Kia ora Last week was a busy one! Ten of our seniors visited Maud Island for an overnight trip, accompanied by Miss Heaps and Tim Langley. They were very fortunate with the weather and had an enjoyable time, learning about endangered species and getting familiar with lots of creepy crawlies! As you’ll see on the following pages, we had a busy day participating in Samoan activities as part of Samoan Language Week. We were very fortunate to have a visit from a Samoan Dance group from Blenheim, Kids of the Vineyard. It was great to see our kids joining in. Thank you to Va for leading this event and to Vera for supporting. We can’t wait to do it again next year! Friday the 2nd of July sees a group of senior students head up the sounds to Waitaria Bay School to take part in the Pelorus Cluster Technology Challenge; this is a great opportunity for our budding engineers and builders to showcase their talents and ideas. We are hoping to enter three teams. It’s great to see so many Havelock students involved in winter sports at the moment. Kudos to their dedicated parents braving the cold weather on the sidelines to show support and/or volunteering their time to coaching. It’s a huge commitment and one your kids will be forever grateful for. So, on behalf of all the kids, thank you. Ngā mihi Tracey Wearing

Notes from the Havelock Museum Our Museum is about the undergo the next stage allowing us to show more of Havelock’s colourful past . Now plans have been approved for the alterations to the Jack Shand building ( where the Flea Market currently is) , and funding applied for, so that the building can become a second part of the Museum. This will allow pre- European history to be on show, more of the photos in our collection to be displayed and reference books made available for research. There are plans to show more of Havelock’s social and business history. The Museum Committee are looking for ideas from the community on what should be in this auxiliary Museum. If you have thoughts on what you would like to see in the Museum, or how it can be made more interactive, come to the Annual General Meeting on Thursday 24th June at 10am in the School Library where the extensions will be discussed. Ideas from this discussion session will be passed to the Museum designer
