Manteca’sRecreation&CommunityServicesDepartmentoffersawiderangeofdiverseandengagingprogramsandeventsthat amproudtohelpsupport.My favoriteprogramisJuniorGiants,aneight-weekbaseballleagueforK-8studentsfocusedonteachingbaseballfundamentalsaswellascriticallifeskillsin leadership,teamwork,confidence,andintegrity.CityofMantecaisenteringitsthirdyearaspartofthefreeprogrampaidforbySanFranciscoGiantsCommunity Fundthatservesnearly25,000youthsacrossNorthernCalifornia.Lastyear,mySon,Alex,and representedCityofMantecainanon-fieldpregameceremonyto helpkickofftheannualSanFranciscoGiantsCommunityFundGloveDrive.I’vehadtheprivilegeofcoachingourMinorsgroup(boysandgirlsages7-9)sinceCity ofMantecajoinedtheJuniorGiantsprogram-it’sbeenthehighlightofmysummeroverthesepastcoupleyears!

Aswelooktothefuture,myvisionisthatManteca’sRecreation&CommunityServicesDepartmentcontinuestobuilduponourstrongcatalogofYouthand Seniorprograms.AddingdepthtoourYouthSportsprogramswillrequireanexpandedpartnershipwithMUSDtoincreaseshareduseoftheirfacilitiestosupport growthofourathleticprogramstoservearapidlyincreasingyouthpopulation.AddingbreadthtoourSeniorprogramswithengagingandenrichingactivitieswill helpsolidifyCityofMantecaas‘TheFamilyCity’ asafeandwelcomingcommunitywhereyoucangrowupandhappilyretire:)

2)MyfavoriteprogramthatMRCSDoffersistheJrNBAbasketballleagueandtheMantecaDolphinsSwimTeam.Both programshavegrownwitheachyeartheyhavebeenofferedandarebothproventobeawellroundedandcompetitive programforallages!

3)ForthefutureofMRCSD wouldlovetoseetheaquaticssideofthingsembraceawaterpolodevelopmentprogram. WaterpoloisoneofthefastestgrowingsportsinCalifornia!Iwouldlovetoalsoseemorepartnershipsfromlocalclub programsacrossallsports.Withclubpartnershipsandcommunication, wecanbetterbuildtherecreationyouth developmentandcreateapathwayforyoungathletestomoveupandcontinuetobecomemorecompetitiveastheir talentsimprove.Thisinturnwouldgreatlyaffectourlocalhighschoolprogramsandtheirpathwaysintocollegiateplay andlifeskills.

Communityrecreationisveryimportanttome.Ihavebenefitedfrom communityprogramsallmylifeandI'mpassionateaboutmakingsuretheseprogramsandmore,areavailabletocurrentandfuturegenerations.In additiontoparticipatingasayouth, haveservedasalifeguard,instructor,umpire,coachandmore, enjoygivingback.Professionally, havea BachelorofSciencedegreeinRecreationAdministrationandcertifiedRecreationalTherapist.Myexperienceincludesteaching,coaching,and athleticdirectorpositionsatTracyHighandSt.Anthony'sSchoolinManteca.Thereisnosubstituteforcommunityrecreation,parks,art,sports, culturalandotherprogressiveprograms.
