportunities for programming in the future. The parks Master Plan is a great tool that could help grow the community’s opportunities as more parks are developed or improved. I would also like to see how the department could help improve the condition of the Big-League dreams complex and operations
I am serving Manteca Recreation and Parks Commission because of my love for youth sport development! I was interested in how I could help Manteca grow their recreational sports and programs to benefit all of our citizens of Manteca.
My favorite program that MRCSD offers is the Jr NBA basketball league and the Manteca Dolphins Swim Team. Both programs have grown with each year they have been offered and are both proven to be a well rounded and competitive program for all ages!
For the future of MRCSD I would love to see the aquatics side of things embrace a water polo development program. Water polo is one of the fastest growing sports in California! I would love to also see more partnerships from local club programs across all sports. With club partnerships and communication, we can better build the recreation youth development and create a pathway for young athletes to move up and continue to become more competitive as their talents improve. This in turn would greatly affect our local high school programs and their pathways into collegiate play and life skills.
Community recreation is very important to me. I have benefited from community programs all my life and I'm passionate about making sure these programs and more, are available to current and future generations. In addition to participating as a youth, I have served as a lifeguard, instructor, umpire, coach and more, I enjoy giving back. Professionally, I have a Bachelor of Science degree in Recreation Administration and certified Recreational Therapist. My experience includes teaching, coaching, and athletic director positions at Tracy High and St. Anthony's School in Manteca. There is no substitute for community recreation, parks, art, sports, cultural and other progressive programs I have always thought that a more transparent operating budget, increased community input and ideas, clear goals and objectives and a community partnership with private and civic organizations would greatly benefit the city of Manteca.
I grew up in Manteca and participated in many Manteca activities. Now my family accesses many of the offerings from Manteca Recreation and Parks. I am excited to support the Commission and see the growth and development of our programs. I LOVE the sports offered for the 3-5 year old kids. It teaches then how to contribute to a team and the high school coaches are excellent role models!
I am so impressed with the programming options. I would like to see Manteca continue to offer the plentiful options throughout the upcoming years.
