A Vision for a New Baseball Field
Advancing Manhattanville Athletics
Manhattanville has long been defined by a strong tradition of athletic excellence; an environment where student athletes grow as competitors and leaders. To sustain that tradition and meet the expectations of today’s athletes, our facilities must evolve into modern, competitive spaces. A new baseball field is central to this vision.
The project will elevate baseball by delivering a contemporary field, improved playing surface and facilities, and lighting that extends training and competition into the evening. These upgrades will strengthen our ability to recruit top players and give current athletes the environment they need to excel. At the same time, refreshed fields and a new multi-use field in the outfield will expand rental opportunities for soccer, field hockey, lacrosse, flag football and more. Extended hours and improved amenities will generate sustainable new revenue that supports the University’s long-term financial health.
The addition of the multi-sport field also enables the launch of women’s flag football, one of the fastest growing sports in the country, broadening athletic opportunities, strengthening enrollment, and positioning Manhattanville at the forefront of emerging collegiate athletics. Together, these enhancements create a dynamic, multi-sport complex that serves our students, our community, and our future.

Elevating the Player Experience
Manhattanville’s tradition of athletic excellence begins with providing our student athletes with facilities that match their talent and ambition. The current baseball field—central to that experience—is now ready for a complete renewal that will elevate both programs and dramatically improve daily training and game day performance.
The current baseball field, after years of deferred maintenance, requires a full rebuild. The project delivers a new turf field, dugouts, outfield fence, foul lines, scoreboard, bleachers, and a press box—creating a true home field advantage and a modern environment worthy of a top tier program.
The move to turf is one of the most impactful changes. Turf reduces annual maintenance costs, eliminates weather related cancellations, and provides consistent, high quality playing conditions that match the standards of the schools we compete against. For athletes, it means safer surfaces, more reliable practice time, and a professional level experience. For coaches, it strengthens recruitment by offering facilities that meet the expectations of today’s top prospects.
The field will also receive new lighting, extending training and competition into the evening. These enhancements will fundamentally transform the playing experience and create a field that reflects the pride of our programs and the ambition of a University committed to excellence.
The upgraded field creates the opportunity to add Women’s Flag Football to athletic offerings. In January 2026, the NCAA officially designated women’s flag football as an Emerging Sport for Women across all three divisions, signaling rapid national expansion and long term stability. The sport is also being added to the Olympics, further accelerating interest, visibility, and participation. Within our own conference, four institutions have already launched varsity programs. It is time for Manhattanville to join them.
With minimal incremental facility needs and strong regional demand, Women’s Flag Football represents a high impact opportunity to expand athletic offerings, strengthen enrollment, and enhance Manhattanville’s competitive position. Based on a projected roster of 21 student athletes and a residential rate of 75%, the program will generate meaningful new revenue while advancing the University’s commitment to women’s athletics.
