Year 7/8 at Teppanyaki in Wellington

Kia ora koutou Firstly, I would like to thank the following people who helped at the recent working bee we held to tidy up the school grounds and school house section. We had support from the following people and their kids; Fletch & Wendy Fletcher, Greg & Selena Robbins, Michael Brownlee, Carmay & Soon Ng. Thanks also to Dave & Wendy Sligh, Carol Simmons, James Donald, Fred Pretty and Sarah Gatjens. Together, we got a lot achieved, the place looks a lot tidier and we finished up with a bbq lunch and swim. Other people I would like to thank are Jim Baillie and Mark McGowan who have been tirelessly working to get our school pool up and running. Finally, after seven weeks of adjustments to chemical levels and the solar heating system, we have officially opened the pool. Students should be encouraged to bring their swim wear to school daily so that swimming lessons can begin. Wellington camp was a huge success. Thank you to Sharmaine Kerr, Vanessa Bryant, Floss Fowler and Selena Robbins for assisting with camp. We jammed a lot of activities into the week and were fortunate to have the weather in our favour. See photos further in. The last two weeks of school will fly by as we have a lot to get through, as you can see by the front page calendar. On Wednesday 9th December KiwiCan will be hosting a ‘Wet n Wild’ morning and this will be followed by our Whānau Group Athletics competition, (to replace the Pelorus Cluster event that we sadly had to cancel, due to the grounds being too wet and unsafe). We would love to have you come along on this day to support and join in the athletics activities, which will begin at approximately 11:30am. Finally, I’d like to wish you all an enjoyable holiday break, a Merry Christmas and best wishes for a happy new year. Ngā mihi Tracey Wearing School Caretaker/Grounds keeper Job We are in search of a school caretaker to begin in 2021. The work consists of general maintenance of grounds, gardens playgrounds and school buildings. 7.5 hours per week. Please contact Tracey to request an info pack. principal@havelock.school.nz 027 275 6380
