WhÄ nau group leaders having their monthly milo meeting.
Kia ora koutou A very warm welcome to Emma Parnwell, who is teaching in Pelorus this term and also to Sarah Codlin, a student teacher, who is joining us in Wakamarina for five weeks. We are also delighted to have Quinn Little, who has just started as a new entrant in Kaituna, as well as many preschoolers currently doing their school visits, who are soon to start. We ended Term 3 with a Whānau Group Fun Day, where students participated in a range of activities and competitions. At the end of the day each group voted for three leaders; one from each class. These students gather monthly to discuss their ideas for Havelock School, specifically ways we can create opportunities to mix across year levels, to help develop a sense of community. One way we will do this is through the implementation of Garden to Table, which Lucie Thompson has kindly offered to coordinate. Our planter boxes are now ready to go. We welcome any extra support we can get with this project as many hands make light work! Please phone Lucie (021 2550 575) to offer your help. As you will have seen in the calendar, Term 4 is jam packed full of activities. We’ve already had an amazing start to the term with a fabulous turn out of parents and supporters at both Pet Day and Taiopenga. After such an unprecedented school year, it has been nice to experience a somewhat normal start to the term. Long may it continue. Ngā mihi Tracey Wearing Tēnā koutou katoa, 2020 Board of Trustee mid-term elections; Nominations are now open for the election of two parent representatives to the Havelock School Board of Trustees. Nomination papers and additional information regarding the election process have been distributed to all school whānau members. Nominations for the elections will close on the 1st of November. If there are more nominations than there are vacancies available, a voting election will be held. Eligible voters will be issued with voting papers and statements from all candidates on or before November 6, 2020. The poll will close on December 4 with the highest polling candidates being elected. Joining the Board is a way to help shape the future direction and shared vision of our amazing school for the benefit of all tamariki. If this sounds like something that you would love to be a part of, or you require any further information regarding the work of the Board or the election process, please get in touch.
Ngā mihi nui,
Selena Robbins Havelock School Board of Trustees Chairperson
