Kia ora koutou Following an eventful term break, we’ve started the term with a number of new faces here at school. I’d like to welcome our newest students; Honour and Conrad WallaceHorton, Isaac Craig, Nirvanna Karena, Eliza Ng, Teneal Metrovich and Kelci Abraham. We wish you all the best on your learning journey here at Havelock School. Also, a warm welcome to Ethan Davidson, our new teacher in Kenepuru Class, with year 2 - 4 students. Matua Ethan was born and raised in the fringes of West Auckland, where he grew a love for the Waitākere Ranges and the wild west coast beaches. He is well travelled, both abroad and in Aotearoa New Zealand, having also lived in Christchurch for two years. He has a background in hospitality, so has a taste for good food and drink. In his own time he enjoys a good outdoors adventure, or spending time reading or playing his guitar. Matua Ethan also has a keen interest in the sciences and in language and culture. He is a passionate teacher who is committed to providing a wholesome and successful educational experience for all students at Havelock school. Welcome. This week we are busy preparing for our biennial noho Marae visit to Te Hora in Canvastown. We are fortunate this year to have both Canvastown School and Helen Anderson with her PORSE group attending with us. Thank you to all who’ve helped us to organise this authentic experience for our tamariki, specifically with transport, supervising activities and staying over. We’d also especially like to thank te tangata whenua at Te Hora for allowing us to visit and making us feel principal so welcome.

ASSISTANCE REQUIRED There are still a number of rural people in the Marlborough area needing assistance with the flood cleanup. For those rural folk who may have been affected with flooding on their properties this is the latest MPI fact sheet https://bit.ly/2WJoIvH For those needing cleanup help this is the Federated Farmers link to register https://bit.ly/3fjCawS For those that can assist with cleanup help https://bit.ly/3libqk3 Volunteering for cleanup may just require cleaning debris off fences ...'Many hands make light work', but there is a real need for those with fencing knowledge. This may suit semi retired people with a few extra hours. Register your interest today. Thank you. Sarah White, Coordinator, Top of The South Rural Support Trust. Ph. 021 872 282

TO ALL HAVELOCK RAT CATCHERS! If anyone has one of our Havelock Birdsong Rat Traps and Tunnels that they may have finished using or have not used in a while, we would like them back please! They are required elsewhere in Havelock! There is great success and catch numbers along the waterfalls tracks and areas up behind Havelock so this is where the traps need to be. If anyone could please drop off the tunnels and traps at 90 Main Road Havelock that would be much appreciated. Thank you – Sandra Currie
