Mansfield Museum is hosting their first ever ‘Fun Palaces’ event, in collaboration with Mansfield Palace Theatre and the Old Library. This free event will be full of fun activities for everyone from 0 to 101! Learn a new craft, take part in a play, make a mess with a science

experiment, meet some animals, hear live music and much more! This legendary soul group was created by the late General Johnson and started out life as The Showmen in the early 60s, before signing to Holland-Dozier-Holland’s Invictus label in 1970.

HS Presents bring you an evening’s entertainment which includes comedy, music, football, tears and so much more.

For over 100 years, Mansfield Operatic and Dramatic Society (Ops) have been entertaining local audiences. This concert will take you on a nostalgic journey from their performance of Showboat (1950) through to Oliver (2015).

The relationship delivered some of the best hits of the era, such as Give Me Just a Little More Time, You Got Me Dangling on a String, Everything’s Tuesday, Pay to the Piper, Working on a Building of Love, I’m On My Way to a Better Place and many more. A full live band will accompany this great act.

Paul Gascoigne is a former England international footballer and football manager, described by the National Football Museum as the most naturally gifted English midfielder of his generation. After retiring from professional football, Paul’s life became dominated by his mental and emotional problems. Coming off of the back of his documentary, Gascoigne, this is the fans’ chance to hear the full life story of Gazza in his own words. Limited availability.

The show is also an opportunity to showcase their forthcoming production, Annie, including the songs Hard Knock Life and Tomorrow. This musical and semi-autobiographical celebration of The Big O’s musical legacy is quite simply unmissable. Barry Steele takes you on this specially revamped musical journey in time, from the early Sun Years right through to the late 80s and the internationally acclaimed concert The Black and White Night. Mansfield and Bellamy Royal British Legion branch present this year’s festival of entertainment and nostalgia, featuring regular performers such as the Mansfield Male Voice Choir and the Blidworth Welfare Band. In addition, we welcome the Navy Cadets and the Notts Ukelele Band to the line-up.

Neil Sands and his brilliant West End cast are back with their 2016 Christmas production.

Extraordinary events begin in an ordinary town, bringing residents, including the local undertaker, to an uncomfortable crossroads.

This show is a truly spectacular mix of your favourite Christmas songs and carols. With over 40 stunning costume changes and lots of good old fashioned festive fun, the afternoon will warm your heart on the coldest winter’s day, taking you back to a time when Christmas really was the most wonderful time of the year.

The festival closes - as usual - with a Service of Remembrance led by local clergy and poppies will fall during the Act of Remembrance.

A love letter to the technicolor musicals of the 1940s, Barry Manilow’s Copacabana presents the story of Lola, as told through the eyes of Stephen, a present day aspiring songwriter whose imagination takes him back to a time when music and passion were always in fashion. Celebrating 40 years together in the music business, international recording artists Foster and Allen will be performing a string of hits including Bunch of Thyme, Maggie, After all These Years, I Will Love You all My Life and Old Flames.

With the help of a 60cm tall book and lots of humbugs, this very entertaining version of Charles Dickens’ classic tale takes the audience back to Victorian England using slapstick, participation and a couple of suitcases loaded full of ghosts!

They will also play some of their recent recordings, including Gold and Silver Days, A Hug and songs from their 40th anniversary celebration CD.

An old Dickensian narrator arrives to tell us the news, fresh from London town about the story he has heard of Scrooge. He opens his big book but starts turning into a grumpy Scrooge, a very goofy Marley and the ghosts of Christmas Past, Present and Future.

Foster and Allen’s easy-listening sound remains as fresh and exciting as ever.

A great introduction to Dickens with lots of chances for audience participation. Time: 2.00pm

BESPOKE PROJECTS – HE/FE COLLEGES AND SCHOOLS If you have a project idea that you would like to engage with Education @ The Palace, please contact the Education Manager.

Bringing a new challenge to our local playwrights, this project, in partnership with First Art, has grown momentum throughout the year. 10-15 playwrights are out and about gathering stories, inspired by what people do in their leisure time, (as opposed to work,) and throughout the process will write a short play inspired by the stories they have heard. Individuals and groups have been contributing to this project from Mansfield and throughout the First Art area. A variety of different themes are coming through, from pub quizzes to chatting to people in nail bars, from church groups to Mansfield Town F.C. supporters. All of the completed plays will be professionally produced and performed in venues throughout the area from Saturday 3 – Saturday 10 September 2016. Drama classes are held at Mansfield Palace Theatre during school term time and each class has an annual performance. Classes are available for 5-7yrs, 8-12yrs, 12-15yrs and 16-19yrs. Our prices are competitive, starting from £36.00 (half term) or £58.00 (full term). From opportunities of Music and Drama at Junior level to touring a play at Chapter 4, this is the place to be. Latecomers Latecomers may only be admitted into the Theatre during a suitable break in the performance and are requested to take the nearest seat available at the back of the Theatre. Photographic/Audio Equipment The use of recording equipment, video recorders, photography or mobile phones is not permitted in the Theatre. Babies in the Auditorium Babies up to one year can sit on your lap for free. For children one year and older, a seat must be purchased. If you wish to leave your baby in a carrier, you must purchase a ticket alongside you for this. We are relying on parents being responsible and to remove their child from the auditorium if he / she becomes upset so as not to spoil the enjoyment of others. Booster Cushions Customers may bring their own booster cushions or car seats with permission from the Front of House Manager. These must be removed in the event of an evacuation. Under 14s Under 14s must be accompanied by an adult to be permitted into the auditorium.
