one mann’s opinion December was a very busy and exciting month for me as I’ve attended many events, including our very own “Artificial Intelligence Unplugged” event in partnership with CBIZ. It was an amazing event—so amazing that CBIZ was so impressed with the Mann Publications team. We are planning future events with Rob McGillen, the guest speaker himself from CBIZ, to work with Google, Microsoft, Anthropic, OpenAI, etc.

Another great event I went to was that of Delivering Good, a tremendous charitable organization that I actually was a founding member of. The organization delivers clothing, food and more to those that need immediate help during catastrophes.

The rest of the month consisted of my travels between NYC and Palm Beach. I played in many ProAm golf tournaments, numerous ones at Trump International and more.

The magazine has picked up more traction, with more followers, views, readership. We’re getting more exclusive articles shared by our editor Penelope Herrera.

For our dynamite cover duo, I am proud to have Amy and Green grace in Mann About Town’s January issue. I’ve known Gary and his father for a very long time and they are wonderful people and philanthropic. I’ve known Amy for a few years but am still very impressed by all the very hard work that she does with their charity. I consider the Greens to be good and good people. Get to know about them in this magazine issue.

The balance of my life is just constant energy and excitement.

My wife and I get a lot of engaging meetings with new people and those already dear to us.

Artificial Intelligence Unplugged Delivers High-Value Insights for Business Leaders By Karen Giberson Mann Publications hosted a contentrich evening with Artificial Intelligence Unplugged, an event designed to bring clarity, practical expertise and fresh perspective to an industry eager to understand AI’s next evolution.

Sponsored by CBIZ, the program convened senior executives from fashion operations and New York’s real estate community.

The night opened with a lively cocktail reception and networking hour, followed by a casual buffet dinner, each moment filled with fast conversation and idea sharing. Jeff Mann, founder and publisher of Mann Publications, welcomed the group and set the tone for a forwardfocused discussion.

The centerpiece was an insightful presentation from Rob McGillen, vice president of business innovation at CBIZ, who leads the firm’s AI practice and is widely recognized for his expertise in AI governance, controls and ethical implementation. His background spans pioneering work with Google DeepMind, IBM Watson, OpenAI, Anthropic and Microsoft Azure AI.

McGillen began with an AI-generated video created using Synthesia—a striking demonstration of text-tovideo capabilities that underscored both the promise and limitations of today’s platforms. He followed with a fast overview of how AI is reshaping workflows, creativity and operational efficiency across sectors.

In fashion and consumer products, AI is accelerating design-to-market calendars, producing visual assets at scale, translating content for global audiences and optimizing inventory, assortments and planning. In real estate, AI is improving property marketing, leasing, due diligence reviews, building management and fraud detection, and powering new platforms like Elise.

McGillen also reminded attendees that rapid adoption brings heightened security exposure—an area where strong governance and controls are increasingly essential. He encouraged exploration of emerging tools, including Matterport, a 3D AI platform that generates immersive virtual walk-throughs.

He noted a transformational shift: 40% to 50% of consumers now use AI to search, discovering companies and products through contextual, conversational results rather than keyword-driven search engine optimization (SEO). That trend is projected to influence $750 billion in sales by 2026.

His message: AI doesn’t rely on keywords—it relies on context and intent. Brands, marketers and retailers must rethink traditional SEO strategies built for crawlers, not conversational intelligence.

McGillen closed with a look at the rise of agentic AI, widely expected to fuel the next era of artificial intelligence. Attendees left energized—and many likely began rethinking their 2025 playbooks on the way out the door.

American Friends of NATAL 20th Anniversary Gala Supporting Mental Health Crisis in Israel Attended by Real Estate Industry, Mental Health Professionals and Community Hosted by Michael Rapaport Over 500 supporters gathered at Pier 60 in NYC for the 20th Anniversary Gala of American Friends of NATAL (AFN), hosted by actor and advocate Michael Rapaport. The sold-out event brought together business leaders, philanthropists, clinicians and artists for a night of remembrance, resilience and unwavering commitment to Israel’s mental health crisis.

Held at a pivotal moment in Israel’s recovery from terror and war, the gala spotlighted NATAL—Israel’s Trauma and Resiliency Center and its comprehensive work supporting those affected by PTSD and trauma.

“This is a pivotal moment as Israel is now transitioning from wartime survival to the long and complex journey of psychological recovery. The trauma is the real fight that’s just getting started. The profound mental health toll of prolonged terror and war is a new crisis emerging as the nation exhales. We’re seeing a dramatic, terrifying shift: 44% of NATAL’s patients are now young adults, aged 20 to 30, up from 19% previously.

This highlights the immense toll on the young generation,” said Michael Rapaport during his opening remarks. Rapaport also helped to launch the Unfiltered Fund, a creative giving initiative to turn unfiltered language into therapy hours.

A Night of Stories, Art and Action The evening included remarks from Ambassador Ofir Akunis, Consul General of Israel in New York, who spoke about the importance of global support, resilience and standing with Israel during this unprecedented mental health crisis.

Maayan Aviv, CEO, American Friends of NATAL reflected on the evening, “This year feels different. The pain is deeper, the trauma more widespread, but so is the determination to heal. We’re seeing record numbers of young people in crisis, families shattered by war, and communities struggling to breathe again. NATAL meets them where they are—with expertise, compassion and care. And thanks to everyone in this room, we can continue to ensure that no one in Israel has to heal alone.”

Adding to the evening’s message of strength and solidarity, Pastor Chris Harris of Bright Star Church in Chicago, sang a stirring rendition of Israel’s national anthem “Hatikvah.” The evening also included a live art exhibit curated by the Unframed Art Collective that was a powerful visual centerpiece that invited guests into the emotional journey of trauma and healing.

The evening honored David Kostman, outgoing AFN board chair, for his 12 years of visionary leadership, presented by NATAL Founder Jude Yovel Recanati and Board Chair Ran Eliasaf. “As someone who grew up on Israeli air force bases and served in the Navy, I’ve seen how the invisible wounds of war can last a lifetime. NATAL’s mission to heal psychological trauma, often the hardest kind to see, is deeply personal to me and my family. Tonight marks my first Gala as chairman of American Friends of NATAL, and it comes at a time when Israel is facing a tidal wave of PTSD 20

Honoring the Alexanders: A Family’s Strength Amid Unimaginable Hardship One of the most powerful moments of the evening was the recognition of Yael and Adi Alexander, parents of Edan Alexander, who was held hostage by Hamas for 584 days before his release. In an extraordinary act of resilience, Edan recently made the decision to return to Israel and rejoin the IDF, the embodiment of strength, courage and the unbreakable Israeli spirit.

Ran Eliasaf, a friend of the Alexander family, introduced a surprise tribute video from Varda Ben Baruch, Edan’s grandmother, recorded in Israel specifically for the gala. Shared publicly for the first time, Varda’s heartfelt message brought the room to a standstill and reminded all in attendance that even in the darkest moments, there is light and that NATAL is there to help people find it again.

Spotlight: Live Podcast Conversation With a Trauma Survivor Turned Helper In a powerful segment hosted by Michael Rapaport, the gala featured a live podcast-style conversation titled "Helping the Helpers,” with Daniel Goldstein, a 33-year-old reservist, licensed social worker and trauma survivor. Goldstein, who has served 417 days since October 7th while coping with PTSD, now leads NATAL’s Peer Support Program, a communitydriven model that trains survivors to help others navigate trauma.

“Resilience isn’t a finish line—it’s a decision we make every day,” said Goldstein. “This program helps people find strength in each other, especially those who wouldn’t otherwise ask for help.”

Record-Breaking Support Reflects Growing Commitment to Mental Health Recovery This year’s Gala marked a historic milestone for American Friends of NATAL, with record-breaking individual ticket sales and an extraordinary show of corporate and community support. HOPE FOR DEPRESSION RESEARCH FOUNDATION AND LE BILBOQUET MARKET

KICK OFF THE SEASON WITH GOOD VIBES AND (ART BASEL WORTHY) CANAPÉS On December 3, 2025, Hope for Depression Research Foundation’s Junior Committee started the 2025-2026 season with aplomb, hosting an intimate, cocktail party at the new Le Bilboquet Market.

Audrey Gruss, founder and chair of the Hope for Depression Research Foundation (HDRF), headlined the evening, speaking to the important bond that HDRF and the Bilboquet family of brands have shared over many years. Philippe Delgrange, founder and owner of Le Bilboquet Market (and eight other establishments) also took a few minutes to express his gratitude for HDRF’s cutting edge research in helping to understand, diagnose and prevent mood disorders.

Legendary Chef François Payard, the Market’s culinary director, prepared an awe-inspiring assortment of savory and sweet canapés, including salmon tartare (served in a Japanese spoon with grey sea salt, red shiso and microgreen cilantro), tenderloin crostini (with black truffle vinaigrette, truffle shavings and tarragon), vitello tonnato quenelles, salmon rillettes in cones with black sesame and a magnificent multitude of mini tarts (chocolate-cherry, passion fruit meringue, raspberry lichee to name a few). Through a strange confluence of events, I was able to put together the first full-length Nutcracker performance in the United States during the shutdown.” At a time when stages were dark, the film documents the process of producing 17 immersive performances of “The Nutcracker inside the Wethersfield Estate.” “It was an amazing, beautiful accident,” said Wethersfield Director, Tara Shafer “Just by coincidence we came into the house and that’s when Troy stopped and said ‘Are we in the set of “The Nutcracker” right now?’” For five weeks, New York City Ballet (NYCB) dancers including Sara Mearns, Taylor Stanley, Mira Nadon, Ashley Laracey, Erica Pereira, Claire von Enck, Emma von Enck, Ashley Laracey, Gabriella Domini, Malorie Lundgren, Davide Riccardo, Mary Elizabeth Sell and Tyler Angle, quarantined and constantly tested, cohabitating in order to navigate legal loopholes that miraculously allowed them to work together. “It was a real labor of love.” said Director Anne Sundberg, “Almost nobody who invested in the production used their tickets, most gave them away. One of our underwriters said ‘I would like you to find people in the community who have gone the extra mile—I want you to find the phlebotomist at the hospital who has worked the hardest, I want you to find the teachers who are teaching on Zoom, I want you to find the people who are stocking the grocery store shelves, and I want you to invite their families to go see “The Nutcracker.”’ Most of the people who came to see this were those who were extremely hard hit in rural America.”

A Sensual, Stylish Six-Year Anniversary at Miami Art Week Miami Art Week reached a crescendo on December 5th, 2025, with the highly anticipated return of Creativo. This annual gathering has become the definitive heart and soul of the city's creative community. Celebrating its sixth anniversary, Creativo once again delivered a spectacular event, flawlessly executing its mission to bring together the worlds of art, music, fashion, technology and science in one electrifying venue.

Isabella not only walked the runway with incredible grace but also displayed her artwork, which radiates a powerful message of love and kindness.

Isabella says of the inspiration behind her work, “I can’t see the heart... but I can feel it.” The segment, which raised awareness for Isabella’s journey, was championed by Eddah Wanyoike, a contender for the title of Mrs. America, who used her platform to bring light to Isabella’s rare struggle.

This year's theme was simply “Jump on It”, a lavish nod to the 30th anniversary of Ginuwine’s iconic 1996 R&B hit. The song is celebrated for its smooth, sensual beat and enduring popularity. Recently featured in the movie “Magic Mike,” it provided the perfect blend of nostalgia, cultural relevance and rhythmic energy for the night.

The runway then transformed into a gallery of sartorial history with a feature from Janet Mandell, whose luxury boutique stores in Los Angeles, Chicago and New York specialize in ultra-high-end vintage clothing. 15 elegant women commanded the stage, draped in timeless pieces from houses like Cavalli and Chanel, with average vintage gowns valued at $20,000. It was a powerful display of fashion heritage and enduring luxury.

Held at a breathtaking waterfront home in Belle Meade, the energy was palpable, drawing approximately 750 guests from a highly exclusive list that saw over 12,000 RSVP requests. What makes Creativo truly special is the audience's commitment to the theme. Guests arrived in spectacular fashion, embracing the cowboy theme with flair, sporting elegant variations of cowboy hats, boots and belts. The dedication to creativity within the crowd is a testament to Creativo’s status as a must-attend Art Week fixture.

To perfectly cap the evening's theme, rising Miami R&B artist Evans took the stage. With impeccable swag, style and grace, Evans delivered a soulful, captivating rendition of Ginuwine’s “Pony.” He also melted the audience with smooth covers of Justin Timberlake’s "Until the End of Time" and Ne-Yo’s “Closer.” His powerful voice and stage presence left the crowd, especially the women, utterly spellbound.

Producer Sasha Bernier commented, "Creativo is where the collision of art, music, fashion, technology and science happens. It’s a true celebration of creatives and artists."

Guests enjoyed an array of delicious Mediterranean fare from Sufrat, including exquisite hummus and kebabs, bringing a delicious international flavor to the Miami night.

The musical journey was curated by two exceptional female DJs who kept the dance floor energized all night. Jessica Mah from LA is a multihyphenate. Not only is she a successful venture capitalist and tech founder, but a sensational DJ. Mah unleashed her passion for music with a powerful set of EDM and electronic beats, filling the beautiful Miami night with intense, high-energy sound. Zuleika Najar, who moved to Miami from Arizona just over a year ago, is known for her unique, dynamic style. Z expertly blended EDM remixes of classic 80s and 90s hits with current trends, infused her sound with her signature Latina flair.

Creativo also extended gratitude to its incredible partners who helped create the sensory-rich experience, including: Barcelo Rum, Pink Sands, Lalo Tequila, Neau Water, Strega, Askur Gin, Helix Vodka, SWAF beer and Voga Italia.

The highlight of the evening was a stunning doubleheader of fashion shows, marrying high-end style with heartfelt philanthropy.

The show featured a particularly moving moment with a young girl named Isabella, a heart defect survivor opening the runway show alongside Eddah Wanyoike, pageant queen. Each couture piece by Youngs is made to measure and the show was incredible with one stunning gown after the other coming down the runway.

MK: For those unfamiliar with Mita Residential, what defines your brand and what makes it distinct in Mexico’s luxury villa market?

AS: We offer Punta Mita’s most extensive collection of distinguished properties, with more than 120 residences representing the peninsula’s largest and most diverse portfolio. Our dedicated in-house team has spent two decades cultivating exclusive relationships and insider access throughout Mexico. AS: We are never stuffy. Luxury is casual, which is the first step toward relaxing. Some families want a full itinerary months in advance, and we create it. Others wake up and decide to go fishing that day, and we will have a boat and crew at our private dock within hours.

What standards or practices helped earn that distinction, and how will you continue to grow the brand?

MK: Your portfolio ranges from intimate villas to sprawling oceanfront estates. How do you match each guest or family to the perfect property?

AS: We encourage guests to call our rental agents, who have each worked at our properties in person—most often as a concierge. If a guest wants a sunset view, the agent can tell them which bedroom faces the sunset because they have been there. A SHARED SCOTTISH LEGACY

Barrie and Mackintosh wove their traditions together to offer a new expression of Scottish heritage. For over a century, Barrie has brought cashmere to its highest form, while Mackintosh has upheld the craft of hand-made bonded cotton for more than two.

One has been crafting cashmere in Hawick since 1903, the other perfecting waxed cotton since 1824. Their fall 2025 collaboration presents a concise wardrobe where two heritage skills converse without merging. “The challenge was creating visual bridges without forced fusion. Each Maison retains its identity through unexpected encounters,” explained Augustin Dol-Maillot, Barrie’s creative director.

In unison, they imagined a capsule collection where materials and craftsmanship dialogue with one another, blending artisanal precision with creative freedom. Coats, pea coats and knitwear reinterpret the founding codes of both houses, celebrating the beauty of fine finishing and the depth of texture.

Crafted entirely in Scotland, the collection shines a light on two rare skills, brought together by a shared devotion to authenticity and a desire to carry their heritage into the present with a modern voice.

Conceived by Augustin Dol-Maillot, the capsule reinterprets both houses’ fundamentals through pieces where volume, materials and construction harmonize. The Mack 1 long waxed-cotton Mackintosh coat subtly shifts expectations, replacing traditional lining with Barrie's specially developed

pleated wool-cashmere interior. “This pleating honors their savoir-faire it needed to withstand movement while keeping fluidity,”the designer noted.

Metal buttons stamped with St. Andrew's Cross quietly mark this alliance.

The concept inverts with Mack 2: a short pea coat in waxed cotton incorporating an exterior cashmere vest from Barrie's Timeless 5Needles line with generous pockets. “We transformed the typically hidden facing into a design feature. Its thermobondedhem—Mackintosh’s signature technique—perfectly complements Barrie’s ribbed edge,” the designer explained. Porcelain buttons bearing the same Scottish cross complete this dialogue.

Mack 3 concludes the trio—a sleeveless vest translating Barrie’s iconic proportions into Mackintosh's waxed cotton. Its recognizable pockets and sharp angles embody the partnership, while a discreet Scottish cross under the armhole recalls the project's shared origins.

In knitwear, contrasting tubular lines draw inspiration from Mackintosh’s waterproof sealing tapes. The double-faced cardigan conceals them internally like original coats, revealing only their shadow on the monochrome reverse. Barrie's signature seamless knit trousers complete the silhouette.

CONNOR WRIGHT AND THE

REORDERING OF THE IMAGE WORLD

By Avalon Ashley Bellos A cultural jolt enters the New York art landscape this season: Connor Wright has arrived, and his debut signals a decisive reordering of how images wield power. The effect is immediate. Viewers sense they are not encountering an emerging artist searching for form. They are witnessing a fully engaged practitioner operating in the middle of a personal and cultural revolution, using his canvases as instruments that fuse the tangible, the psychological and the historical into a single, incisive visual language.

“Alexa, Truth or Dare?”, curated by Jesse Bandler Firestone and on view December 11–January 2026, documents this turning point with unmistakable force. Wright builds his compositions from a wide-ranging archive: family photographs, bureaucratic documents, sports memorabilia, digital remnants, discarded slides and orphaned images detached from their original contexts. He does not employ these materials nostalgically or narratively. He treats them as forensic data. Each fragment carries evidence of how images sculpt identity, memory, bias, power and cultural inheritance.

His process elevates the ordinary into primary sources of a broader societal investigation.

The tangible nature of this archive becomes a structural engine for the work. Wright handles each object with the concentrated attention of someone excavating a buried truth. A faded photograph gains the weight of testimony. A bureaucratic form becomes an instrument of exposure. A thrift-store snapshot transforms into a site of psychological tension. His material decisions are never decorative or casual; they assert that the visual excess of contemporary life is not trivial noise but a coded system that shapes our interior worlds.

The intangible components of Wright’s practice generate the electricity that defines the exhibition. Before figures fully emerge, the canvases assert their presence through atmospheric gradations that behave like weather systems. Color swells, recedes and mutates with an emotional precision that constructs mood as infrastructure rather than backdrop. This chromatic architecture evokes the layered urgency of Mehretu and the improvisational charge of early aerosol abstraction, yet the result is neither derivative nor referential. Wright organizes intangible sensation into a kind of psychological climate, establishing conditions under which the figures must appear.

The bodies that rise from these atmospheres possess the gravity of contemporary myth. Elongated, sharpened and charged with narrative tension, they carry echoes of Pettibon’s incisiveness, Ojih Odutola’s interior mapping, and Golub’s brutal clarity. Wright’s figures refuse containment.

They hover between apparition and assertion, occupying a threshold where vulnerability, defiance and identity converge. The hand emerges as a recurring locus of power across the exhibition. Acrylic nails gleam like ceremonial extensions of agency, reframing gesture as declaration. The hand becomes a boundary line, a symbolic limb through which the figures claim authorship over their own presence. Art history grants the hand a privileged role in signaling devotion, labor, resistance and creation; Wright 50

extends this lineage into a distinctly contemporary and queer register.

The intellectual rigor of Wright’s work becomes especially visible in his orchestrated juxtapositions. An iPhone rendered like an archaeological artifact collapses the distance between future ruin and present reliance.

A breastfeeding figure recalls NASA’s Golden Record iconography, introducing an unlikely dialogue between cosmic aspiration and embodied reality. Two monumental women overshadow a caricatured president, merging Dix’s grotesque with the sharp conceptual humor of queer critique. These combinations are not sensational flourishes. They are visual propositions raising questions about power, memory, surveillance, intimacy and the erosion of hierarchy in the contemporary psyche.

Wright demonstrates an exceptional capacity to transform cultural chaos into legible structure. He refuses the artificial closure often imposed on contemporary painting. He does not varnish disorder into harmony or dilute complexity into softened meaning. He preserves contradiction while revealing the underlying logic that binds it. His canvases perform the work of mapping—psychologically, politically and historically. They chart what it means to navigate a world in which images dictate the emotional and intellectual conditions of daily life.

The scale of the work confirms the seriousness of the project. These paintings do not behave as interior décor or as discreet objects for passive appreciation. They function as immersive systems of thought. The monumental formats signal the magnitude of Wright’s inquiry and the urgency of his response to a culture drowning in images yet starving for coherence and truth.

Wright’s lineage is formidable. His practice engages the moral acuity of Goya, the structural brilliance of Marshall, the conceptual charge of Ligon, the global consciousness of Mehretu, and the diagnostic precision of Steyerl.

His divergence from these predecessors arises from the immediacy of his revolution. He operates with the intensity of an artist who recognizes that the visual world is not merely shifting around him; it is imploding. His work steps directly into this implosion and begins the necessary reconstruction.

The exhibition makes one fact unmistakable: Connor Wright is not offering a debut. He is offering a thesis. The work reads as both critique and prophecy, diagnosing the mechanics of modern seeing while proposing a new framework for understanding the images that govern us. The arrival of an artist with this level of clarity, intellectual depth and emotional authority rarely occurs quietly.

New York City moments shift in light, structure and movement. Michael Liman turns his attention to this month’s collection of photographs to reveal unexpected intimacy amid an urban flow.

Human gestures thread through spaces, people cross intersections, a cyclist passes through your line of sight, commuters gather in small clusters. Liman captures these images not as isolated snapshots but as parts of a larger urban choreography.

Together, the images portray a New York that pauses but never sleeps.

MICHAEL LIMAN is a New York based street photographer and visual storyteller whose work captures the layered, ever-evolving spirit of urban life. Liman, born in Brooklyn, New York, and raised on Long Island, works in both film and digital, in color, and black and white, exploring what he describes as “settings within settings” moments where people, architecture and time converge to reveal the quiet rhythms and hidden narratives of the city.

His first project, “The Sands of Summer,” documents the vibrant yet fleeting life of Atlantic Beach, New York, capturing the warmth, nostalgia and human rituals of the summer season. This early work laid the foundation for Liman’s enduring interest in place, memory and the passage of time.

His acclaimed book, “NYC Streets,” is a portrait of Manhattan as a living, breathing organism that is always changing yet timeless, filled with countless untold stories. From crowded intersections to forgotten corners, Liman’s photographs highlight the interplay between

With more than 45 years in the television and motion picture industry, Liman brings a cinematic sensibility to his still photography, combining narrative insight with technical precision. Beyond his work behind the camera, he is an avid collector of Leica cameras and lenses, as well as Hasselblad and Rolleiflex systems, drawing inspiration from the enduring craftsmanship and history of photographic design.

ary and Amy Green live at the intersection of legacy and reinvention; two worlds that, on the surface, could not be more different, yet together form a single, seamless identity for one of America’s most dynamic modern families. In New York City, the Greens move through the fast-paced, generational world of real estate, sports development and large-scale innovation. In Aspen, they find grounding: nature, community and a home shaped by warmth, beauty and intention. Between these universes, Amy and Gary have built an empire rooted in compassion, creativity and a shared belief in purposeful living.

“New York is the center of the universe,” Amy said, embracing the city where Gary’s family name is etched into the skyline. As the son of Stephen L. Green, the visionary who founded SL Green Realty and transformed Manhattan’s commercial real estate landscape, Gary grew up with a frontrow seat to extraordinary ambition. “We’ll always be part of this great city.

My children will always remember and respect the Green legacy,” reflected Amy. That legacy continues today not only through the family’s presence in New York, but through expanding ventures across real estate, sports and community-building. Among their most ambitious undertakings is a transformative $100 million real estate development project anchored by a state-of-the-art new professional soccer stadium set to reshape downtown Omaha.

Union Omaha, their United Soccer League (USL) team, has partnered with the city of Omaha to develop a new 6,500-seat open-air stadium in the emerging north downtown corridor. Designed to house both the men’s team and a future women’s professional team, the stadium is envisioned as the anchor of a 20-acre mixed-use district featuring housing, retail, dining, entertainment and greenspace. More than a sports venue, it is designed as a catalyst for a new urban ecosystem, one that attracts visitors, drives economic growth, and reimagines what a midsize American city can offer.

If approved, groundbreaking could begin in 2026, with an opening slated for 2028.

For Gary, who has long blended entrepreneurship with civic-minded investment, the project reflects a continuation of his family’s tradition of shaping communities through infrastructure. Amy is deeply embedded in the vision. “We’re also in the sports world, and you were so excited about the new stadium and our soccer team, and all that passion too,” she said to Gary, underscoring that their ventures move forward as true partnerships, not parallel tracks.

Yet the Greens’ influence extends well beyond real estate or sports. Their philanthropic and lifestyle initiatives span continents and causes, reflecting a family driven not simply to build, but to elevate.

Amy’s philanthropic work is deeply personal and unwavering. Through her organization, Green Vision, she brings together leading environmental, conservation and humanitarian forces to address the planet’s most urgent challenges. At the heart of this mission is the Footprints of Life gala, now expanding to Aspen.

Each gala focuses on four global causes Amy selects after months of research and dialogue with scientists, conservationists and indigenous leaders. “I really look at where we’re having the most issues,” she explained. “I want to know their intentions, and I want to know where the money’s going.” While her focus evolves annually, ocean restoration, climate change, endangered species and indigenous communities remain central. She works closely with global environmental leaders including Dr. Sylvia Earle, Jane Goodall, Sally Ranney and Prince William’s conservation organization, Tusk.

COVER FEATURE “These are people who are committed and dedicated,” Amy said. “But I also like to bring in newer organizations that have real passion and need support.” For Amy, philanthropy is not transactional, it is transformational.

“Giving is the key to living,” she said. “When you give, you receive so much more back. That’s become a way of life for us.”

That same sense of urgency fuels one of the Greens’ most socially impactful ventures: CounterSpike, a discreet tool that allows people to detect whether their drink has been drugged. Following its success in the UK, Amy and Gary are now leading its U.S. launch.

“When you see someone at a concert or club who can’t stand up, people assume they drank too much,” Gary said. “But there’s a good chance that person was spiked. We want to change how people think about that.”

CounterSpike is positioned not simply as a product, but as a cultural shift centered on awareness and education. “We’re not saying we’re the only product out there,” Gary added. “But we will be the best, the most accurate, and the most well-marketed. Most importantly, we’ll be the most educational.”

The couple is launching a series of fireside conversations, beginning in Aspen, featuring artists, DJs and cultural voices who will act as ambassadors.

“Nothing speaks to younger people like artists who have a real voice,” Amy said. “They can talk about how important it is to protect each other.”

While future phases may include expanded safety technology, the mission remains clear. “A great product isn’t enough,” Gary said. “We need to change the culture. We need education.”

Creativity is another defining thread in Amy’s world, and nowhere is it more evident than in the environments she creates. A natural-born designer, she is known for her exquisite attention to detail, particularly when it comes to entertaining. Her holiday table settings are layered, intimate and luxurious, blending rich textures, organic elements and warmth. In Aspen, the Greens’ home reflects that same philosophy: refined yet inviting, where seasonal décor and nature coexist effortlessly.

“I grew up in a very traditional Italian family, where holidays and special moments were deeply ingrained in our lives,” Amy said. “I love celebrating life with family and friends, and that joy has stayed with me.”

THE TRANSFORMATION OF BERIMBAU BRAZILIAN TABLE Berimbau Brazilian Table, inspired by the soulful one-string instrument central to Brazil’s capoeira tradition, is the creation of Rio-born restaurateur Mario de Matos, whose mission is to bring the spirit and flavors of Brazil to New York City.

More than a restaurant, Berimbau is Mario’s tribute to the rhythm of the samba, the energy of Brazil’s people, its iconic beaches, and the rich natural beauty that defines his homeland. His mission is simple yet powerful: to transport guests to Brazil, offering them the warmth, joy and culinary adventure of Brazil in every visit.

At the age of 24, Mario arrived in New York with a clear vision to succeed.

In 2009, he opened the first Berimbau Brazilian Kitchen on Carmine Street in the West Village, a lively and inviting space that introduced authentic Brazilian flavors and warm hospitality to the neighborhood.

In 2024, Mario expanded his vision with the opening of Berimbau Brazilian Table—36th Street Midtown. ART AND DESIGN The interior design sets the tone and draws from the rich tradition of Brazilian Midcentury Modernism, a style defined by its elegant fusion of local, organic materials and sculptural simplicity. Tropical hardwoods and woven wicker are used throughout, softened by sensuous curves and balanced with clean, minimalist lines. Custom-milled woodwork seamlessly complements terrazzo floors, which echo the iconic mosaic sidewalks of Ipanema. Above, amber and amethyst-hued linen-threaded lamp shades hang from rope-woven ceilings, casting a warm, ambient glow over forestgreen booths and dark wooden tables.

Berimbau’s interiors double as a gallery showcasing contemporary Brazilian artists. On the main floor, David Jose’s hand-painted wave murals layer vibrant colors to create a dynamic sense of motion and depth. At the restaurant’s entrance, a 3D installation by Justin Amrhein evokes the rolling hills of Brazil, addressing themes of environmentalism and the growing climate crisis through multi-dimensional mediums.

Also featured is the work of Waxamani Mehinako, an Indigenous artist from the Xingu territory in Mato Grosso, Brazil. His canvases immortalize traditional Mehinako tribal graphics, serving as powerful vessels for cultural preservation and celebration. Waxamani’s mission is clear—to honor and sustain the diverse richness of native Brazilian culture.

Berimbau features New York’s first caipirinha bar framed by two graceful

arches, evoking the silhouette of Rio de Janeiro’s famed Two Brothers Mountain. Adjacent stadium-style seating is ideal for people-watching during Brazilian Social Hour, an experience that creates community and connection, which is very much part of Brazilian culture.

Toward the back, a private dining room offers a secluded retreat, artfully hidden behind tall, frosted-glass and wood-paneled doors. Greeting guests at the entrance is Barbosa, a chic jewelry boutique by Brazilian designer Jacqueline Barbosa, showcasing exquisite pieces that reflect Brazil’s vibrant artistry.

Mario leads an all-star team, enlisting Gilson Val as general manager (former owner of Jeffrey Special Beer in Brazil), whose mission is to build a bridge between New York’s high standards of excellence and the warmth of Brazilian hospitality, creating a true cultural dialogue through service.

The menu is by Executive Chef Victor Vasconcelos, a São Paulo native with deep roots in Brazilian gastronomy. He began his career in 2001 under the mentorship of renowned Chef Laurent Suaudeau at Chef Suaudeau Escola da Arte Culinaria (School of Culinary Arts), Brazil’s first culinary art school. He coached Brazil’s top candidates for the Bocuse d’Or culinary competition in São Paulo, leading his team to achieve first place in Latin America and 15th globally in 2017. He then moved to California from Brazil to open a restaurant with restaurateur Bill Chait called Caboco, which closed after the pandemic. For Berimbau, he has designed a unique menu that elevates traditional Brazilian cuisine with a modern twist.

The Maze: Inside NYC’s First AlcoholFree Members Club Redefining How a New Generation Connects When The Maze opened its doors in Flatiron on October 29th, it didn’t just debut as New York City’s first alcohol-free members club —it signaled a shift already well underway in how people socialize, gather and define community.

Located at 43 West 24th Street, the 4,600-square-foot space blends the sophistication of a traditional private club with an ethos centered on intention and connection rather than cocktails. With a focus on seasonal, locally sourced ingredients, the culinary program anchors the experience—replacing the traditional bar with a restaurant-first model that encourages lingering, connecting and savoring.

But perhaps the most defining element is the programming. Members can expect a robust calendar of wellness activations, intimate networking events and Cornerstone Groups—small, curated peer circles that foster deeper relationships through ongoing connection. This emphasis on community reflects what The Maze is really tapping into: the rise of alcohol-free socializing, driven by Gen Z and younger millennials who are drinking far less than prior generations but craving meaningful, in-person experiences.

That generational shift is reflected in the club’s early growth. Membership demand surged ahead of opening, prompting The Maze to close its Founding Membership tier on November 30. Winter is just around the bend! Cold winter weather doesn’t just challenge our commute and raise our heating bills; it can also wreak havoc on our skin.

As temperatures plummet and humidity drops, our skin barrier weakens, natural oils drop, and that cozy indoor heat only makes things drier.

COLD-WEATHER SKINCARE TIPS TO COMBAT THE CHILL

But no need to let your skin feel winter’s wrath! As clinic director at Permanent Choice laser hair removal in Minnesota, I’ve seen firsthand how to maintain healthy, comfortable skin all season long. With a few smart skincare adjustments, you can prevent dryness, redness, chapping and irritation this winter.

SWITCH TO A RICHER MOISTURIZER

WHY WINTER WREAKS HAVOC ON SKIN Winter brings the perfect storm of skincare stressors. As humidity drops, cold outdoor air holds less moisture while indoor heating further depletes it, leaving skin dry and tight. Our skin’s protective barrier also takes a beating from the constant temperature shifts between chilly air and cozy interiors.

This leads to irritation, redness and inflammation. There is also reduced sebum (natural oil) production in the colder months, which can result in flakiness and vulnerability.

Winter’s effects are easy to spot, as eczema flare-ups, chapped lips, red cheeks, rough hands and cracked cuticles all signal a stressed skin barrier and a lack of moisture. Taking a proactive approach to skincare now is more important than ever.

Don’t let winter take a toll on your skin! Here are eight simple and effective ways to keep it calm, hydrated and comfortable through the cold months.

Lightweight lotions often aren’t enough during the colder months, so opt for a moisturizer with barrier-supporting ingredients like ceramides, hyaluronic acid and shea butter. Apply it twice daily (morning and evening), especially right after cleansing or showering while skin is still slightly damp.

Ceramides strengthen the skin barrier, hyaluronic acid draws in moisture, and shea butter locks it in, which ultimately helps your skin absorb and retain hydration in dry, cold conditions.

USE A HUMIDIFIER AT HOME Did you know that indoor heating can dry out the air to nearly desertlike levels? This is why a humidifier is a must for maintaining comfortable humidity (around 40–50% humidity is often recommended). Using a humidifier in your bedroom overnight can help prevent skin dehydration while you sleep. And as an added bonus, a humidifier can reduce nasal and respiratory dryness and even improve the efficiency of your heating system.

DON’T SKIP SUNSCREEN Sunscreen isn’t just for sunny beach days in the summer! Even on cloudy days, UV exposure can be significant, so it’s paramount to apply a broadspectrum—SPF 30 or higher—daily on exposed areas like your face, ears, neck and hands.

EXFOLIATE GENTLY AND LESS OFTEN While summer may call for stronger scrubs or acids, winter requires a gentler approach because the skin barrier is already stressed. So stick to mild enzyme-based exfoliants or low-strength lactic acid once a week at most. It is also important to avoid harsh physical scrubs or high-percentage acids that can damage the barrier and trigger redness or sensitivity. The goal is to remove dead skin cells gently so moisturizers can penetrate effectively without causing inflammation.

PROTECT YOUR LIPS AND HANDS Lips and hands are especially vulnerable in winter, as they are exposed to cold wind, dry indoor air and frequent washing. Protect them with a lanolin-based or occlusive balm on your lips, and gloves for your hands, and

reapply throughout the day after washing, going outside and before bed.

Even the best facial skincare won’t help if your hands and lips are neglected.

TAKE LUKEWARM (NOT HOT) SHOWERS Do you like taking steaming hot showers after a long day of skiing? Yes, hot water may feel comforting in cold weather, but it strips the skin of protective oils and weakens the barrier. Instead, use lukewarm water, keep showers short and moisturize immediately afterwards. It is ideal to moisturize within three minutes of patting your skin dry (the “three-minutes rule”), as it will help lock in remaining moisture and minimize barrier damage.

LAYER YOUR CLOTHING WISELY Skincare isn’t just about what you put on your skin! Your clothing matters too. Choose breathable yet insulating base layers like cotton or silk to reduce friction and irritation. Also, avoid rough fabrics like certain wools directly against the skin, as it is much better for your skin to layer these fabrics over a soft base. Minimizing contact with coarse materials in cold, windy conditions will help prevent irritation and flare-ups.

STAY HYDRATED AND EAT SKIN-FRIENDLY FOODS Topical care is essential, but what you put into your body also matters a lot. Staying hydrated is important, though it can’t replace the need for barrier-supporting skincare. Focus on a diet rich in omega-3s (like salmon, walnuts and flaxseed) and antioxidants from berries and leafy greens, which all support skin health and anti-inflammatory pathways. A well-nourished body will help your skin stay resilient and better withstand harsh winter conditions.

International rock star Yoshiki, who gave $500,000 to relief efforts following the wildfires in Los Angeles this year, has donated another $100,000 to the Red Cross to support victims of the devastating fires in Hong Kong. Over 1,900 households were affected and at least 151 were killed during the deadly blaze. The money, given through his “Yoshiki Foundation America,” is being used to provide emergency supplies, cash assistance and psychological help to the survivors. The singer, who is familiar to New Yorkers through his music and concerts, including at Carnegie Hall, has lived in Los Angeles for three decades. He told me, “When I see people suffering from such catastrophic disasters, I cannot stand by. I have performed many times in LA and Hong Kong and have felt the warmth of the people there. I pray that relief comes swiftly, and that the communities can begin to heal.”

Choreographer Jonah Bokaer honored Gala Dalí and her biographer, Board Member Michèle Gerber Klein, whose book “Surreal: The Extraordinary Life of Gala Dalí” made its debut April 1, 2025. Bokaer’s dance film featured Gala’s memory and her chronicler’s imagination pirouetting together through open meadows to music by Gil Scott Heron and Jamie XX, danced by Ghislaine Van Den Heuvel and Natasha Schmid.

During December 2025, EPIC Players, New York’s leading neuroinclusive theater company, presented the world premiere of “Bum Bum (or, this farce has Autism)”, a sharp-witted, genre-bending comedy by award-winning autistic playwright Dave Osmundsen, at the Here Arts Center in Manhattan.

Blending farce, satire and social critique, “Bum Bum” is a radical, hilarious takedown of how media and society package neurodivergence for mass consumption. EPIC’s Neurodivergent and Autistic cast brings authenticity and bite to this bold new work, continuing the company’s mission to challenge stereotypes, increase representation and center disabled artists as creative leaders. In a perfectly meta turn, EPIC holds a mirror to the industry and joyfully dismantles the very tropes they’ve spent years replacing.

Farce meets authenticity in this wild, subversive and deeply personal satire of performance, representation and what society really wants from its “inspirational” neurodivergent and disabled artists.

“At EPIC, we’re passionate about telling stories that center autistic and neurodivergent voices—not as symbols or side characters, but as complex, funny and deeply human. ‘Bum Bum’ flips the script on how autism is represented in theater: it’s bold, subversive and unapologetically authentic,” said Aubrie Therrien, executive artistic director, EPIC Players. “We’re thrilled to produce Dave’s work in collaboration with The Here Arts Center, and to challenge tired stereotypes that infantilize autistic adults—proving that neurodivergent stories belong squarely at the center of the stage.”

Set during a chaotic live telethon benefiting: “Singing and Hearing Autistic Greatness” (aka SAHAG or SHAG), the play follows three autistic performers as they’re pressured to deliver sanitized, “palatable” routines for a mainstream audience. Lisa performs a little ballet, Sean does a familyfriendly comedy routine, and Jason performs with his trusty ventriloquist dummy, Gil McGillicuddy. But the three can only take condescending press reps, problematic pop stars and the widescale infantilization of autistic people for so long. When they band together to take over the broadcast and perform their less “appropriate” routines, hijinks (naturally) ensue.

ABOUT DAVE OSMUNDSEN (PLAYWRIGHT) Dave Osmundsen is an autistic playwright and dramaturg whose work has been seen and developed at KCACTF Region 8, the Kennedy Center/ NNPN MFA Playwrights Workshop, the Great Plains Theatre Conference, Purple Crayon Players, Florida Studio Theatre (where he once interned!), Sewanee Writers Conference, the William Inge Theatre Festival, Premiere Stages, the Valdez Theatre Conference and more. He was one of two recipients of the Blank Theatre and Ucross Foundation’s inaugural Future of Playwriting Prize. His play “Light Switch” received its world premiere with Spectrum Theatre Ensemble in April 2022, and received a Jeff Awardwinning Chicago premiere with Open Space Arts. “Light Switch” was also the 2021 Distinguished Achievement recipient of the Jean Kennedy Smith Playwriting Award, an Honorable Mention finalist for BAPF 2021, longlisted for the Theatre503 International Playwriting Award, a finalist for the 2020 Carlo Annoni Playwriting Prize and a semi-finalist for the 2020 National Playwrights Conference. His play “More of a Heart” received its world premiere at BlueBarn Theatre in 2024. Q&A WITH AUBRIE THERRIEN, EXECUTIVE ARTISTIC DIRECTOR, EPIC PLAYERS AND DAVE OSMUNDSEN, PLAYWRIGHT

Productions usually happen after readings and workshops are held. With “Bum Bum,” there was no workshop or reading—it went straight into production!

A lot of this entailed fielding notes from the director and artistic directors, adjusting moments to accommodate staging, rewriting jokes so they would hit harder, assuring the actors that they are doing a GREAT job incorporating notes just minutes after being given them… But it was really a rush. I feel like comedy writing has VASTLY expanded my view of what I can accomplish as a playwright, and I have grown so much as a result.

TO AUBRIE: How was the cast chosen/how did they fit their roles?

Aubrie: EPIC has an inclusive casting process and over the course of a week, auditioned performers live and virtually for these roles. Artists were given the opportunity to read the script beforehand and play with their characters. EPIC casts as authentically and inclusively as possible, so our artists can bring—to this piece in particular—their lived experiences to the role.

Do you have anything in mind for your next working project?

Aubrie: EPIC is doing “Rent” at Art/NY Mezzanine Theatre in the spring of 2026.

TO DAVE: What made you think this play to life?

Dave: I was seeing a bloody awful production of a well-known farce, and as my mind wandered, I began thinking about the kind of farce I wanted to see: A farce that involved burlesque, pop stars, ableism, door slams, a high-stakes telethon…How could multiple presentations of Autism live in the heightened world of farce…What would it look like if the Autistic characters weren’t the joke…That was a very productive brainstorm!

I didn’t write the play in earnest until a year and a half later (another play, “More of a Heart,” got an exciting opportunity that kept me busy).

I had recently lost my job, and my dad was dying. I needed a pick-me-up.

So I channeled all my grief and angst into being funny and biting and sarcastic. 10 out of 10, recommend. (Although my dad got a bit tired of me workshopping some of the more “blue” jokes…) I banged out the first draft of the play in two weeks. Revision is ongoing.

What were difficulties during the process of this play?

Dave: The biggest difficulty I had was that this was the first time I was developing and rewriting a play for production. As a relatively new playwright, I’ve only really developed plays for readings and workshops.

What made you want to be a playwright/did you have any of your own struggles in becoming one?

Dave: I went to college wanting to be an actor, but quickly realized that wasn’t the bath I wanted to take (no typo). I was lucky enough to be in a BA program for theatre, which meant I could study as many disciplines of theatre as I wanted to. I eventually fell into dramaturgy, so I read a lot of plays, specifically contemporary plays, to catch myself up on dramatic literature. I began writing plays because I saw a terrible reading of a student-written work and thought, “I could write a better play than that!” So I wrote a play, mounted a reading of it, prepared for campus to realize my genius, and… it bombed. It gave me flop sweat, that’s how hot it bombed. But I realized I wanted to improve in this particular craft. So I began writing more plays, staging readings of them, submitting them, etc.

I had been writing plays for five years before I wrote my first autismcentered play, “Light Switch,” in graduate school. I wanted to write a piece that reflected my experiences as a gay autistic man. I didn’t think the Autism would play such a large role in its reception. My parents suggested I write about my autism, and I said “Who the blankity-blank would want to read that!?” I was terrified to share this autistic part of myself—I was terrified by and of it because I still did not fully understand it. I find myself facing an industry that is just waking up to the concept of disabilitycentered and generated work. I still get told my plays are challenging to cast due to theaters “not knowing” any autistic actors. But we have companies like EPIC whom I’ve used as a valuable resource for years before working with them as a playwright. I’m thrilled they are the first company to have produced it.

What did you want the audience to take away from the play?

Dave: It’s not how you bum bum, or who you bum bum with, that matters.

What matters is that you’ve bum bummed at all.

Do you have anything in mind for your next working project?

Dave: My play “Light Switch” will be receiving its Florida debut at Island City Stage in Fort Lauderdale in May 2026.

While on a tour across Europe, Samantha reconnected with an old friend, igniting a spark that followed her across the Atlantic and straight into the studio.

“I was consumed by the depth of that feeling,” she shared. “It was rare, and I wanted more of it for both myself and the world.” That emotional intensity became the creative fuel behind “Fall Deep,” which she crafted ahead of a series of Burning Man DJ sets as both a personal release and an ode to the radical openness and connection of the playa.

Sonically, the track is a slow burn that pulls listeners into its orbit. Rolling grooves and subtle melodic tension create a steady sense of momentum, while Samantha’s voice—in her debut as a vocalist and lyricist—adds a new layer of vulnerability and power to her artistry. Her hypnotic delivery floats effortlessly above the production, giving the record an emotional gravity that feels deeply human despite its club-ready pulse.
