Dear Manteca Community, As we welcome the fall and winter seasons, I am pleased to present the latest edition of the Manteca Parks, Recreation & Transit Activity Guide. As one unified Department, we remain focused on enhancing coordination, expanding opportunities, and strengthening how we serve our community. Community connection remains at the heart of our efforts, and this season offers many opportunities to gather, celebrate, and create lasting memories together. We are excited to welcome back Rooted in Community: A Farm-to-Fork Experience for its second year. This special event brings our community together while raising funds for local nonprofit organizations, and we look forward to sharing another memorable evening with you. We are also thrilled to introduce Howl-o-ween: Support Paws for a Cause on October 17 at 4 p.m. Supporting the Manteca Animal Shelter, this free, family-friendly event will feature a puppy parade, dog trick contest, pet costume contest, and more. Residents and their four-legged family members are invited to join us for an afternoon of fun in support of animals in our community. The festivities will continue that evening with Spooky Skate Night at 6 p.m. With these events taking place back-to-back, families will have even more ways to celebrate the season, connect with neighbors, and enjoy all that Manteca has to offer. As we move into the holiday season, I am especially looking forward to Christmas at the Center—my favorite event of the year—taking place December 3 at the City Campus and Senior Center. This free community celebration has become a favorite among City employees, residents, and attendees of all ages. It is a wonderful opportunity to come together and experience the joy of the season, and you will not want to miss it! Manteca Transit is also moving forward with new routes to better connect residents with neighborhoods, parks, schools, shopping, and other important destinations throughout the city. These improvements reflect our ongoing commitment to making transportation more convenient, accessible, and responsive to the needs of our growing community. You may also see Parky and Recky throughout the season as they continue bringing a welcoming and playful presence to programs and events across the city. As always, our goal is to provide diverse, high-quality programs and experiences that serve all members of our community. Whether you are attending an event, enrolling in a program, enjoying one of our parks, or riding a Manteca Transit bus, we encourage you to take full advantage of the opportunities featured in this guide. There is truly something for everyone, and we look forward to seeing you in our parks, facilities, programs, transit buses, and community events throughout the fall and winter seasons.

Committees and Commissions Recreation and Parks Commission The Recreation and Parks commission is established to provide a communication link between the community and the City Council and staff. The commission specifically advises the City Council on subjects of recreation and facility master planning and development, needed parks and recreation facilities, goals and objectives for parks and recreation, and methods of community involvement. This commission meets bi-monthly. Meetings take place in the City of Manteca Council Chambers and can be attended by the public in person. See below for 2026 meeting dates. Note: meetings may be cancelled or rescheduled, please reach out to 209-456-8600 to verify.
Senior Advisory Committee The Senior Advisory Committee (SAC) consists of Manteca Senior Citizens aged 50 and above, offering guidance to both the City Council and the Recreation and Parks Commission on matters concerning senior citizens. SAC actively supports various events and programs at the Senior Center annually. Meetings take place on the second Monday of each month at 12:30p at the Manteca Senior Center and are open to the public.

Youth Advisory Committee Meetings begin at 6:00p at 1001 W. Center Street
This Commission is made-up of Manteca teens, 9th-12th grade, who advise the City Council and the Recreation and Parks Commission on youth and teen related programs and issues. YAC also sponsors numerous events and programs each year. Meetings are held once monthly at the Manteca Senior Center and are open to the public.
Recreation and Parks Commission Members:
Poet Laureate Tara Rico is Manteca’s first Poet Laureate. Stay tuned for information on events and programs. If you have any questions please contact us at 209-456-8600 or email recreation@manteca.gov . Film Festival Sunday, April 18th from 11a - 3p at the Manteca Senior Center. The City of Manteca is proud to support a unique film festival led by Poet Laureate Tara Rico, celebrating the fusion of poetry and film. This event showcases short films that bring powerful stories and spoken word to life through visual storytelling. It offers an engaging cultural experience that highlights creativity, diverse voices, and the arts in our community.

Friends Foundation The Friends of Manteca Parks and Recreation consists of Manteca community members. The foundations raises money for scholarship opportunities for the youth in Manteca. Meetings take place on the 4th Thursday of each month at 11:00a and are open to the public. Meetings are held at Uncle Franks Café inside the Golf Course clubhouse.

Now, Parky is excited to introduce a new friend who’s ready to join the adventure… Meet Recky the Raccoon — the newest member of the Parks & Recreation family! Curious, energetic, and always ready to explore, Recky is excited to jump into programs, visit events, and connect with the community. Whether he’s discovering new activities, cheering on participants, or popping up for photos, Recky brings a playful spirit and a love for fun that fits right in. Together, Parky and Recky are ready to bring even more excitement to your Parks & Recreation experience. You’ll start seeing Recky at upcoming programs, community events, sports games, and special celebrations throughout the year. Special Interest Dog Obedience Ages: Handler must be 12+ This course is for beginners from puppies to full-grown dogs. The pups need to have completed the series of Parvo and Distemper shots, which usually happens at three to four months of age. Woodward Park 710 E Woodward Ave. Woodward Park is Manteca's largest park sitting on 50 acres featuring a picnic structure, basketball courts, lighted multi-purpose fields and two playgrounds. Woodward's multi-purpose fields hosts multiple sporting events, cultural events, and the cities special events. Along the perimeter of the park is a designated walking trail, and exercise stations.
Manteca Dog Park 1054-1098 Eucalyptus St. The Manteca dog park is .65 acres and has a small dog and large dog side. Operation hours are dawn-dusk.
