A group of Year 6’s having fun with the kids at pre school.

Kia ora koutou As you read this newsletter, myself and a group of willing and supportive parent helpers are experiencing city life in Wellington, with 12 Year 7 and 8 students. We were meant to explore the city back in May, however Covid-19 interrupted our initial plans. We’ve been extremely fortunate to be able to make this happen now, at reasonably short notice. Many hours of hard work fundraising back in 2019 have enabled us to plan a week of fun-filled activities which include: rock climbing/abseiling, visiting Wellington Zoo, Parliament, Te Papa, Carter’s Observatory, NZ Police Museum, Adrenalin Forest, a Teppanyaki experience, and also a day at the National Young Leaders’ Event. We’ve almost experienced every available mode of transport too; airplane, shuttle, bus, train, cable car and ferry! Thank you to everybody who helped us with our fundraising efforts: staff, whānau and local businesses. It’s that time of the year again where we need to collect in the trophies that were handed out at our final prize giving assembly last year. If these could please be dropped at the office, we can ensure they are cleaned and engraved, ready to present to this year’s recipients at our end of year prize giving on Tuesday 15th December.

As mentioned on the front page calendar, we are holding a Working Bee at the school grounds on Sunday 29th November at 9am. Tasks that we would appreciate your help with are: gardening, weed eating, lawn mowing, pruning, some minor repairs to picnic tables, and a general tidy up around our school grounds and the school house section. If you are available and can offer us some support, feel free to contact me prior, so I can be prepared with any resources/tools you may require. We will be providing some drinks and nibbles for lunch to show our appreciation so it would be handy to have a rough indication of numbers. If the weather permits, the pool will be open and supervised for kids who wish to have a swim during the working bee.
