THE MESSENGER
Term2 Week 1 Wednesday 22 April 2026
“ King Winter is now in the land. He reigns with cold and freezing hand. He makes Jack Frost touch nose and toe and brings us bright and shiny snow. “
We must have experienced the divine within ourselves, before we can discover it in our environment. - Rudolf Steiner Dear School Community, Welcome back to school and Term 3. I hope you and your children had a good break. This Term brings snow, skiing and the promise of warmer, longer days in Spring. While the snow has been somewhat limited, there is still enough for our Year 7 and 8 classes to have some fun this week and enjoy their 3 days on Mount Buller.
We are grateful for parent assistance with the ski program and thank those that have volunteered to assist with class trips to Mt Stirling this year. Our Year 9’s are again heading to the Bogong High Plains for Winter expedition while our Year 10 students prepare to depart to France and Timor-Leste.
During the holidays 37 of our students (primary and secondary school) attended Border Music Camp and from all reports had a great time meeting new friends and expanding their musical skills. Thanks to all the parents who supported their children in this endeavour.
IB students used some of their holiday break to continue their studies and were supported by staff to keep their academic muscles flexing. Year 12 students are embarking on their final semester, and we are looking forward to accompanying
and guiding them through the continued growth of their analytical and critical thinking skills. If you get the chance to ask them about their experience, please do. By this stage, Year 12’s are wrestling with ever more challenging course material and are also consolidating their plans for their next steps in life beyond school. It’s an exciting time for these wonderful young adults.
Along with preparing for the term ahead, our staff PD Day provided some time to focus on the purpose and intent of Steiner Education and appreciate just how well placed we are to prepare young people for a future that is difficult to predict. Relationships and connections with others and the wider world are the foundation of meaning and purpose. To develop these relationships and connections, our children need confidence, freedom, and creativity developed through a deep love and appreciation of life. This is fostered when they are
repeatedly challenged to think deeply, hold ideas lightly and develop the appropriate gratitude for what we have.
From Kinder through to Years 12 the curriculum, along the related camps, excursions and activities are designed to raise kind, aware and free-thinking individuals that will be able to create lives of meaning and purpose. They will, of course, learn all the usual academic skills here as they would in any school, but they will be better equipped to grasp the interrelated complexity of the world and use those skills to make a positive difference.
