Kia ora koutou A special welcome to our most recent students to join us here at Havelock School; Owen and Isla Ching have come all the way from Australia, Owen is in Wakamarina and Isla is in Kaituna. Also, new to Kaituna is Ethan Haslip. We wish you all the best for your time at Havelock School. Recently, we’ve held elections in class to decide who will be the leaders of each of our three whānau groups. Students had to register their interest, campaign and then present themselves to their groups before voting took place. The leaders who were voted in will remain for all of Terms 1 and 2 and we will follow the same process at the end of Term 2 to determine who will lead the groups in Term 3 and 4. Congratulations to the following people who were voted in: Havelock Whānau Group Leo Langley, Keira Grenfell & Quinn Little Rutherford Whānau Group Hamish Bryant, Elgin Ng & Titan Polamalu Pickering Whānau Group Isla Baillie, Dani Grenfell & Nevie Hay. We had our first school assembly for 2021 last Friday, hosted by Havelock Whānau Group. Certificates were awarded to the following students for earning the most points for their Whānau groups., but being spotted showing our school values; Resilience, Respect and Responsibility. Congratulations! Havelock Whānau Group Leo Langley Rutherford Whānau Group Jasmine Bond Pickering Whānau Group Jake Kerr

Long Service Award. On behalf of the Board of Trustees I would like to acknowledge and thank James Donald for the tremendous time, dedication, and continuous support that he has given to the Havelock School Board over the last 15 years. James has been an active member of the board since 2006 when he joined as a parent representative. James later went on to take on the role of Board Chairperson, before becoming a co-opted board member from 2014 - 2021. James’ extensive BOT historical knowledge of both the school and its buildings has been an absolute asset over the last 15 years. James has provided a wealth of knowledge and guidance and has been the driving force behind many building upgrades and successful projects over his time. Ngā mihi nui, Selena Robbins
