Kia ora koutou Our junior students (Y 1-3) had a great day at Linkwater School, a few weeks back, for the Pelorus Cluster Junior Swim Sports. They participated in a variety of events such as; starfish, duck and dive, width and length swimming races, running races in the pool and many more. Thanks to Linkwater School for organising this event and to all the parents for coming along to support the kids.

Unfortunately, due to Covid Level 2 restrictions, the Senior Swim Sports couldn’t go ahead last week as planned, however we’ve been very lucky to secure a postponement date of April 09 at Stadium 2000. Not only have the students been competing in sports events recently, some of the school staff have been competing in the Business Bowls fortnightly event. We’ve participated in this local competition for a number of years now, simply to get amongst the locals and have a bit of a laugh. Our skills have gradually improved over time, although we all openly admit to being complete novices. This year, however, we surprised ourselves by faking our way to the semi-finals, then against all odds we beat the Queen Charlotte Tavern team (apologies Jason, Dan and Jeff we’re not sure how that happened, but you did choose to play us) and we made it to the finals. This was where our luck ended as we were defeated by Paula, Cameron and Gary (Mellow Yellow), who played an outstanding game. A huge thank you to the Havelock Bowling Club for organising Business Bowls bring ing the community together in a friendly, competitive way. this weekend at the mussel Festival 3 Mussels wrapped in bacon on each kebab 2 x kebabs - $6
