TERM 2 CALENDAR

Do you have ‘green fingers’? Do you enjoy working with young people? Do you have an hour a week that you could use to volunteer at school?
If so please get in contact! The kind chaps down at the Menzshed have built us some planter boxes that need filling with lovely, healthy vegetables! We have the kids, the funds and the equipment; we just need someone with the skills and time!
Kia ora koutou katoa The end of another school term is approaching and everyone here at school is ready for the holidays and a good rest. Winter has definitely arrived and has brought with it the usual rounds of colds and flu for both students and staff. Please remember that the Ministry of Health are still advising that you should ring healthline if you are displaying potential COVID-19 symptoms; even if you think it’s just a regular cold or flu etc. Don’t forget to look in your child’s bag this afternoon as they will be bringing their mid-year report home today. Triangular Learning Conferences will be taking place early in Term 3 so remember to book a time to discuss your child’s progress and set further goals for the year. I also want to thank everyone one last time for making us so welcome in Havelock, we have been lucky enough to make some wonderful new friends and have thoroughly enjoyed being part of the community in such a friendly, welcoming town. Ian
WAKAMARINA For the last two weeks we have been looking at different ways to add description to our writing. Can you spot all the great language, connectives and punctuation we used? “I wouldn’t go in there if I were you, it’s far too dangerous…” said the wizard. I went in anyway. It was spooky but I kept on walking, it started to get darker and darker and darker. It got so dark that I couldn’t see! I saw a light so I walked towards it, it was next to a cupboard - I opened the cupboard door…Meah Bryant In a land far, far away lived fire breathing dragons that were trained to fight evil! The town was called Dragon’s Lair and the king was called Godzilla. He was the most powerful dragon of all and could breathe pur ple and blue fire. Whenever the king gets weak the other dragons fight him until he dies. Then a new king will rise and it starts all over again until the dragons are extinct… Julius Reha I was cold. Shivering, so cold that nothing could pass my oesophagus. I ran towards the warm looking shed not knowing that inside was a psycho wizard doing his evil magic. I knew that I would have to defeat him - I wasn’t going to let a highly ugly wizard get in my way! Luckily I was going through a bit of a phase - “You’re ugly! I shot at him, “Who made your clothes? A blind person? The ugly duckling?” I asked rudely. The wizard stared at me in disgust. “You be quiet child!” He replied. Emily Lawrence
