IRCTC Partnering Fuels Growth of e-catering startups

With onset of Digital India campaign , the E-catering services have also shown a transformation.

With just a phone call, or online booking, passengers are now able to place an order for a meal that would be served right at their seats inside the train.

Started by IRCTC with 28 non-pantry car trains.

The service was later extended to 1,516 trains.

Now IRCTC partnered with some of the major food vendors such as KFC, Mc Donald ,etc.

Indian Railway also partnered with Self Help group, women based startup for food vending.

“Food prices are to be market-driven but we are focused that the food items supplied are hygienically packaged in eco-friendly, biodegradable take-away packets and usage of plastic for packaging must be minimal if not totally eliminated. In fact, we will conduct regular checks of stations to ensure that meals items are provided to the passengers�

Website: Customer need to enter their PNR details/train number and get started to order food in trains.

They will have an option to pre-pay or opt for COD fir their orders.
