It llooks like there’s loads of stuff on offer for the youth of today and so many young talented people getting involved in worthwhile activities. Yet, all we seem to hear about is ASBOs and disorder. Check out the projects around the City and show them your support. Help a young spotty child accross the road. Pearls of GANGS OF NEW THOUGHT
wisdom
I am of the assumption that you people are waiting for some signal, or worse than that, waiting for the approval of others to garner permission to think for yourselves. I’m not at all sure when harbouring any aspiration alluring to creative thinking became taboo. Maybe taboo isn’t the correct term, maybe I just don’t want to admit to myself that we are a city of scared spineless bovine waiting for a sign from the greater good. Christ, the Inca’s were doing that tens of thousands of years ago but at least they left a mind boggling array of statues and temples to bamboozle a conspiracy hungry world in waiting. What are you going to leave behind? Pub plots and seed, that’s what, but the saddest factor by far relates to the few shards of light that dare to take on the smog. Initially noble only to wither like fruit left in the morning sun as you realise the truth behind their ruse. They surround themselves with henchmen, back door merchants and wielders of sarcastic diatribe everywhere they choose to slither. Each to a man they are allowed input , allowed to criticise each others visions, crippling any integral thought and essential point anyone may of ever had. Ideas of promise become compromised, anadine and ultimately pointless. A camel my friends is nothing more than a horse designed by committee. -Dave “Pearl” Harper
my HERE’S WHAT WE’RE LISTENING TO AT MANIFESTO THIS MONTH!!
Death In Blood Hell Within a Hell
The Golden Virgins I Am a Camera
Bromheads Jacket On The Brain
This one’s back on the playlist as the lads get ready for the Romeo Must Die gig this month. Quality cocktail of thrash and death metal, enough to make you bleed and put you in touch with the other side.
Everyone’s favourite TGV song which was released a few years back but always has us singing along in unison every time we hear it as The bunker website loads on our screens. Oh, how life isn’t as fun as in the summer of 2004. Click, click, click, click click and all that.
The new album has been on repeat for a while now as we reminisce about the carry on last time they played Manor Quay. Full of hooks and catchy riffs, the Jacket have knocked out another excellent album.
Our Imaginary friends Our Imaginary End Nice little tiddler of an instrumental track that tickles while you’re trying to shake off last nights hangover. Haunting keys and one of them little blowy keyboard things which makes you think about messing around with instruments as a kid. It’s only short and leaves you desperado for more.
City In Flames Lost Lovely jubbly love song getting a bit of airplay in Manifesto HQ this month. A bit of a rollercoaster ride in a bottle as we decide which track we’re gonna download to our phone at their gig this month. Just cos we can.
Go to www.sunderlandmusic.com and listen to them and many more on our very own radio station.

Band of Yeasteryear ------------------------------------------------------------
The Golden Virgins
Words: Daniel Clifford
The 31st May 2004 saw Sunderland heroes The Golden Virgins release the album “Songs of Praise” on Rex Records/XL Recordings. The album was not only their debut long-player, but sadly the only one they would release before (even more sadly) splitting in 2006 due to “lethargy, alcoholism and a deep-seated hatred of the music industry”. The record was greeted with critical acclaim but it would seem that the public were somewhat indifferent to the band’s lovelorn pop opus and the record failed to chart. This, of course, was a great shame as the album featured what I described at the time as the “best song ever” in an email to the band, ‘I am a camera’. Aside from that electro-pop rabble-rouser, “Songs of Praise” also takes in acoustic laments (‘Shadows of your love’), slide guitar freakouts (‘Light in Her Window’) and drunken jazz-y rabblings (‘Sleep with me tonight’). Quite simply, there isn’t a poor song on the record. As the band put it on the promo postcard, it’s “a timeless work of art”. Even those lads and lasses at Vue Weekly (I have no idea what ‘Vue Weekly’ is!) said in their review “one of most significant efforts to come out of the U.K. in a while”. If you don’t have it already, I’m sure there are a few copies in Hot Rats or HMV or somewhere that you could give a good home to. Frontman Lucas Renney has just finished recording his debut solo album in Wales with Midlake. Drummer NeIl Basset continues to run Room 3 Recording studio at The Bunker and play drums for local punksters The Former Cell Mates.

MURDER SHE WROTE Any regular metal night held in the city will inevitably be, fairly or unfairly, held in comparison to the now defunct ‘Blastbeats’. Ever since Lennox decided to call it a day on Blastbeats, Sunderland just seems to have been waiting for someone to take over the baton. Unsuprisingly a number of promotions have since tried to push themselves to the forefront of the Sunderland metal scene, often enjoying limited success. Manslaughter Records, however, had seemed more than happy to sit back and go about their business quietly, slowly growing a reputation, not only in Sunderland, but also in the bustling Newcastle metal scene. Then on 22nd March it finally happened. The Manslaughter boys celebrated their first year in business, and The Voodoo Room didn’t know what hit it. With doormen based at the stairs with a one in/one out policy due to probably dangerous overcrowding, and an estimated crowd of 250 plus, Manslaughter Records had finally landed...... And they’re threatening to do it all over again! Now, pretty much established at the forefront of the Sunderland metal scene, the boys at Manslaughter Records have lined up an absolute corker, which can only build upon their impressive reputation. This year Halloween, will see The Voodoo Room play host to one of the most exciting lineups i care to remember, featuring no more than 5 of the north-easts finest unsigned bands, as well as one of the most exciting new metal bands in the country ‘Romeo Must Die’. Consisting of ex members of underground metal legends ‘Stampin Ground’, Romeo Must Die bring a whole new, different metal onslaught, with a rapidly growing reputation and press coverage far and wide. With this exciting new band, added to an already exciting list of Sunderlands own Uncerta, Death in Blood, and Five ways of Asphyxiation, aswell as Newcastles Corrosive Kind, and Waking Theo of Leeds who actually came as a reccomendation from Stampin Ground’s Scott Atkins, Manslaughter Records are giving all those people that said the Sunderland metal scene was dead something to seriously think about. Romeo Must Die head to Sunderland on the back of the success of their E.P release ‘Defined by Enemies’, as well as numerous European & UK tours with the likes of Textures, Sanctity, Sylosis, and Evil, and with 11 years experience tearing up stages with the likes of Chimaira, Arch Enemy, Anthrax, and Hatebreed as Stampin Ground, Romeo Must Die more than deliver on their promise of uncompromising technical British metal. You can catch Romeo Must Die playing the Manslaughter Records promoted ‘Halloween Havoc 08’ at The Voodoo Room on Friday 31st October, with support from Uncerta, Death in Blood, Five Ways of Asphyxiation, Waking Theo, and Corrosive Kind.

e l p o e p y p p a h y Shine The Music Collective, based at the Shiney Row Campus of City of Sunderland College is an initiative which provides full-time students of the College with free rehearsal facilities, studio time and advice from industry professionals. This year’s collective comprises of eight local bands (although those still wishing to join are more than welcome) all at different stages of development; the only stipulation is that each group must perform original compositions. Each group has access to qualified staff, a rehearsal room equipped with a full PA, guitar and bass amps; drum kits and keyboards. When the musicians and staff feel that their songs are ready, they then move into the studio to record a CD. After Christmas the collective will invite guest speakers from across the industry to give talks ranging from making a living in the music business to gig promotion and merchandising. These sessions are free and open to any full-time students, regardless of whether they actually play an instrument or not, and will hopefully cumulate in the formation of an independent record label. Although the College plans to support the label, it will be entirely student run and will release and promote material recorded by members of the Collective. The College’s Shiney Row Centre runs full-time music courses from Level 1 (Introductory Diplomas) to Level 4 (Foundation Degrees) For more info on the Collective, call 0191 511 6060
Monumental Music, in association with Arts Council England and the Sunderland Music Forum, announces the creation of a new youth music workshop network in Sunderland. Beginning in October, young people will now be given free access to professional rehearsal space and instruments. Tuition will also be provided on song writing, performance, music production and other aspects of the music industry. At the end of the course the participants will get the chance to record their songs, and the practice and recording will culminate in a live showcase at a local venue. The activities will take place at The Bunker, on Stockton Road and are ran in conjunction with long running music workshops at Hendon Young People’s project. The project in Hendon has recently been allocated funding for the next three years and will be working together to provide progression for young people interested in music. While HYPP has always worked with young people, making their first steps in a musical career, ‘The Sunday Club’ workshops at The Bunker will also work with full bands and young musicians who could be at a more advanced stage. “We believe that there is currently a lack of music guidance and advice available to all young people in Sunderland, which leads to local talent not fulfilling it’s potential.” said Monumental Music youth worker Stephen Gilbert. “We will provide the next opportunity for young people to gain valuable knowledge from experienced music industry professionals and improve their prospects of a career in the music industry. ” The club will last for four hours on a Sunday and will cost a nominal £1 per person entry fee. The aim of the Sunday club is to give young people not only a way of improving their musical abilities, but also to improve their social skills, confidence and self-esteem. Participants will meet new friends, whilst being encouraged to become more mature and active members of the local community. For more info on the Sunday Club or how to join, please call Stephen or Kenny on 0191 567177 or email info@monumentalmusic.org.uk

When the word ‘burlesque’ crops up in conversation, the majority of people do have the tendency to think on Dita Von Teese frolicking gorgeously in a martini-glass or the red-haired beauty Nicole Kidman acting the strumpet dans le Moulin Rouge. This limited knowledge is unfortunate as iconic burlesque performers such as Gypsy Rose Lee and Mae West with their traditional approach to strip-tease are totally overlooked. The word ‘burlesque’ itself means ‘to make a mockery of, to satirise’ and this comedic and time-honoured element is embraced by a newly formed, Sunderland based burlesque troupe. Spawned by an accidental meeting of a trio of burlesque enthusiasts and further fuelled by cups of Lavazzo coffee in a snug corner of the Lambton Worm pub, The Coquette Collective was born. Dissatisfied at the lack of burlesque antics the city of Sunderland had to offer, the three founders embarked on finding other like-minded individuals to shake their shimmy and spread the art of burlesque in the North East. The first monthly Coquette Collective burlesque ball came to fruition on Monday 1st September upstairs in The Borough, Vine Place and was an overwhelming success. The clientele of the evening took note of the doily style poster with its coy invite of ‘Burlesque, Yes?’ and the dress-to-impress demand; a sea of smart bowlers and corsetry viewed the strip tease routines of the flirtatious Coquettes. The evening’s entertainment presented by Gretchen Tice, Bette Buttons and JoJo LaRouge included a drunken 1920s flapper dousing herself with glittery champagne, a buxom washer-woman scrubbing her ever-matching smalls, and an unlucky-in-love siren demanding Jack to hit the road. Patty Strumpet and The Duke excelled in their hosting roles by riling up the spectators with the aid of Kitty Bandersnatch who collected the recently harvested clothing. The rockabilly disco induced a fantastic upbeat atmosphere and the general consensus of The Coquette Collective’s maiden voyage was ‘Burlesque, Yes!’ (photographs courtesy of Katie Foy & Neil Watson) The next burlesque ball will be held on Monday 6th October upstairs in The Borough, Vine Place. Doors open at 7.00pm till late. Advance tickets are £3 and are available from The Borough and Dr Funkenstein’s Fancy Dress and Retro, Derwent Street. £4 on the door. Monday 3rd November will be our Halloween themed Gorelesque Ball; people clad in fancy dress will gain entry on the door for £3. www.myspace.com/thecoquettecollective

Time of the month? If you don’t know what the Sunderland Music Forum (SMF) is by now, where have you been?! But I’m all for inclusivity and demystification, so I’ll indulge your ignorance... SMF is a group of musicians, promoters, managers, venue staff and music lovers that meets once a month in an attempt to make Sunderland a better place to make and consume music. And absolutely anyone interested in the local music scene is welcome – nay, encouraged – to attend... Over the past few months, the forum has organised a string of gigs and has been working on other diverse projects such as a database of music industry contacts and legal poster points around the city where gigs etc can be advertised without fear of the boys in blue. Last month’s meeting saw a great turnout and discussions of local radio coverage of what’s going on in the scene, and the various other projects the members are working on. But the best thing about last month’s meeting was the gig afterwards at The White Room featuring sets from U_ ’s Anth, Billy Bloodaxe and Squares. With a great atmosphere and quite good attendance it looks like this fairly informal networking event will become a regular fixture of Forum Wednesday.
This month’s meeting takes place at Sunderland City Library, Fawcett Street on Wednesday 8th October at 6pm followed by a gig at The White Room at 7:30pm featuring the perfect pop of Indoor Fireworks, Nu wave due Angloform and a solo acoustic show by Our Imaginary Ben. Indoor Fireworks entertained the masses at the ‘Sunderland Live’ event at Cliffe park in August, only nine months after making their live debut 250 miles south of their native East Durham in London at The Bedford for The Musicians Benevolent Fund Songwriting Awards 2007. Singer, Marc scooped the £2000 prize for songwriting abilities awarded by a panel of songwriting luminaries such as Guy Chambers, Kathy Denis and Dan Gillespie Sells (The Feeling).
The band also made their mark on the airwaves picking up radio play on Huw Stephens and Steve Lamacq’s BBC Radio 1 Introducing Shows, prompting NARC to give the following comment, “There aren’t too many bands around at the moment with melodies quite as catchy or choruses as instant as Indoor Fireworks, they’re pretty special, and definitely worth watching out for.” Our Imaginary Friends current line up came into existance-very gradually- after singer Ben befriended piano virtuoso Gary at sixth form, while close and dear friends Mikey and Rob developed into a sound rhythm section ‘. . through a sheer love of music, gradually exploring and chipping away at what we can do as a band,’ they say. A solo show by Ben will highlight his songwriting qualities and compliment the line up well which is completed by Anglofrom who formed from the ashes of The Floral Riots. Losing a member or 2 on the way and adding a drum machine, the lads have also played one of the events at Cliffe Park and grabbed the audience, banging out their raw, electro punk rock. For more info on the Sunderland music check www.sunderlandmusic.com, www.myspace.com/sunderlandmusicforum or ring (0191) 567 1777.

LIVE
The Small Screen Light Show, B>E>A>K, Warm Digits, Trev Gibb. @The White Room, 12/09/08 Daniel Clifford
A cold and wet Friday night should always be spent inside being soothed by the soulful sounds of someone like Trev Gibb – not that he makes soul music, like. Trev’s voice is a gorgeous mix of Bryan Ferry crooning and that bloke out of Minotaurs, accompanied only by his acoustic guitar. It was just a shame that songs such as ‘Pity me’ and ‘Tell me when your luck’s run out’ were spoiled by some fat lass going on about the KFC she had just eaten. She only shut up during the delightful cover of ‘Dancing in the dark’, but I could hear enough over her prattle to have discovered a new local artist to adore. I do not, however, adore Warm Digits. It’s just not my thing. I can’t understand what the point of them playing live is, really. Their self-indulgent electro horror music would be great sound-tracking a nightmare scene in a film or a Resident Evil computer game but they were totally out of place here. You could sing along or dance or enjoy watching them cos they did nout. It would be great if you love to see people jam and do drum solos, though. I do not. You couldn’t sing along to B>E>A>K either, though, but I pretty much loved these guys. Adorned in garishly-coloured ill-fitting t-shirts, shorts (or rolled up pants) and, of course, those bird masks, B>E>A>K make the right impression from the start – you could tell you were going to have fun. The real treat about B>E>A>K (I’m bored of typing those arrows) is the trumpet and the fact you can tell that these four are just loving being on stage. Even the terrifying backdrop film featuring hundred of giant pigeons didn’t put me off. If only so many people I admired weren’t in the room, I would have danced my bloody shoes off!

There was no information on the artist with this CD just a handwritten note in block capitals, so I have literally no idea if this is a solo artist or a band or a compilation. The first track sounds like an acoustic McFly so they’ve got me in a good mood (don’t pretend you don’t all love McFly) but every song after that sounds like a completely different band playing a completely different genre. The only thing connecting the songs on this CD is the home production. There’s even a track about ‘Bob and his ten foot nob’ and one that starts “Well, I’ve never seen, a vagina like that before”. Hmmmmmm. DC
Tiny Spark release their debut EP on The Animal Farm, the label run by the producers of One Night Only, Ejectorseat and Rosalita. The similarities are immediately obvious – well constructed songs that combine catchy vocals with a perfectly orchestrated backline. First track “Alaska” is a prime example. Beginning with a piano accompaniment that could easily fit into a dance tune, the song melds into a soulful, melodic piece that contains soaring slide guitar and a great vocal performance. The rest of the EP continues in a similar vein – think The Manic Street Preachers with a piano that just adds to each track really well. It might not be everyone’s cup of tea, but these lads have made some well thought-out, instrumental-lush , fantastically produced pop songs and will find success around the corner. SG
Silver Through The Storm
Ross O’Reilly These Four Walls EP This CD is quite pleasant to listen to and it’s quite nice to hear songs that are well-crafted singer-songwriter style pop songs. The songs maybe lack originality but they are well-written and they’ll no doubt be appealling. What I like about this CD is how good the production is, you can hear everything and it sounds good. The musicians are playing the right notes and they’re playing them at the right time. Ross’s singing is also very strong (even if he is singing in that mid-Atlantic pub-rock voice) and the harmonies are nice. And there’s the added bonus of a thank you list inside the sleeve. Even though I have no idea who these people are, it’s a nice read. DC
Another genre in this month’s eclectic collection, this time branching out into Silver’s brand of hip hop. The name Silver comes from ‘silver spoon’, a play on the fact he was well spoken as a youngster – surely a unique cover story. “Through The Storm” was produced by Sermstyle, who is obviously influenced by Timbaland and includes waves of synth chords accompanied by slow and smooth percussion. Although not a hip hop fan, I can appreciate production that makes use of a small range of sounds and manages to make the mix sound vivid and full of sound. Lyrically, the track actually contains a few gems such as “I’ve been forced to tour with DJs that couldn’t mix cordial, and I made it through the storm without even touching on an umbrella ella ella eh eh!”. If you’re a fan of hip hop, you’ll like this. SG

World Is Static Lobotomy Patient
The Lazarus Plot Do You Want To Be Someone?
This is really like two bands. One is quite a weak sounding melodic rock band and the other is a blindingly talented dance act. The singer’s vocal style is beautifully feminine, a perfect match for the ethereal dance style that World of Static can pull off and you wonder why all of their attention is not being fully pumped into that side of things. They use layering and dynamics fantastically in their dance tunes and it sounds like THIS is what they are supposed to be doing. If any better advice could be given it would be to drop the bad rock songs and embrace the electronic! NC
The Lazarus Plot are actually, well, rather good. It is such a rare thing to find something unique in this era of indie/techno/Oasis, yet here is a band that have managed to create something that can honestly be described with words as pretentious as ‘majestic’. Influences range from Massive Attack to Duran Duran, although thankfully the former is more evident. “Do You Want To Be Someone”, out on September 22nd, begins like it means to go on, with a lush string section accompanying the vocal hook. Out of nowhere, unexpected string loops begin to infiltrate, backwards vocals fight to grab your attention, whilst countless samples and offbeat rhythms all sit (surprisingly) neatly together, seamlessly layered on top of each other. This track is one to be appreciated for its ambition and originality - recommended listening. SG
Laurel Collective International Love Affair The Laurel Collective comprises of members from England, Nigeria, Italy and as far away as Wales. As far as their music goes, it is equally diverse. Imagine slightly odd-ball rock ‘n’ roll or indie, with drum ‘n’ bass just occasionally trying to subtly burst through. Their version of Michachu’s “Golden Phone” is a prime example of this, with synth and percussion hits trying to break into the song from the very start, before finally descending into a frenzied climax. The new single “International Love Affair” is a pleasant enough listen and is a sure-fire sing-along live track, yet somehow you feel that it could have been so much more interesting and experimental, to push it out of the bandwagon and into the truly remarkable. SG
El Fuego Illfated Disbelief Fantastically energetic with brilliant riffs and gorgeous vocals, El Fuego have some really strong songs that are catchy and memorable. Singer, Lauren’s, vocal style is sumptuously addictive and suits the music perfectly. Their sound is refreshingly unique, each song demonstrating another style they can pull off. Finding a sound that is good enough for any pop chart but individual enough for any underground record collection is quite an achievement and El Fuego have nailed it. El Fuego have that 70’s rock feel one minute then try out punk, and have a go at pop and, well everything, and it all blends amazingly! NC

Ghost Mice, Onsind, Offshore Radio. @ the Basement, Nile Street - 14/09/08 Greg Robson Going to gigs like this reminds of why I love DIY punk rock so much and why I drag myself to a rundown building in a dodgy back street on a Sunday evening. Offshore radio (members of the dauntless elite and ex-Mercury league) were the only non-acoustic bands to play, it’s a pretty old school racket similar to Dillinger 4 but if they had a girl drummer. It’s tight and catchy and the vocals are ace. Following were one night stand in North Dakota from Durham these boys have just come back from a tour of Germany and are tighter than a Dolphins back end, Virtually every person in the room was singing along and Atmosphere was amazing. It felt like an early Against me! Show when they were just a 2 piece. Up last was Ghost mice from Florida/Indianapolis/France. The first time they came to the UK in 2005 they hitched hiked to every gig and they are still keeping it DIY to the core even though now they have a car to travel round in. They never use PA’s as a rule but to be honest who needs a PA when everyone in the room is singing your songs for you? Up the punks!
Squares, Billy Bloodaxe, U-U. @ The White Room - 10/9/08 Josh Cockroft U-U starts tonights bill of Sunderland musicians with a solo act, one man and his guitar singing My Bloody Valentine style songs, quite emotional and epic, I can imagine it being even better with a band to add to the atmosphere. Billy Bloodaxe, accompanied by his backing band of an iPod, playing prerecorded electro-pop, is next. The lyrics have slight political themes, singing about peoples obsession with money and fashion amongst other things. Credit has to be given to his version of The Smiths ‘Bigmouth Strikes Again’, the only Smiths cover song that doesn’t nauseate me, (Yes I’m looking at you Mark Ronson.) Definitely one to watch. Honestly, I wasn’t too excited to see Squares, having only heard their rough recording on Myspace, but I was glad I attended, with the band impressing me greatly. They played a tight set of Indie-pop songs, keeping everything together even after a couple of setbacks. Singer Daniel was extremely charismatic, and had some interesting dance moves. The rest of the band was just as eccentric, and the songs were energetic and fun. Their debut album will be coming out soon, and I can strongly recommend going to one of the number of gigs they have planned over the next month.

Manifesto All Dayer #4 @The White Room - 07/09/08 Steven Gilbert It’s absolutely hoying it down today, over the road the karaoke kings and queens of Sinatra’s are wearing bin liners while they stand outside to dee their snout in. Meanwhile back at The White Room… Our Imaginary Friends are drying the bones and warming the souls of the 30 or 40 folk who have come to see them. Frontman Ben’s deep and soulful crooning is reminiscent of That Bloke from The Tindersticks, while the use of a clarinet adds an extra special spice to their sound. A little tightening up from their rhythm section and OIF are on to a winner. The Anglo Form are up next and rip through a dark-wave set full of menace and portent. The Combination of Gaz’s twisted riffs, Andy’s twisted lyrics and new addition, Ross’s twisted beats and synths make for an amazingly twisted sound. Stand outs Wolves and Silo are some of the most brilliantly F%$%D up tunes played in these parts ever. Billy Bloodaxe, ex-front man of Coldseat, is third up. Just him and his I-Pod seem to make more impact than most four and five piece guitar bands. Fake Mate and MoneyGrabber have been modified and simplified since the Coldseat days and seem more streamlined or harder, faster, stronger, better, if you get me. Big Mouth Strikes again really gets the crowd going with the altered lyrics, ‘as the flames rose to her Roman nose and her I-POD/XBOX started to melt’. Song of the night though is future single Posieden Vs Pandora. It’s funked up synth riff takes me back to the mid 80s and the electro funk of Curtis Mantronix. Exceptional. Bouncing onto the stage next, with springs in their steps, were the ever-youthful, ever energetic, ever brilliant Squares. Since I first witnessed them six months ago, they’ve grown into a confident, tight and extremely competent bunch of young pups. With swagger in their stride and more than a little confidence, Sunday Best stepped up next. Their finely crafted songs, along with assured musicianship, made them a great live experience. Stand out tracks Jaguar and Girl About Town being two git big, super slices of 21st century Britpop. Unfortunately a bus wiped out me car (parked outside the White Room) about three songs into Sonner’s set, so I didn’t catch the rest of their performance. What I did catch though was very, very, very loud and rock n roll to the da max - like a gang of Mods fighting a gang of washing machines in a deserted carpark in the middle of the night in Murton in 1978. Class!

Bromheads What are your memories of Sunderland? I remember the first time we played Sunderland at the voodoo rooms, great little venue with proper muso fans, even though there were only a few people there we got chatting to them all and most of them still come to all our gigs in the NE. Proper sound lads. Also there was this amazing thrash metal band giving it some downstairs at the same time. Oh and the chicken parmos.. Heart attack waiting to happen. What is your favourite way to relax? Personally getting out on my bike in the wilds. Rock and roll! What is winding you up at the moment? The credit crunch. All those greedy city types getting bailed out for ballsing it all up. What music did you find most inspirational as a child and why? Sesame street, because it was all about love and bringing people together from every race and colour. What do you think is the point in making music? Creativity, expression, releasing all that pent up energy. When was the last time you visited hospital and what was it like? I am sitting in a mental hospital right now as we stayed at my cousins last night after the oxford gig who is a doctor here and lives onsite. He lives in this big haunted gate house and we filmed a Bromheads episode of ‘Britains most haunted house’ last night. Although Tim and Jack were told off for running round the hospital grounds because all the high security systems were picking them up and they were about to send some big butch nurses to wrestle them to the ground. What is the single most important piece of music to you? Under Pressure by Queen and David Bowie
Bromheads Jacket play Independent, Holmeside on 21st October. Tickets from Hot Rats, Independent and direct from Jumpers for Goalposts!
Who would you see playing you in the movie of your life? Chewbacca Today you like? Punting in Oxford Today you hate? Big butch nurses, nothing personal like.....
