Kia ora koutou Well here we are, the end of another school year. This week we have farewelled our Year 8s as they head off in various directions to continue their learning journeys. It’s always a bitter sweet time of the year. I have so many fond memories of working with these kids throughout the years. They have taught me a lot. I wish all Year 8s a fabulous transition to college next year. Our end of year celebrations have needed to be quite different this year due to strict Covid guidelines, nevertheless we have managed to plan an End of Year prize giving for the kids to celebrate and share their dance performances, although we’ve been unable to have visitors. Instead, we have planned to video each section and share within our closed school communication platform, HERO. Last week we had a fun day of athletic competitions, where each student competed for their whanau group in a variety of athletic activities. Pickering whanau group scored the most points, followed by Rutherford, then Havelock. Well done to Max who managed to clear 1.35m at high jump! After athletics, KiwiCan organised a Wet n Wild afternoon where the kids got to squirt each other with water pistols and have loads of fun on the waterslides. We were lucky that the weather came out nice and sunny. That’s it from me until 2022. I wish you all a safe and happy summer break. principal
